Is there just a way to hit record, instantly grab the sample, stop record, with no count in or need to tap a tempo?

The way we do this, is to first set Record to Infinte recording length, then hit record in Blocs Wave. In your own time, just start the thing your trying to capture, leave it as long as you want before you start this.

Clearly, you might now have a large gap at the start of your recording, so in edit mode, just hit 'Slip' And slip the first beat your your record sound, to the first beat of our grid.

There's a tutorial that shows this in more clearly here (around 5 minutes in):

I followed these steps. But if I don't tap in the tempo just perfectly prior to recording my material, the loop is off. Even if I use slip to move the first beat into place.

Is there a way to adjust the tempo after you record in the material?

Figured it out. I can adjust tempo after the fact in the Attributes panel.

Almost there. Now: how do I trim off the unwanted tail of my recorded material? I can see how to use the end loop marker in Loop mode to avoid hearing it, but if I put it into Slice mode, my unwanted tail is still there. Is there a way to chop of off completely?

Unwanted tail?? Have another beer and reevaluate.

Blocs Wave only shows up as an option in the list of output apps in AB if I start Blocs Wave first. Is this a known bug?

Happens sometimes with apps. Blocs, GeoShred, midiSteps and AUM don't show in my AB output unless I start them first. Usually an update to AB or the offending app fixes this sooner or later. It's not a huge deal I find..

export it to audio share then re-import it... tail gone, not ideal but it'll get better.

What is flatten going to do?

I hope it will make my iPad even thinner so I can even more easily carry it around :D

Well, the update is out, and my wishes for flatten were dashed, turns out it will not make my iPad thinner but will mix down your current pad with loop points/slices/sequence/levels all to a new file in the new user file browser. :D

Oh look, there's a flatten video!

EDIT: And on the store. Downloading!

  • Hmm...

I've not taken a plunge with this one yet (trying to cure my appoholism) but it seems like this 'Flatten' feature is one way to permanently trim recorded/frozen audio and bounce down sliced sequences?

Is there a way to 'zoom' the waveform when setting the start/end points?

Also is there an option to flatten multiple tracks into one flat-file?

    Yes

    Yes

Yes, all mixed onto one track or each pad onto a separate track

Congratulations blocs wave, you've got three yesses, you're through to the next round.

  • import via itunes library?

    So for number 4...
Does slip-mode work when zoomed in?

  • And one final question for now... (Would be number 5).

Does it support recording from IAA-Instruments/Generators without need to use some other apps?

No - You need to use AB

  • hey wait a minute how did we get to number 5 when number one is panning, that means we're up to number 6 no?

For once we are on the same hobby horse: PANNING! A must, must have here.

  • I'm thinking panning will come to Blocs Wave once there is a mixer and effects get implemented :)

  • As far as I can tell Blocs patterns are in stereo so what would be the point of panning something that is already in stereo? Won't this screw up the stereo mix somehow? Sounds like a "convert stereo to mono" feature is needed before you can have panning.

  • Crashing on the 6s when choosing user loops. And sometimes freezing once said loop is loaded, not being able to stop playback and Then it crashes. These were loops that had previously played back fine

Even if the track is in 'stereo' panning is a useable tool to alter the stereo-image/sound-placement.

  • Panning , mixer view and full EFX with the ability of internal recording

  • Nice update.

Few things I noticed on an iPhone 6

    • the 'attributes' button has been removed. I liked that. I guess it's replaced by the finding the clip in the discovery section and clicking it's gear icon

    • when you change the name of a user recording or import or 'flatten' it doesn't update the name in the user bank (although it is updated if you find the same clip by type eg bass). Bug I think.

    Other than that... Nice.

    +1
Perhaps in version 12 or something

I noticed my clip names weren't updating until I scrolled the list. It seems name refreshes when it redisplays the clip in the user list.

  • I've just bought Blocs wave and although I really like the concept, everything I record into the app has this awful warbling character to it when I play it back. Is this normal? It sounds like the artifacts you experience with heavy time stretching, but I haven't changed the tempo. Can anyone help me out?

  • loving this app more and more with each update. still eating for 2 basic features. reverse function for waveforms, and a metronome. if any Blocs devs visit this forum. please include these features soon.

the flatten feature will be more useful when panning is available.
