More reports of crashing on Facebook mpc groups..

what is the usb-A thing he's talking about?
whether the usb-a will work as a host port
apparently Icepulse got his new mpc, hopefully he'll chime in and let us know what it's like
@mireko, thanks. The thing I find disheartening is that the 3 devs dan, Jeff, and the other guy are no where to be found, at least I can't find them anywhere talking about the mpc live and giving people the answers they need. I can't stand that kind of thing when they have released the product and the only face I keep seeing is Andys.... I don't like it.
yeah again pretty standard akai procedure, same thing happened with the ren release
Just kidding. Let's hope they fix the bugs almost for a year...
I'm still refreshing myself on the old 1.9 feature set, so I haven't gotten too far into new aspects.
I've experienced no crashing, but a few momentary hang-ups in terms of adjusting Q-link effect parameters with a track running.
Not seeing real-time swing adjustment, and I noticed the software settings allow you to choose warp algorithm, but on the device, it's locked to "MPC" warp algo.
Battery life seems good.
thanks for the info icepulse, just to clarify since it was in this video by soundsforsamplers realtime swing would have had to of been taken out?
Ya'll know I'm Akai/InMusic cynical so allow me to put a positive hypothetical spin on this. They decided it would be most efficient to have one public facing dev so that the rest of the team can get solid blocks of time to get actual work done. If I were them, that's what I would do.
that's what I would do too, they used to have dan out there cause he could speak to everything but now it's just Andy and don't get me wrong he's cool, but he's constantly saying 'I don't know, I'm not a developer, I'll get the answers for you' and he never does.
if you watch his video from a namm with sounds and gear.com host saint Joe. it's nerve racking.... and in another video he says he doesn't know anything about modular synths, but that we've got this whiz kid who's going to start making videos next week and show everything etc.... sEVERAL weeks later and there's Andy on sonicstate doing modular demos that don't answer any questions. Grrrrrrr
as far as the software I'm not worried about it, just want to know what's there and where it's going....dubbylabby knows about a mysterious beatmachine that doesn't have any bugs in it's 1.0 release but he's not tellin
Beat thang @kobamoto? lol
haha I bought the beat thang on the day it was released, it was literally the worst beatmachine I'd ever used. I gave it 2 weeks though, then took it back to best buy and got my $1500 back
hey do you guys know if the elektron Rytm has the probability features of the digitakt?
https://www.google.com/search?q=elektron+rytm+probability
extremely dismayed to find out there's no pad link function on the mpc live, but on a positive note there is a tempo track divide function for slowing down and speeding up the tracks kinda like elastic drums which is cool, also an explode feature feature that takes the elements of your sequence and splits them into individual tracks, combine those with the pad/track mutes feature, clip triggering, and next sequence feature and you can get allot going and that's just scratching the surface according to the manual...
2 things I am not looking forward to are the touch screen (yuck) and it's too damn big imo
And now the mpc live? What's going be next... MC-307?
:V
you Neve know
akai and elektron are making important impressions on the industry, as well as Behringer.
For close to a decade native instruments has been controlling the narrative fueled by the power of the blind following of the majority of their userbase and refusing to implement long standing basic standard omissions while simultaneously feeding that same base a steady diet of sample packs and heralding themselves as the arbiter of this current future's state of the art, and they were allowed to get away with it because the base didn't have any idea that tempo changes, and time signature changes etc... were features available in groove boxes that came out 20 years ago..............and thought that automating the tempo in a song, even a song mode itself was only the purview of unicorns and something the elders called DAWs but no more, now the masses are becoming aware of the fact that for the last 8 or so years the term state of the art really meant the art of the take, let them eat cake , and here's a sample pack for your troubles.
People were stunned at the features they were getting in $5, $12, $20 iPad apps and began to look at their $999 sequencer with less basic capabilities and shudder. Out of sheer desperation that same fanbase started to chant no more stand alone, no more stand alone, no more stand alone, until finally rumors of roland hit them claw at the sun and gnash their teeth and then Bam!! akai hit them in the head with a stand alone and broke the great wide open open again amid the cries of ... 'blasphemy... here here blasphemy my good sir'. ... Now the bowels of the beast have been disturbed. The people were hungry and native gave them jamm that was about as good as a can of spam, the people suckled but were not consoled, give us recordable mutes they chanted for we know now that you can even get that for a few dollars on an iOS app and surely it's the case that a daw is needed for such trivial dressings... the legends of the old ones were true after all, we were capable of these dark arts long, long ago but the truth had been hidden from the people by the so called future. Then out of the turmoil and disgust came a new day, and beat machine developers on all platforms were able to dream again, the cogs are turning once more, the fires are burning once more, features that were once outlawed are being featured once more and all is looking well.
I've heard some talk that the standalones don't have the complex warp mode. I wonder if the units in the pre-release demos did have the complex warp for demo purposes ?!
I don't think so cause it sounded terrible on those pellas,
haha true
here's the good stuff I'm interested in..that it does have
individual track lengths for interesting patterns
tempo automation
the audio clips allow you to start the clip anywhere inside the loop like ableton
mute recording
next sequence trigg
the looper
the mpc sequencer under all of this
I think they could have charged $400 less and left out the touch screen
yeah still great stuff in here, i will grab one in 6month i reckon. one the dust settles and everything is tweaked. in the meantime the digitakt and BM3 should keep me busy
I'm seriously consuming everything I can find on the Rytm right now, trying to see just how much I can possibly bend it to my organic will
an interesting tidbit on how quick the workflow is in this clip, I particularly like the 4:35 mark where he's sampling to pads in realtime. Anyway for a novice to the mpcs workflow he's moving pretty quick, that's always a good sign
@mireko pretty good read of issues here,
https://www.gearslutz.com/board/electronic-music-instruments-electronic-music-production/1122864-mpc-live-131.html
@kobamoto Thanks for that video. At the start, he's loading samples from the USB stick. Then at around 1:20 he's assigning to pads. Is the first part just loading them into a local/RAM pool?
Can you not preview effects before selecting one?
Reminded me the Korg Microsampler live sampling, great finding
@kobamoto awesome thanks! Looks like a pretty smooth workflow. I like what he did with the iPhone. Does any one know what cord he used that's connect to the phone and mpc live?
@syrupcore, if it's like other mpcs then the samples have to be loaded into the ram pool, which is 2gigs on the mpc live I think..., good question about previewing fx before selecting, I'm not sure I've ever seen that before
@korakios, I was so surprised that they never put the microsampler in a box with some pads and a kaosspad.. it seems like korg just operates on wims, they never look like they are desperate to sell you something.
@Noirflux, I think it's just an standard 1/8 audio cable, looks like it's got a stereo split in it cause both left and right streams are showing on the record input meter
looks like the dev says that more time stretching is coming on his twitter
