The update sounds, looks and feels great.

All additions are perfectly implemented for iOS use and feature well-thought-out usability concepts, to support you best from capturing ideas or working on musical masterpieces.

The waiting time is getting shorter and we're eager to hear your feedback, once the updates have been released.

If you've missed the previous postings, I can share these infos at this moment:

    • Zooming will be improved in the arrange window, as well as audio and MIDI editors

    • The update comes free for existing users

    • The update will be ready for iOS 10

Just saw that iOS 10 is expected to be announced this week, sounds like Cubasis 2 is due roughly the same time and maybe even sooner ("update will be ready for iOS 10").

Why choose? Sometimes it takes two screwdrives to fix the screw...

I feel 'more at home' with the Cubasis approach and jumping between daws or using multiple daws only adds to the confusion... Also I'm really trying to streamline my app-collection to hopefully become more focused and productive.
(Gadget, Cubasis, AU-X's and select IAA-Instruments and 'Processing apps'(Final Touch etc.)). Also my 64GB iPad is starting to get crowded being a recovering app-a-holic...

I do mess around with AUM and other apps too to create stuff (Samples and Loops) that will hopefully find some usage in the other apps...

There will never be a 'Golden App' that does it all. Most people are by nature able to find things that can be improved in just about anything but sometimes is better for the pease of mind to settle with something that is 'good enough for me' and I can bet that I can find things to improve in almost anything I touch :)

I felt the same recently. I thought that the time to learn both Auria Pro and Cubasis would be counter productive. I thought that the cost on my 64gb was too great.

I have since changed my mind. I have deleted lots of Lyra instruments, shrinking Auria Pro down in size. I then changed my thinking. My mindset of two apps and lots of learning has been changed. I now look at what I use of both the apps and only care about the positives I get from sharing between the apps. It now works for myself.

Not saying this change of mindset will work for you, but if it's size, a Lyra cul may help.

how large is it without the lyra instruments?

  • @nick how large is it without the lyra instruments?

Difficult to say now as I've got quite a few projects stored.

Auria Pro was at 5gb plus. I deleted it down to around 2.5gb. It's now at 3gb. I have not deleted all from Lyra.

  • I'm with @Samu, not in the t-shirt slogan sense, I could happily work with Cubasis for the next x years and still feel like I am learning and pushing my music and exploring new ways of making sound. There are a huge number of synths, effects, etc.. In my toolbox that I haven't explored fully yet. At some point, the music has to come from you. I could keep piling on the toys but that feels a bit soulless of late and I feel like I have to buckle down and actually make something to feel like an achievement.

Lecture over. Now back to the App Store

Snap, well that and the fact that I don't have enough space on my iPad to even install Auria.

I restarted using Cubasis this weekend after some time away from it, as I wanted to capture some live jamming instead of programming loops, and once again I found it a wholly pleasurable experience.

    Awaiting the update eagerly. :)

As much as I am looking forward to it part of me is thinking I shall wait a bit until others dive in... I just recall another daw that had some serious performance hits after a major update... I am sure it will be fine though... ...probably. Yes. Yes it will.

Drove my 13 year old to school today and after a long debate viz the headphone jack issue as to merits/drawbacks/the needs of the market etc he solemnly declared: Dumb move. So there you have it.

  • Dumb move. So there you have it.

I'm in the same camp. I'm a big Apple fan, but their connector monkey business is aggravating.

  • Whilst I don’t have an iPhone [1] I’ve had wireless headphones for many years, can't remember how long, but I've been through two sets of Sony MW-600 units and now that both are worn out I've stopped listening to stuff on headphones on my phone altogether. I've been wireless for so long that Bluetooth headphones seem the natural way to me now.

[1] Too much money required for a phone, my Sony Ericsson W800i is still good, and lasts a week on a charge, Actually, I'm on Android really, and I'm really enjoying how far ahead Android is getting for phone wrangling.

  • I've seem rumors online that Apple will be using a different wireless technology than bluetooth to better accommodate audio. Taking that with a grain of salt though.

That sounds to me more like it will work with iOS 10 and isn't reffing to any specific timing for the release... I will be happy to be wrong though. :)

Does anybody remember the freakout when Apple removed the floppy drive from ALL future Macs? How will I get my spreadsheet to my colleagues!?
Turned out we all had email within weeks. This could be good.

I think I read somewhere that Apple is rumored to have improved the lag with a proprietary bluetooth innovation? All anyone is going to see is WATERPROOF IPHONE. Those of us who care about sound are sort of left scrambling. But if we get non-lag wireless midi keyboards out of this, I'm all for it.

I case of emergency the Apple CCK3 will work as power-source and my trusty Behringer UCA-202 will supply input&ouput + headphone amp conntected to a hub with some iRig Keys too.

And I saw somewhere that there will be a Lightning to 3.5mm jack included...
