Don't think you can import your own samples

I think your 3-years-to-the-day bet is a pretty good one @Matt_Fletcher_2000, or maybe that's just me liking a certainty elegance/tidiness in the marketing area. Can't quite believe that it's not been longer actually. Seems like Gadget's always been around somehow....

Their marketing / product planning is exceptionally neat and tidy isn't it. I love the way that they keep all the old announcements / releases on the same long scrolling page on their website so you can scroll down and see the history of the product all the way to it's inception.

I also like the fact that they stated at the start that they aimed to become the number one mobile music production software platform - and they have totally succeeded in that mission IMO.

They also promised audio tracks and have now been true to that promise. And they promised when they launched to update Gadget regularly and grow it - which again they have most certainly done.

So pretty damn faultless i'd say...

  • From the UI pictures it's seems to be pretty 'limited' but we never know until we can try it out.
I do wish that it was at least a bit like the Electribe 2 with a filter, dedicated ifx and basic modulation per pad...

I also like the 3D models they create of all the Gadgets. They work well emotionally IMO...

And you've gotta admit that the software/UI design is a bit of a design classic (again IMO)

    Wait, which new sampler?

    this one

I wish I we could read those buttons better... anyone make them out?

    Patch name - Master effect
Wave form (with two button-like things at the end)
    Start - Length - Decay - ?
    Pitch - ? - ? - ?
    One shot - reverse - ? - ?

Looks pretty Bilbao like to me...

yeah its pretty much just a bigger bilbao to match with pad controllers like maschine and mpc/mpd

If there's a one shot button it suggests that it is capable of playing loops......

There's a one shot button in London. Doesn't it just mean that it toggles between playing it 'gate' (only sounding while the note is down) and 'one shot' (playing out the whole sample irrespective).

ahh yes it may do......but they definitely say loaded with kits and beats in the description, so perhaps the beats are audio loops ?

"meticulously crafted vintage rhythm machine, which features acoustic drums, sound effects, and different beats -

  • Also the pads look to have some sort of indicator along the top of them.....loop progress perhaps ?

  • Nice to have another drum Gadget if it's free, not something I'd pay for though

Haha. I laugh because I had the same passing thought. And then I realized, who am I kidding!?
Like I don't already have every drum app ever made!

i won't say no to any new gadget, just when i heard new sampler i was hoping it would expand on functionality over the ones we already have, but this seems more of the same

Yep... maybe you're right about it being loops. But then the question would immediately be - how do they time stretch these to fit with different project tempos? I somehow doubt they have implemented time stretching.

But maybe i'm wrong... it would make sense if you've recorded audio into audio tracks and want to change the project tempo I guess.

There is a good chance that they implemented time stretching, because otherwise "why would they waited 3 years for audio?" also those 3 gadget arrive together ^^ ... all speculations of course

  • It would be pretty dumb if there was no time stretching.

it definitely makes sense if this Gadget features audio loops, otherwise this would just duplicate functionality that is already in Bilbao, London and Gladstone

  • With audio tracks and Link support I guess timestretching has to be there.

This is one-step away from artisanal premium cheese speak :)

I had the thought that they might be making one machine to replace Bilbao and London, and deprecating the old versions.

LMAO - I particularly like the Retro Futuristic phrase they also used :)

    haha.
I particularly charmed that they ran out of adjectives when it came time to describe the beats. Uh, "different"? Yeah, that works.

Yes good point, perhaps this has been why the delay.

hehe - Perhaps they composed them with me on a drunken Friday night, listen the next day...Hmmm yeah, that's different...

Ha ha. Yes, a lot of their gadget descriptions are quite nonsensical. I put it down to language difference. And it maybe adds to the charm?

Either that or they used the song name generator :D

Me too. Weird, because I can't play/program drum patterns to save my life, but maybe the next one....

  • Retro futuristic. (Space 1999)

  • And no attack knob on the sampler? Again like bilbao. A shame. Never used london once i got bilbao.

  • There hasn't been a post in this thread for 34 minutes, so I'm adding one.

  • I'll add another. It would be a shame if this thread stayed at the top until Korg releases 3.0. You know what to do guys.
