By the way, Auria has dedicated buttons for AudioCopy and AudioPaste. It would be nice IMHO if Rim ditched AudioCopy and make these buttons "To Audio Share" and "From AudioShare".

That's brilliant imo. Please do post that to the Auria forums. Rim and Co are always listening.

+1, that would be extremely useful.

Cubasis offers both horizontal and vertical zoom in the arrange window.
Simply perform the gestures on the track list and the arranger area and you're there.

Hm, I think I've mentioned it a thousand times in this forum already, maybe I go ahead and print t-shirts and hire a blimp to fly over all major cities to announce it better ... ;) ...
The zooming behavior in Cubasis' arrange window and the editors is planned to be improved with the next update.

Enjoy beging creative & have a splendid weekend everybody,

    Lars

Indeed, I have no problems zooming vertically at all in Cubasis. Looking forward to the 2.0 update

Got an answer there, both from Rim and a fellow user, Pitzipado. The former's anwer was very informative:

and especially cool is an "open in" option I can now send regions all over the place :D most handily to
my external storage app- a great addition!
    Happy sonic travels

One of many advantages I use with Logic is markers. Immediately get to sections, loop, zoom, even alter entire arrangements by simply dragging sections around.

I do that in Auria all the time, re-arrange songs by shifting stuff around in the timeline, it's pretty easy if you do the tap and marquee select, you can select multiple sections very quickly. Auria has markers too, but sadly only 4, which admittedly is a drawback.

I think Auria’s 4 markers are handy for jumping around, and Ripple Edit Mode allows deleting/inserting regions and shifting everything after. Examples of AP’s powerful feature set. However, I haven’t figured out how to make them work like Logic’s Markers and Arrangement Markers.

Logic’s markers don’t just mark a location, they define all the sections, beginning and end, of your song/piece. They’re named, automatically or manually, Intro, Verse, Chorus, etc…, can be colored and clearly visible under the timeline. It’s quick and easy to create them. Add notes or comments to each marker. With the keyboard you can fast forward and reverse through sections, automatically setting the loop range as you go. If you want to move a verse before a chorus, or copy the intro to a new bridge, just drag the marker and all the regions underneath (could be a 100 tracks) moves and shifts accordingly. When using the powerful Drummer, it follows the markers to play appropriate parts and fills. Bounce your stereo mix, import, and your markers are still there for mastering.

If you have Cubase on laptop, I'd say Cubasis. Otherwise Auria Pro. The Lynda tutorials help a lot as does having a 12.9 128 gig Ipad pro. I almost bought a laptop until the pro version came out.. The gap between ios and laptop is closing daily

Hey @Telstar5 have you had any issues connecting Cubasis audio to play through your iPad Pro? I can't get audio to play through my iPad Pro what so ever, I've tried multiple things. However, I can get audio to play through the Steinberg UR12 audio interface headset input. Is there some setting I have to enable in Cubasis?

    Hi erokone,

Did send you a reply to the similar topic you've opened in our Steinberg forum:
    https://www.steinberg.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=183&t=109101

Please let me have your feedback if it helps to solve the issue.

    Thanks

Now reduced Auria Pro down to 2.5gb from 4.8gb. So keeping both until Cubasis V2 comes out and will think again at the time.

Can you do it from within the app, or do you need to use iTunes or ifunbox?

  • From within the app, "Load Project">"Edit"> delete what you feel like at your own peril.

Yeah you can. I just delete instrument folders within the 'Sampler Instruments' folder. Just be aware you can download the online ones back. If you want the inbuilt ones, you will have to reload Auria again.

  • I find Cubasis workflow more streamlined and uncluttered. I haven't used Auria most recently but the last time I did the UI felt rather cluttered and fiddly. AP has more features and arguably better quality plugins but with IAA and AU I can't see that being a major issue, especially because you can use plugins you already own rather than spending more on fabfilters and similar.

If you own Auria Pro, @supadom, you could always download and install it again and see if the workflow difficulties yor experienced are still there. Since Auria added support for AU and a built-in keyboard, I felt no point in keeping Cubasis, so I deleted it (despite enjoying Micrologue a lot).

    All the best!

