It's even cooler than this. It automatically starts/stop recording based on threshold.
I can't remember where the setting is, because I had the Ren & Touch a while ago and I kept switching gear so it's a mess in my head. Look for it in the manual or Youtube.
ipad/iphone makes such a great sound module
I see the analogy as I mostly use iOS apps (IAA-Instrument/Generator and AUv3) as sound-source for BM3 when creating samples. For those used to iMPC Pro or 'Cubasis' style of sampling IAA/AUv3 BM3 will be quite different.
Load a 'Plug-In' to any pad and uses that 'pad' as the source when sampling.
The Plug-In sampler can be used to 'play' the instrument and record/sample it to other pad/pads.
(This is how I did the Ruismaker quick-sampling stuff).
If you need to 'sequence' the plug-in create a pattern for the 'pad' and then do synced recording to another pad with the sequenced pad as the source. It may sound more complicated than it is but after a few tries it's second nature
Apparently midi CC messages can't be recorded:
https://c.getsatisfaction.com/akai_professional/topics/does-akai-mpc-live-x-support-external-controllers-like-ableton-push-if-not-is-there-any-plan-to-implement-it?utm_source=notification&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=merge&utm_content=topic_link
Push is class compliant??
sweet
yet... unless you do it via q-link, same ole bs that native instruments started with maschine... but akai have already seen the light... this is possible on all of the other mpcs and will be updated.... devs cut the strangest things like they cut the ability to custom assign midi notes to pads cause everybody else was doing it like that until long time users complained now it's coming back in an update.
good question, I don't think so but it might be, I've Never tried that, if you don't find out before tonight I'll give it a try
It seems it is but surely the magic with Ableton comes from its remote scripts.

Anyways, if it's then should work with these host ports in the new mpcs... about CC recording in these... they can't record external data? It doesn't makes sense...
they can record external data via the mpc Qlinks, the external cc controller control is coming in an update
well loooooky heeeeeeeeere no need to wait for an update, I thought that was strange as all of my other mpcs do it.
Oh that is good news.
Glad to see it added. It's a must for mixing with something like bcf2000
the price thing is weird and definitely needs clarification check this out, their talking about raising prices in Europe but in the states the mpc live has been 1199. from the get go, yet there are many people now talking about getting the mpc live for 995... I paid 1199 for mine (not received yet) but I'm going to see about matching prices down to 995
who knows what is going on?
995? I'm sorely tempted to sell everything and go for it at that price, but I'll hold my horses till I see someone using the looper in a video
I'll report back if I'm able to get the price match, gonna try tomorrow.
At this point, there is no external MIDI control over the looper. If you were hoping to use it like a hardware looper (or software looper with MIDI support), it's not there yet.
I asked Pete on Twitter a while ago about being able to map external MIDI controllers to on screen buttons and Q Link functions. He said "Interesting idea. It's possible." or something promising yet ultimately vague. I somehow doubt it will happen because, even with the lack of scribble strips, it seems that would eat into the MPCX's sales.
2 questions...
I assume you can start recording without "tic" or almost routed to headphones, right?
That workflow is avairable in standalone mode or only in controller mode?
ITOH...

New Aira Sampler? And if it happens... will be under 1000€?
I can't write this without laugh myself xD
I want to believe (but after dj808 I don't expect miracles from Roland/Boss)
Wtf. They've raised the price considerably on Thomann.de
http://thomann.de/ro/akai_mpc_live.htm
I'm the eternal optimist man, I just can't fathom living in a world where there is no hope for a sampler from Roland, love their samplers too much
Me too but the last deception with dj808 get me bored. I hope they release something in this way but surely it will be expensive as hell or another boutique toy.
in spite of having further request I still feel spoiled.... they've got something here and it's more than character. it's like a good cup of coffee a unique blend, and look at that 'not stopping the music/creativity' to do your thang and fly it in................ good job
I look at it this way, what else am I going to spend my money on
, I don't wear jewelry or watches.
if it cost more than 1000€ I will buy a jewelry watch before than it.

what's the nearest competing product for £799 over there?
