AIR1 9.5.3 reporting in. We have confirmed AB audio. Over
@LeonLeroy make sure blocs wave is on the record page and have monitor turned on or you won't hear anything. I always forget these conditions and think it's all messed up.
thanks, somehow the mic was off. lol
Had some fun tonight with this joyous app: https://soundcloud.com/policarpo-wood/to-just-disappear
So when's this update gonna drop?
Well, everybody got a turn at the mic and the wish list grew and grew. So I'm guessing 2017, second quarter. Right after the next Beatmaker 3 announcement.
@Echoopera — this is great stuff. I love the movement along the woozy/mekanik axis.
a matter of weeks
what update?
The one with the marker where you can set the "1" of the loops. Fulfills the same purpose as would the wrap around slip.
Ahh i see. I don't really need it. Everything i record is perfect. (Link and sequenced, not skill
)
Right, but if I understand correctly, with this feature, you could record a "long" sequence and select loop(s) from it, instead of recording every single loop you want to use one by one... Or maybe not ??!?
You never use external loops and you never sample existing records/songs ?
For me, Bloc Waves in its current state (v8.0) is still a beta sofware with lot of loveable features but not useable most of the time as I cannot synch my loops with each others... So this next update (Bloc Waves 9.0 or Bloc Waves X lol ?) will be like the real realease of Bloc Waves on my side (and I plan to finally buy a few soundpacks to thank the developpers if I can finally use Bloc Waves in my Workflow).
Peace
Interesting take, hardly beta software![ ](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smiley.png)
I was just curious. But if it makes it at all easier to grab loops from longer sequences without fear that you might not be able o get the perfect cut, I'm all for it.
I started my sentence with 'For me' man... and ended it with 'on my side'... I guess I made it clear that this was my own feeling.
I (would like to) use Bloc Waves to test how samples/loops sound together and to try some slicing before I really chop my samples/loops in BM2 to use them in Korg Gadget... So, having no means to resynch samples make the apps unuseable in most cases... And an app which show great potential but cannot be used because it is missing some major basic functionnalities, is a beta app IMO... that's all.
What I still don't understand is how other people use Bloc Wave... Most people on this forum seem to use Bloc Waves a lot and have no complain regarding the lack of resynch option, which make me think that I may be trying/dreaming of using it in a way which is not intended at the beginning... But I don't understand what this use is (if it's to record loops on the go, then Loopy HD seems more adapted... if it's to play with loops, then it seems you are limited to factory/iAP loops and the few of your own sample/loops that are correctly synched with Bloc Waves factory/iAPs loops)... That's still a mystery to me :-)
I record long sequences (usualy several minutes long) but do not select loops. I just zoom in and play/arrange (record) small slices into new loops. Since everything i do is sequenced and Linked it all lines up perfectly for me.
Just because you're trying to use a toaster to make roast beef doesn't mean it's not a good toaster.
Correct. I just sync my Circuit, other ios apps, pc vsts etc to Blocs via Link or 'Link to midi' or aum. To me Blocs is not a sound editor but a sweet on the go chopper/loop/stem maker thing. Married with egoist, which lets me move slice markers, i really dont 'need' blocs to do anything else. Sure i could dream up a ton of nice things for it but for me it is awesome, waaay beyond beta.
Just because you troll on forums doesn't mean you're interesting...
Well, let's try to be constructive anyway... If you confirm that I do not use Bloc Waves as it should be used... Could you at least explain me how it is intended to be used (that's exactly what I was asking in my post) ?
I think I mostly understand how you use it (even if I'd be interested in seeing how you chop samples as it seems to me that you cannot choose the start and end of a slice in BW ?)...
Makes me think that there is not on way of using Bloc Waves... Which makes it beautiful but which probably induce a lot of different expecation from different musicians lol...
I just keep zooming in till the slice is where i want it.
Keep in mind i am also an electronic/glitch/happy accident guy. Ain't no rock n roll done on this ipad.
@ElGregoLoco I use it as a loop recorder primarily, the benefit over Loopy being that you can have 48 loops in a single project and if you don't like one of the takes, you can chop it up and play the slices and maybe that will work. I also use the built in drum loops quite a bit too when I want to jam out some chords or something with a backing beat. So in these situations, the loops are already in sync, recorded that way. I can see how bringing a bunch of different loops from various sources into the program and trying to sync them would be a frustrating experience.
Yes, very interested in the workflow with egoist.
So leaving the hardware out of it:
What sound goes into Blocs? What happens there? Where does it end up?
Ok, I get it then... Thanks for the tip on maximum zooming, I will try that, may give me interesting results ;-)
PS : I have to admit that I'm a pretty 'standard music' maker... Never been into experimental stuff... I make mostly classical boom bap Hip Hop beats with electonic twists once in a while lol. That's why I am always a bit lost with apps such as Bloc Waves, Samplr, etc... Which are praised by music scientists like you man ;-)
Thanks for the reply man... I understand why you prefer Bloc Waves more than Loopy HD in your workflow...
I do not mean to start an app war (I love all music apps developpers who proviede us with tools to have fun), but I'm pretty sure that you will come back to Loopy when Loopy ME is released...
Lighten up, Francis.
Call me Psycho ! ;-)
I want to party with you, cowboy.
Haven't followed the whole conversation, but some problems might be related to source material that's not completely locked into a tempo. With a lot of rock, jazz pop tunes (tunes played by musicians not sequencers), tempo varies all over the place, often on purpose. So sampling pre-recorded tunes could yield undesirable results. Ableton Live's warp engine deals with slight variations in tempo pretty well but it's a little pricier than Blocs Wave.![ ](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
I love Blocs. It's not perfect, but I find it so easy to record into I'm prepared to forgive it's other squiggles.