  • When I started this thread I was short on storage space so had to make some choices. I have since kept both Cubasis and Auria and use them both. I got rid of all the clutter of pianos I had instead. I really didn't need so many different pianos lol

I know, I know. Still, sometimes straight forwardness cant be beat and I already spent all of my Christmas money. I've returned Auria last year while exercising my vanishing European customer rights so can't ride it again until the cup fills up again.

  • @Lars looking forward to the shirt! 8-)

Yeah, that is similar to me. I dumped synths, and other stuff that was perfectly good, I just wasn't using it. I do use both Auria Pro and Cubasis.

Sweet. I, too, have so many pianos, as well as the Auria Pianos.

What are your favorite piano apps? Do you use any "internal" piano in Auria?

  • In Auria, I only use the Salamander Piano free IAP.

Do you prefer it to module Ivory Grand? That's my goto, and then I use a huge variety of others, ~except~ for IK pianos, which most people here love.

I deleted all my Auria Pianos. I mainly use CMP Jazz and iGrand. The CMP Jazz is my main normal piano sound, while I use the iGrand sounds for piano sounds that I us fx and synth backing with. I found I don't need anything more because a) I am an awful piano player even when I had a good keyboard to play on and b) I rarely use them much, mainly due to reason a! :p

Saying that, I do love some of the drum kits that are free with Auria. No doubt someone will dive on here and say they sound shit, but I like them :)

  • The Salamander piano in Auria is lovely, especially when the sustain is active.

    Agreed.

In fact, because of a tip from a fellow Audiobus user, @Littlewoodg, because Lyra supports EXS libraries, and because I now have a 256GB iPad, I bought a huge comercial sample library from a company that has a funny name, "Imperfect Samples". That is my piano of choice, and I cannot think about one with more detail and realism in iOS, except maybe (because I didn't try it yet) the huge Colossus piano.

  • P.S.: where I said before "in Auria I only use the Salamander" please read "from the Auria pianos selection I only use the Samander"

Haven't bought Drumagog yet, so that's a good sign then.

Lol, sorry, for some reason I thought I had Drumagog as well.

  • We talk about things being relative alot in iOS music production. I mean an amp sim with power of BIAS, with some IAP's added can go for over $30, very expensive in terms of iOS apps. But I've used the example before, when I would walk into Guitar Center and buy an over drive pedal for $45 I thought I'd just got the sweetest deal ever.

So to me, if you can swing it, why not get both DAW's, Cubasis and Auria? When I got Auria, before Pro came out, it seem pricey for an app but once I got into it poking around for a few minutes it was apparent I'd gotten an incredible deal. Later when Pro came, it was a bit more to upgrade but so worth it. Auria does go on sale occasionally but I still feel at full price it is a steal of a deal.

Cubasis always looked cool, especially for MIDI before Auria Pro came out, but I kind off figured I was an Auria guy. Well Steinberg has a sale on until the 7th of Jan and there's a very sweet deal you can get if your interface is one of their officially recognized interfaces for Cubasis.

Look on the website under Cubasis LE and if you have an accepted interface the free demo version (that just allows playback not recording) of LE opens up into the LE version, with 4 audio & 4 midi recording tracks.

Now, those with the interface 'registered' Cubasis LE can then get the IAP upgrade to Cubasis 2 for not $24.99 like if you bought it straight, but for $14.99, LE users with the recognized interface get the full version. And since the two IAP effects are also on sale for 3.99 you can get the Cubasis 2 DAW complete for well under $25...

Some will say two DAWs is overkill, more stuff to learn etc but to me there's so much included with Cubasis (synths, drums, pianos, etc) that it's like another instrument/effect on your palette even if you don't use it as your main DAW. I like having the choice and letting the different workflows influence me in different ways and to let the happy accidents happen.

Auria is still my main DAW if I had to choose, but I'm digging getting to know Cubasis, especially this late in the game. It was just too cool of a deal to shine on...

Not really sure how this old thread got dug up again, so I will presume you may be answering someone else's question other than my original post :)

Yeah I agree though it's good to have both. While I was debating getting rid of one or the other, I kept both and ditched some pianos instead lol.

  • Agree with both (if possible). As soon as I stopped seeing it as a pissing contest I realized that sometimes for some things I find myself happier in one than the other....why not? All tools in the box etc.
