Yep , +1 . After playing with it a bit more I'm finding the swipe on / off thing very clumsy and annoying . Trying to trigger tracks or stop them is very hit and miss , more miss in my case lol
Tapping on the loop selects it without triggering it, so I guess what people want is to switch gestures? Swiping selects, tapping plays? Or maybe tap-and-hold selects?
The swiping hasn’t bothered me, but I think tapping would be better.
I think as the app is primarily aimed at live use , selecting tracks on the fly should be quick and simple . So maybe as you say the edit option should have the slide , or maybe a double tap or second button below to edit
I recorded a live jam with the app last night and several times tracks didn't trigger when I tried to select them . Perhaps I just need to get used to it , otherwise I love the app )
I'd prefer midi triggering, then I could tap icon for edit as is now and tap pad on controller for playback start/stop.
If we exclude MIDI control, then perhaps a zoned tap would be better, tap top of pad for play, bottom of pad for edit, a line across the pad would destroy the aesthetics, but provide an indication of where to tap.
We actually tried to contact you via email about this on Monday with more details (should've mentioned it here too). There's a new 5.1 patch already submitted that we think would have fixed it, on the off-chance you have a device backup to restore to it should be worth trying when the update comes out.
Once you start 'slipping' you can release the button, you do not have to hold it down while slipping, only to start it, meaning you should be able to start by using 2 fingers on the same hand
I love you too.
I see the imported sample is still called 'imported' when in use- so you could be sitting there looking at eight boxes all called 'imported' if you are using all your own material. Is it not possible to have it so that the name of the sample appears in the actual box- in order that you can identify it.
both in 2016
And if a mixer is on the cards then midi from my LaunchControl XL would be great too, to control volume and PAN
Odd that Flatten shows as an option for all imported blocs even if they have not been manipulated.
It would be great to be able to merge selected tracks. I find myself layering a a rhythm track or a couple of bass tones--then exporting it and then importing it again. It's a couple of extra steps that could be eliminated without exiting the interface to help with the flow.
Also--picking up and moving slices or rearranging a slice order would be ideal, too. Beyond the slip function.
Great work on the updates. I've bought every sound pack and love the app!
Agreed. Merge would immediately help/increase track numbers. I use it a lot in Loopy (and that has 12 tracks after all...) and then there's the small matter of, erm, panning.
You do this by recording your new order in the sequencer within the slicer
Anyone know how to remove purchased packs ?
Pack purchase remover IAP cost £37.99 + VAT
LMAOOOO
Apologies because I didn't explain myself very well. I cannot use any fingers. I use a stylus which is essentially like using one single finger. So if I understand correctly I wouldn't even be able to "start slipping" since it seems you need at least two fingers to do that?
I'm always looking for new ways to produce music and this looks like a unique way to do so, sort of a combination of Samplr and Loopy among others, but if that is the only way to activate "slip mode" it might not make sense for me to get . Otherwise this is an instant purchase for me.
One other thing, kudos for having Ableton Link at launch. I don't know how others on this forum feel about this but any app that gets Ableton Link suddenly becomes an app I need to take a look at because I seem to use the ones I already have with this functionality the most.
Thanks for the response and keep up the great work!
Yes you need two points of contact on the screen, can you get a Y shaped stylus ?
I was wondering exactly this, almost like chopsticks so you can vary the distance between points.
I don't think so but even if I could such a stylist wouldn't be practical to use with anything else because I would have to have somebody put it on every time I wanted to use Blocs Wave as opposed to the general use one I always I've attached to my splint that works with everything.
There is one other possibility though. If you go into the IOS Settings app to General – Accessibility – AssistiveTouch. You'll see a section called "Custom Gestures". Using this you can create your own single or multiple finger gestures that can be activated with a single tap of one finger (or stylus in my case). In my case I would have somebody record a multiple finger gesture once and then save it to the AssistiveTouch function for easy access. With AssistiveTouch you will get a little floating icon on your display that is always there and can be repositioned anywhere along the edges on your display. Tapping it will open a multiple paged floating window with various functions and shortcuts, including the saved custom gestures.
So basically you would need to create a gesture where one finger is tapping the bottom left-hand corner of the screen (where the "slip" button is) while another finger is simultaneously tapping the center of the screen (where those waveform controls pop up). If it's done right one should theoretically be able to activate "slip" mode with a single tap using that custom gesture. The only potential problem I see here is after doing that there may be a small amount of time where one would be switching out of the custom gesture back to normal and nothing would be touching the screen. The brief lack of contact might result in "slip" mode turning back off.
I don't know if that makes any sense because so few people need to use these type of accessibility features that IOS offers. I thought I would attempt to explain it so maybe you could try it yourself to see if it works since I don't have the app yet. I would prefer not to purchase it just to find out. :-)
If you do attempt it just remember once you create the custom gesture you can only use a single finger from that point on. At least until the test is over, which should take no more than a minute or two.
Thanks so much for any help. It is much appreciated!
even if you never used the 'slip' function - Blocs is still a highly useful and fun app.
does anyone no how to setup blocs wave in AUM. to be able to send audio into blocs for looping
I think it was posted in one of the Blocs threads that you have to use Audiobus to get audio into Blocs because Blocs does not have IAA so there is no other way to do it. I'm guessing you could have AUM routed into AB and AB into Blocs but I'm at work and unable to test that.
@ paulyboy ....I tested it for you. Not going to work I'm afraid unless the devs provide the option to toggle the slip button....so one click will hold it without you having to keep it held. as it is I can get the recorded gesture to bring up the slip controls but of course you then need to bypass that gesture in order to be able to slip the file. As soon as you do that, the slip controls disappear...
I tried several combinations and couldn't get any to work unfortunately. I tried a two pointed gesture but that didn't work, I tried recording a long press and then doing a second press while this was 'playing back' via the assisted touch, that didn't work. It seems like the assisted touch does not let you add another touch point to the recorded gesture.
A toggle mode would certainly help your cause. Perhaps @Launchpadforios can add this as either the standard or add an option to settings to allow this.
Sorry I cannot be of more help , I'm willing to try other things for you though if you think of any
That certainly seems to be the case so I might get it anyways. :-)
Thanks for testing it and yeah that's what I figured. Oh well it was worth a shot.
Thanks so much for looking into this. I kind of figured that's what would happen since I've created custom gestures in the past.
I suppose I could use AudioShare to properly trim a waveform then reimport it back into Blocs Wave which could basically accomplish the same thing as slip mode. Obviously it wouldn't be as convenient but at least it would still be possible to properly align a waveform that way I think.
However I certainly wouldn't be opposed to a "toggle" option in the settings. :-)
Thanks again and keep up the great work!
thanks, yeah it seemed to work good with audiobus out then back in.
