Yes I think we all have to be patient, still, most usually the release of the app follows announcement rather quickly.

  • I'm still hopeful for an imminent iOS release. Again, the official Korg gadget page linked to from the App Store, linked to from within gadget itself is now advertising audio tracks and there's no "coming soon" anywhere. In fact, the only "coming soon" is referencing the mac version. Either it's only a matter of time, or Korg just doesn't have their shit together with product info/advertising.

  • Or Apple is holding it back ;)

Someone at Korg messed up with the iWavestation release....I really doubt they will let that happen again.

  • Isn't there someone at NAMM having a go on it who can tell me exactly how audio tracks work?

Come on... this is the internet isn't it? :)...

I doubt this too, Apple make money out of it as well.

  • Anyone have any thoughts on the new drum machine?

I'm a bit disappointed that it's not a drum synth. You can already put samples in Bilbao (which I don't do that much because it's too much hassle).

A nice SeekBeats/iElectribe type thing to twiddle with would have been great. (I know we have Tokyo... but it's pretty limited)

  • It mentions patterns as well as kits didn't it?

Did it? I need to go and have another look...

Patterns are surely covered by the pianoroll?

  • Not finding it on the new gadget page at the Korg website but when I saw mention of it I took notice. Perhaps my mind is playing tricks on me.

  • Gadget was first launched on 23.01.2014 according to their site.

Would nice if version 3 was out by the 23rd.

    It mentions containing 'beats'... Intriguing...

Yes it did mention patterns, if it is not just Bilbao resturctured then looking at what controls are there perhaps it is an MPC type device - use the pads to build a pattern, then in another mode use the pads to trigger those patterns ?

Perhaps next time we should all club together and send a spy :D

Well... We should be able to wait, one day or two won't make a big difference after 3 years waiting for the audio tracks.

    ...What am I saying ?
I CAN'T WAIT ! PLEASE KORG RELEASE IT NOW ;-) lol

Seriously, I'm so happy about the announced updates for iOS... Korg are really the king of digital music nowadays ;-)

[Edit] Sorry If I don't care for the Mac version, but I cannot afford a Mac, so... (is a Windows version possible?)

They do seem to be absolutely smashing it right now.

Although i've been saying this for 3 years :)...

I suspect we'll start to see "proper" releases by more well known artists being created with Gadget instruments, now that it's migrated to desktop. Which can only be a good thing for iOS music i'd have thought.

I hope it sells really well on desktop and gets to Reason / Ableton status. Then I think they will continue to pump resources into it.

  • I wonder if you can sync Bilbao's user kits between the two platforms

  • I also wonder about patches...

It seems crazy that there is no secondary market in selling / sharing Gadget synth patches. I wonder if that will change now it's come to desktop.

  • I'm wondering how much usage Bilbao will get once the new 'sampler' is in place?
Will the new 'sampler' be able to map one sample across the keyboard?(so it can be played as an instrument?).

I'm hoping there will be a smooth way to re-sample tracks/scenes into the new sampler as well.

Hopefully it will also include tools for trimming and normalising the recorded audio.

Needless to say I'm re-loading the app-store many times eveyr hour to see if the update is there...
    Am I desperate? YES!

  • Wait, which new sampler?

    I suspect there won't be a keyboard - just 16 pads.

And we're not even sure you can put audio into it are we? It just talks about being loaded with 30 kits.

  • no sample import would be really sad, although there s allready bilbao

  • I think your 3-years-to-the-day bet is a pretty good one @Matt_Fletcher_2000, or maybe that's just me liking a certainty elegance/tidiness in the marketing area. Can't quite believe that it's not been longer actually. Seems like Gadget's always been around somehow....

I wish I we could read those buttons better... anyone make them out?

    Patch name - Master effect
Wave form (with two button-like things at the end)
    Start - Length - Decay - ?
    Pitch - ? - ? - ?
    One shot - reverse - ? - ?

Looks pretty Bilbao like to me...
