  • Here is the teaser

  • Interesting! This is a great app.

  • is this an update then? With a new fx and amp pack I guess?

There is mention of a new Amp and FX pack, and an upgrade option like there was for Motherload 1.0 to Motherload 2.0 on their forum, but no word as to what else is in there change or improvements wise.

  • Interesting! I did buy the 2.0 upgrade - I'd be lying if I said I used it much, but that's more my fault than the app's. 2.0 added about 15 new amps/cabs, and about half of the new stuff was bass-oriented, which was nice because there wasn't a ton of bass stuff in the original bundle.

Not sure what exactly would be on my wish list for a new ToneStack upgrade - there's so many effects options as it is, and they were even dabbling into clones of a lot of popular boutique items in the last update. But I'll definitely be paying attention.

  • same as @StormJH1
I wish they'd just improve the sound of the distortions and some of the amps( and then maybe give us a more full screen device option with left and right scroll just like the iphone version)

  • I'm intrigued too.

  • I haven't taken full advantage of the current version! Just this past week I found a filter effect that I'd never used before and it sounds great... Not saying I won't buy version 3 to support the most excellent developer--just musing about the curse of abundance.

The first half of the video is acoustic, so maybe a clue there.....I instantly bought the v2.0 upgrade because of the bass stuff....not sure this time it will be an instant buy....maybe a buy it while is on intro price to keep it complete.

  • TS logo is one of my favourites. Not sure about the acoustic emulation, it sounds too much like an acoustic via piezo pickup (yuck) but definitely looking forward to what they've been cooking.

  • I still have it on my iPad but never open it because of how good Jamup Pro sounds in comparison but will definitely be seeing what an update might bring if it is free.

Yeah Looks cool with that '3' in there too. On a related note(also unimportant), not a fan of the Yonac dragon logo. Right?

  • Cool, I've been using this on gigs for the past two months. One thing I'll write to them about is I'd like the option to have a patch open to a specific device, because I have a few patches where I'm using the A/B switch to change between patches, otherwise theres a gap in sound. We do a medley of "don't stop till you get enough" into "And the Beat goes on" and I need different EQ'S for them, lots of mids in "And the beat goes on" for that crazy bass part...

  • Update is ready for download

I am unable to complete the motherload upgrade for $14.95. It says the item is being modified.

  • Yeh, same here. So exactly the same as before the download as far as what I can do with it as far as I can tell.

These situations resolve pretty quickly. Usually a hickup in the app store

  • Well drat. Reading the update notes and no Link support like I was hoping.

For anything else other than delay tempo sync?

Would be cool if it made me play my guitar in time tho...

    It just worked for me.

    Me, too!

  • I have Tonestack, but I've never bought any IAP. I'm not a guitar player, and I'm only interested in Tonestack as an effects unit.

    Any advice or recommendations?

For all tempo driven effects. Delay, tremolo, auto wah, etc.

Upgraded my motherload. Nice that they always give existing users a good deal. Hooooly cannoli this app is AMAZING. I've had it since it came out and always had the motherload, but somehow got away from using it. It sounds FANTASTIC, it is LOADED with great amps and effects for ridiculously little money. Seriously a no brainer for any guitarist. I REALLY have to investigate moving to an iPad based guitar rig.

I know I'm in the minority around here but Tonestack is far and away my favorite Amp sim. This update isn't so much an "update" as the addition of more amps and FX that are available for IAP. I don't see anything different about the app itself so far.

$15 well spent to go from Motherload 2.0 to 3.0 though.

    First impressions:

    • The 3.0 Presets suck. I almost thought I'd wasted my money on the upgrade, but I know Yonac too well to really believe that. The additions are stellar, they just fell down on the presets IMO. Probably it's just that my guitar is a different animal than the ones they used.
    • The acoustic simulator is good, but required a lot of tweaking to dial in a decent tone. Again, maybe it's my axe. Don't be discouraged if it doesn't sound great out of the box. It's almost infinitely tweakable, so probably able to get the right tone from just about any instrument.
    • The acoustic chorus sounds good.
    • I did not like the acoustic reverb at all. I finally dialed in something that worked, but IMO the other reverbs are better. The reverb is sensitive to input levels. Too high and it will sound like crap.
    • The only new delay I tried was the Tap Room. I never say OMG, but OMG! Best delay unit I have ever used. In fact, that stopped further exploration as I couldn't stop playing with it.
    • I only tried one of the new amps: Jack T' Ripper. It's ... well ... its one more in a gimongous pile of other good amps. It doesn't particularly stand out, but it's in with such a crowd that you really can't expect it to.
  • I wonder if I can upgrade from Motherload 1 to 3...

    I'm wondering the same thing.

I've got the latest, previous version of ToneStack but Motherlode 1. In the App Store they list Motherlode V2 for £39.99 and v2 Expansion for another £10.99. I doubt I'll be stumping up over fifty quid for that lot before I even get to the new ones.

Pretty sure that the v2 upgrade is all you need to purchase if you already have v1.
So I assume it should be the one that is 10.99 and that should give you the whole lot.
I'm in Australia so prices are not in uk , but I only paid about $20 or so to upgrade way back when.
