While we're on the topic of loop functionality, is it just me or does anyone else think it might be useful for loop type software to have the option of easily inserting a quantifiable amount of silence anywhere in the loops at any time? It would be interesting to build a song "from the inside out" using loops and silence rather than a timeline or copying and changing sections. But I may be weird in my thinking.

If I'm recording into Blocs, there's usually a silent bit at the start of my recorded sample, so I use that slice for the silent bits.

Maybe, maybe not. If things keep going as they are, we might even see Blocs Wave 3 evolved into something three times the current price, but with the kind of upper level functionality discussed here. I'd be in, straight away.

  • I'd be in straight away too, but waiting until something like that happened to find out if something like that would happen is a painful habit I'm trying to break... Just tell me what you plan to do, let me do my part and pay for it, and get on with making music. I don't have another 2 years to waste.

Not wasted time at all. BW is already seriously good. You can be using that, and the very regular updates, while waiting for the big stuff.

Cubasis 2 took a while to arrive, and we don't yet have AB 3, but no time was wasted using the forerunners, which were already great!

Good phylosophy man... I think I have the same painful habit and need to try to break it also ;-)

  • @blocsxnovation, is it possible to add the IAA logo and transport bar please?

It is a PITA to be clicking the home button all the time when I want to use it in AUM and need to switch back and forth...

    THANKS

I'm still hoping for per slice pitch tuning/transposing. There have been lots of loop changes, but it's time for the tuning/transposing capabilities to get more love.

I'm always for IAA transport controls!! +1 from me!

If i get what you are saying i am pretty sure you can do this with blocs. Just turn velocity 'on', zoom to the slice size you want and then when you tap at the bottom of the slice key it inserts a blank slice of that size.

  • @AudioGus yeah I get that, I was thinking more along the lines of inserting a certain number of bars before, after, or in the middle without re recording or copying pasting. kind of like how you can just add bars in gadget, but without the fiddly ness. I don't think it exists the way I'm thinking.

Ahh, I see what you are saying.

I would love it if someone came up with a focused 'loop centric' arrangement app. Not another DAW (no midi, no iaa or au hosting, recording etc). An app that just lets you load a bunch of shortish stems into a pallet and then you can easily highlight sections and pop them onto a timeline where you can quickly drop in fx, control automation, basic mixing etc. Right now I take my Blocs stems to a PC Daw for editing but it feels like something could be on iOS that is fast and intuitive for bringing it together as silky smooth as Blocs is at making loops.

  • gus you ever tried this one?.... don't think it has panning though

This was my hope for Launchpad. Launchpad would be about 90 percent of the way there if it had separate audio outs and allowed you to record GUI motions like clip launch, track volume and changes to effects parameters

Those years weren’t lost. They simply weren’t the way I’d planned them. (Vonnegut)

Launchpad is more of a live launchy thing right? I would like a non-destructive / non-committal noodeler.

Mister, that's pretty much most of us at this point....

  • You guys get it!

For the record, @blocsxnovation I think the simplest interface for pitch per slice in the future, would be to have a button for pitch next to velocity. You'd just slide up and down + or - 12 semitones right on the slices the way you do with velocity. it could be used for a fixed adjustment or wildly inaccurate chromatic playing. But it would have to slide smoothly and not be fiddly. My two cents.

Great quote. Pretty much all of them end up that way.

I put Aum in Audiobus and send it to Blocs Wave. Then I put Egoist in Aum which sends to Audiobus. Then I record Egoist into Blocs Wave. I usually set up a bunch of patterns to randomly play slices in Egoist and then do the slicing/happy accident discovery in Blocs. Also, putting Effectrix on top of Egoist in Aum is a nice touch too.

In the end everything from Blocs Wave winds up in a PC daw for more editing.

Gus, you made my day <3
Opens up whole bunch of possibilities...THANKS

  • Aww glad to help!

This would work! Anything would be an improvement!

  • @blocsxnovation
    @LaunchpadforIOS

I'd love to use FX from launchpad app on the sessions I've recorded first inside Blocs. Is a Blocs Wave session/8 tracks straight transfer to Launchpad app lane something being still worked on?
Thanks in advance for your answer

  • A few things about my current Blocs Wave experience:
    1. The panning implementation you have is BRILLIANT. A horizontal panning interface like that is exactly what I'd like for EVERY app I own that keeps making me use a damn virtual "knob."
    2. When you switch between 8-loop "scenes" at the top, it would be so much better if there was an option to have the current scene "complete" before switching to the newly chosen one (you know, to keep everything in time).
    3. While that last comment would sustain me, I still dream of the day when loop sequencing becomes a reality in Blocs Wave and/or Launchpad. Playing live is fun, but I require PERFECTION!
    4. What Johnba said up there... ^

Thank you for the wonderful app!!!

  • does blocs wave allow you to import samples from your iTunes library now?

  • Yet another amazing update available now!!!!

Thank you so much BW team!!!!

  • Are we happy with the update?

I'm still trying to figure out what's new lol

  • Are there any videos with people performing with this app? Just curious to see it in action. I own it but struggle with take off.
