  • thank you TrueYorky, :) yep so that's it then, midi out and everything done on the bassalicious screen can be automated and recorded, played back, muted, edited etc...

kaikoo2 does it already have midi learn?

I should say 'no', I don't know how to by double tap anything. I see no midi learn button too, only the clear cc button there on stand alone or on AU.

At this moment, you can not insert it to Auria too. I see no name listed there on IAA instrument.

  • TY says long press and hold for midi learn

  • edited June 2016

    There is 'midi-learn' just long-press a controller and a menu will pop-up...

  • It ha to be a long touch and hold, so it doesn't interfere with other touch functions. Or else that MIDI learn will popup all over.

  • so you can set Bassalicious to any of the 16 midi channels or?....

Ya, 'all' channels or 'single' 16 channels as usual.

No special multi-ticking channels. Not many synths can do multi selection.

  • bought, there's literally no other dev I know of that has his kind of ear

  • edited June 2016

it would be very cool to lock the keyboard to scales or some special neo soul scales to do runs and stuff , where you couldn't hit wrong notes. but that's a conversation for another day :)

DRC can do multi special ticking, I asked DRC developer for that. He is good developer. See photo 2,4 and 6 for midi out channels (yellow color on number).

  • Don't know about BASSalicious but in Model 15 there is quite a difference in sound-quality when enabling 'measurement mode' or (Minimal iOS Processing as it's called there).

  • thanks kaikoo

samu what do you mean by that, I don't have that app? does it suffer poorly?

  • edited June 2016

Is there an arrow somewhere on the face of Bassalicious for scrolling through presets or only the preset menu on the top left?

Only top left for stand alone app.

For AUM, top left for creating personal preset by AUM preset icon. The middle top 'presets' word on osc window to choose default selections.

  • ok, much thanks.

    what a nice sound man

Quite the opposite. When the measurement mode is enabled the sound is 'cleaner' as it is minimally processed by iOS. You have the option to enable measurement mode in AudioBus and AUM. (In Model 15 it also affects the output volume).

In AUM it's called 'High Quality' in the Settings and in AudioBus Settings it's 'Use Measurement Mode'.
There is a very subtle difference in AUM when toggling the setting on/off when using BASSalicious.

  • which do you prefer, bassalicious stand alone or via aum's high quality?

  • @GospelMusicians Not sure if this has been mentioned in all the above posts. I don't want to go back and sift through them. Already read them :)

When switching presets, while the preset window is open, it would be nice/wonderful/cool if I could play the onscreen keyboard while switching presets. Right now that doesn't appear to be an option.

    Thanks. Fun app!

  • Downloaded. Tweaked 2 minutes. My ears and my stomach said YES. Bought ! Love it.

So far I've been playing around with it as AU inside Cubasis.
When it comes to this app it doesn't really seem to matter that much at all. It's just bass-heaven :)

Oddly enough the preset-selection works fine in Cubasis. No need to dismiss the preset-selection dialogue to continue playing using the built-in keyboard.

  • Hmm loading in modstep totally breaks modstep since it is impossible (?) to unload it, modstep crashes when i try to unload it, and loads it automatically when modstep starts impossible to create new project :( any one have this ??

Wow, didn't know that ! Didn't know any other synth doing that, but that feature is very clever and should be included in all modern synths based apps !!!!

  • note, measurement mode only affects the built in mic and speaker

I wish I understood this. I just like to push buttons on the keyboard and make cool sounds, and create my own presets. lol....

Oh, Specific selected midi channels is very helpful on synth such as DRC, because it is polyphonic synth. Fugue Machine can drive those channel numbers, it is just very helpful, because sometimes you have already many apps for those channels, it is great to have specific selection.

Try DRC default preset on Fugue 4 channels fun, I was amazed by that with fx effect on AUM.

No doubt others have mentioned, but the preset selection is the one thing that chaps my cowboys on this excellent app. Feel like it's a double-clutch to get where I'm going...
