All the IAA And AU synth and (poison, animoog , the korg synth etc ) and the effect ( turnado , effectrix ) Etc .I can't find them where are they ? Imagine Auria Pro with Only the fabfilter synth ...Perhaps Im stupid and I haven't found them but everybody said that is a closed system now , a kind of groove box without midi and IAA And AU ...

Mi Tocayo (we are both Gregs), sorry I thought you were saying FL Studio Mobile instruments are missing. FLM2 wasn't an AU host either but yes IAA was added in an update. Maybe IAA and AU will be added in an update to FLM3 (maybe they'll be added to Gadget too.)

I don't think FLM3 is competing with Auria...and price wise not really with Gadget either. But Gadget is closer, in terms of being a closed system. Gadget is essentially a sketch pad, and is (lately) been set up to feed tracks to DAWs. Without its add on synths and modules ($200+) it's also built around 2 osc synths, (mostly sample based PCM rather than synths as such) preconfigured in different flavors.

But yes I definitely agree, FLM3 doesn't include things I appreciated in FLM2. It has stuff I like better too. (synthesis, workflow, mostly) I don't miss the IAA implementation, workflow, or GUI of 2, they were borrowed from Music Studio, and were not fluid for me at all, I miss .wav editing and stem export though.

  • I'm quite happy with this purchase to be honest but I didn't own the previous version so I don't feel any loss of features. Saw a few videos first and it looked and sounded interesting enough for me to try. There's room for improvements of course but the workflow, the look and the sound are all quite nice and enjoyable in my opinion.

    @Littlewoodg

IAA was added as an update to version 2 after IAA came out. It would have been hard to include it before Apple invented it. Whereas support for it existed in version 2 and Imageline decided to release a new version removing features that would have been important in people's buying decisions.

Also FLM 2 did have a synth built in, which had the same features as the FLM3 mini synth.

Personally I think the FLM3 workflow sucks. Every time I go to scroll I end up accidentally moving clips around.
Plus and this may just be my fading eyesight I find it almost impossible to see which track is which due to the ridiculously small font size they are using. It was previously possible to share instr instruments from the forum but now you need access to direct wave.

So all in all there's nothing new that is compelling and that couldn't have been added on to the existing version
just removal of existing functions to make their life easier.

Not only that, all the nice iCloud Drive / DocumentPicker support is gone and we're left with AudioCroppy...

I gave them your lecture on the IL forum a few minutes ago, professing the glories of Filepicker....

    Thanks!
I have an account there too but since I'm not a 'Fruityloops Fanboy' I've not posted anything there :)

I did purchase both Transistorbass and GMS to show my support so I hope it will be useable at some point in time. Right now I just get a head-ache from trying to read the microscopic fonts...

  • I'm taking a pass - is Porntris still getting updates?

  • If there's no IAA and AudioBus support, why do they mention it on their app store page? :#

    @BiancaNeve
Yep it had MiniSynth, which I appreciated at the time as an addition to what was essentially a synthless "Music Studio EDM". I like the new synth better, but both both are good to have.

(IAA: yes, in my post above I also noted that it was added in an update in FLM 2, and maybe they'll put it into FLM 3. Personally I thought the IAA in FLM2 was a pain, but this and other workflow preferences are personal, as our friend @JohnnyGoodyear says, horses for courses.) I receive FLM3 as a sketchpad like 2, and since I had bought 2 when it dropped (with the various IAP) I'm giving this one a shot. I don't mind that it doesn't have features that all my other DAWs have, I'm looking for something that's fluid enough and sounds good enough to inspire. So far that's covered.

Font wise: those little gray smears on the tracks are words? Shit, my eyes really are gone...

  • One thing to remember is that since the release of the Android version there has been a steady stream of updates addressing issues, there is no reason to think it will be any different for this iOS version.

    Have faith people.

I really hope they add UI-Scaling so the text can be made 'readable'. The fonts used are just insanely too small :(

I'm going to reserve judgment on this before making any knee jerk comments. I need to spend some time with it. In my view, Image-line are a pretty good company and they know what they're doing.

Yes, it's a closed system (like Gadget), does that make it a non-starter ?

well it was an open system with iaa instruments and effects. and for the sake of improvement (which i can not see btw) they opted to close it...

Not only that, all the nice iCloud Drive / DocumentPicker support is gone and we're left with AudioCroppy...

Where is AudioCopy? I rendered out a short piece and I can find it in my user samples but I don't see any way to Copy/Paste or send it anywhere. Give me Document Picker/AudioShare/iCloud Drive support any day. Even Dropbox...

If you render your project, then save as audio file, then open it as an audio track, you can "export wave" from the track header menu. Also a way to "bounce down" submixes like the olden days.

  • Has anyone tried the syncing options with the app on windows? It seems to work between laptop to iPad but going back to laptop and windows the iOS app crashes!

OK - thanks! I haven't had a chance to delve into audio tracks yet. Maybe tonight!

very interested in what the sample editing is like and if it's destructive or non-destructive?

No sample edit at all just pan pitch and volume.

    ok better now

Hoping they'll put in the .wav editor. At least those params are automatable

  • the fL devs usually don't half do stuff, it's kind of weird.

Fl Studio 3 works in the input slot in Audiobus. Have not had any success using it in the output slot yet.

It also works as an IAA in AUM, but no sync

  • I wouldn't hold my breath for IAA or AU support within the app. It's a cross platform app with the goal to have complete feature parity between platforms. As only iOS supports IAA how would projects transition between platforms?

The only way I can think of is if the tracks were frozen to audio. That would have to be accomplished before opening the project on another platform.

I'm just guessing, but I wouldn't be surprised if the strategy is to keep it a completely closed system.

  • let's keep in mind it was apple who made billions as a darling dreamgirl of the walled garden/closed system, and let's not forget it was that same dreamgirl who took my 3.5mm jack...i had a point but i cant remember what it was.

  • Apple didn't sneak into your house and remove the 3.5mm jack from your existing itoys they just aren't providing it in the current new phone which you may or not buy.

Image line have taken away functions that I paid for from my existing idevices.

  • Has anyone found a way to resize the onscreen piano keys???
They are so small on the iPad Air2 i need to use a stylus, arghhhhh!

Two finger gesture in the border above the keys, either side of that little control panel, spread fingers out for wider keys...

Two fingers back and forth scrolls octaves back and forth...

One of the reasons I gravitate towards Gadget is that it is a closed system (albeit with a lot of options) It's stable, all the instruments and FX always open fine, all the presets and parameters and everything opens up properly.

Personally, I didn't use the previous version of FL, so it's not such an issue for me.

yes, it is a close system which guarantees reliability but it allows integration via Link, AB, IAA and copy and paste in and out of the system. Does FL allow this?

I'm completely in agreement with you, just elaborating ;)

It actually looks like they mean to go one better (AB host with audio tracks) but it's buggy (BG audio is fukt right now)

Ok...well...mmm... let's think about it. Are there any other reports of this happening in a massive scale? Haven't read anything like this myself. Otherwise it's just a conspiracy theory. Apple would be facing major lawsuits, it would be widely reported as well. The tech sites would certainly not be protecting Apple (Apple negative press generates lots of clickbait titles and revenue).
I'm full of old and new Apple iOS devices, the headphone jack still works in all of them, also keep in mind that the headphone jack it's still present in the new MacBook Pro models and reports point out new iPad models in the spring will be keeping it as well, making the move you described would make no sense.

My only MacBook it's the last one that was released with optical drive (2012 I think) that doesn't mean Apple just bricked the drive, It still works. Even an iPod 1gen still works if you connect it to iTunes in 2016.
