  • Must just be a general maintenance update?

If you move the start maker and stop the loop now it will restart at the location of the marker.

    No small thing right there....

  • Can't believe the1-star reviews. Just left another review to help balance out the bad ones. These guys don't deserve it.

That was already in the last update.

That's terrible, it's a brilliant app. Can't remember if I did a review but if not I'll do a five star one later.

Currently, I admit that I'm not able to review it... I would give 5 stars to what could be done with the app if it had slip-wrap/roll and slices export functionnalities, but if I evaluate in terms of how I can use it in my workflow currently, I'd have to give a 1-2 star max as I cannot use it most of the time...

And that's why star reviews don't work well.

I would say giving a general mark for the whole app is problematic. But Es, it's been discussed many times before.

I don't think that's fair - it should be judged on what it's supposed to do, not what you want it to do.

I'm not going to knock two stars off my Auria review because it doesn't make me a nice cup of tea.

  • I gave it Five stars before and after last update.

Smart app, lots of updates and easy to use.

    Hey @ElGrego,
We're sorry we still haven't solved your exact user case here. In most user cases we think the update will be pretty useful though, in the case where the loops are already in time.

It seems that in your user case, there are a few specific items worth clarifying:

    1. It seems like the loops you are inputing are 'off the grid', or to put it another way 'out of time' to start with. My guess is that these are either recorded in? or you are sampling from records, or importing from elsewhere?
    2. It also seems that specifically they last for no more than 'one-loop-length' hence there is silence at the end.

These two specific items are indeed a challenge. There are a few resolutions we can suggest making use of the features already in Blocs Wave:

    1. If you are record-looping then play the extra loop (i.e. repeat it). This will remove the silence issue (This is clearly not an option if you are 'Live-looping' in real-time). This solution will allow you to use 'slip' mode to adjust the start point (i.e. correct the timing), use looping to set your loop point, and use the new start marker easily have fun setting a new '1'.
note: In this case you can then press flatten to make this change permanent and then slice away with everything in time :-)

    2. If you only have one loop length (i.e. with no repeat), and the loop is still out of time, then I guess slipping the audio is not a solution. In this case you're correct that the start marker snaps to the grid. Options here on our side for this case include:

      a. Slip roll as you suggest (note that this will not affect slice mode as they are independant, unless you flatten the file, in which case you can then slice away)
      b. Remove snap from the start marker (you'll still need to flatten to use slicing)

Either way, we'd love a recap of your exact workflow and user cases just to double check if the assumptions above are correct. Just drop us a line on [email protected] and we'll see how we can work through it and really understand things.

For everyone else, we hope you're having fun with the putting the '1' in fun places!

    The Blocs Team.

Are moveable slice points in the works?

Then thank you for being fair and not discouraging sales. If an app delivers what it promises, and at a very good price for the consumer, it deserves praise not condemnation. If it doesn’t work for me personally, I blame myself for buying it, not the developer.

If an app deserves high praise, then it should get lots of great reviews to drown out the few negative ones. That’s up to the users.

Exactly what I meant... For me, BW does not deliver what it promises (at least, it does not deliver what I thought it could do when I read the description)... But I don't want to condemn the developers as it is probably my fault, putting too much hopes in it from the beginning, so I don't put any review yet (I prefer waiting in hope that one day I'll be able to give a 5 star review to this app which has so much potential)...

PS : I'm only talking about the missing slip-wrap/roll functionnality ("à la Loopy HD"), it seems so obvious to me that it is needed (not to say mandatory) in a loop based app (I really wonder who had the idea that when sliping a loop to resynch it, it would be good to introduce a silence/blank at the beginning or the end of the loop ? lol... to be frank, I fist thought this was a bug when slip was introduced in early versions...),... I'm not talking about the slices export functionnality that was never mentionned at the beginning (there was no slices mode at the beginning from what I remember).

Maybe the competition trying dirty tricks? Either that or complete bell ends...or both.

  • It's like the Swiss Army knife of apps. You may not need it all the time but you'd feel naked without.

I think this is the only sensible way, perhaps make the snap an option ? There are definitely also times when you do want the start marker quantised.

If you think about it, fine start marker adjustment + flatten = slip roll

Sure seems like this would nail it for Master Loco and given that Novation mentioned it I would just look forward to it happening.

  • Wait how do you remove snap from the start marker? Or is this a thing for a later update?

You cannot do it now but it was listed as a potential update solution.

I'd be in straight away too, but waiting until something like that happened to find out if something like that would happen is a painful habit I'm trying to break... Just tell me what you plan to do, let me do my part and pay for it, and get on with making music. I don't have another 2 years to waste.

gus you ever tried this one?.... don't think it has panning though

    http://discchord.com/blog/2012/6/29/musaico-is-now-universal-and-on-sale.html

Looks really intersting but I cannot see in the vids if it is possible to edit the clips/loops (i.e. slicing them and most important to me... resynching them lol... yeah, I'm still desperatly looking for an app provinding this functionnality).
Do you know what can be done to the clips you import ?
