They are toying with us :D

  • My heart just skipped a beat when I looked on my app updates and seen Gadget there this morning. Unfortunately, it's only minor update.

  • Cruel Japanese humor :D

  • An update preparing for the update.

  • We live in times where annoucements will be announced to start hype and then......months after it we maybe get a real update with 30 seconds introduction videos.
Where is the freaking "OS" version. :D
    Hyper hyper.....

  • gadget cloud update, Korg you son of a bitch

    LOL...

  • And why these 600MB updates for minor things?

  • Will certainly pass on this one - what's the point ?

  • My guess is that the Mac version is not close to being done, which is why there was no demo at Namm. And it would make sense to release both together, or even the Mac first to drive up interest.

Genuinely curious, no disrespect to Korg or anyone else: how long could it really take to get this out, given that Gadget has already been out for years? I mean, they aren't exactly re-inventing the wheel here, unless they are...

I read Korg were aiming for a Mars release, on both the Mac version as well as the update for the iOS version. Info came from the NAMM floor last week (I can't remember where I saw it, so don't kill me if it turns out to be wrong:).

@ChrisG You either read it on the Gadget Facebook Group or maybe on page 21 of this thread, where I posted it. :)

Neither. But I'm sure a bunch of people at NAMM asked Korg about it so...In any case, I might be able to buy a gadget or two with any tax returns later this year, coz lord knows I accidentally prioritized new toys over basic human necessities, like food and other silly things, yet again this winter

  • Maybe they realized at the last minute they forgot to add Kaoss pads. So they're taking the time to correct this egregious error.

Or maybe they forgot to add enough additional keyboards on top of the existing onscreen one.

Nobody knows, if they did some ridiculously silly things in the code (they didn't, most of it is JUCE) it could take forever to rewrite the entire application.

Again, forgive my ignorance here, but:

Wouldn't they maybe have clicked "save" on the old version, so if they made a bad mistake, they could pick up where they left off without having to start from scratch?

I just don't get why this is taking so long.

  • You guys are fixated on the wrong things. Nothing promoted at NAAM seems to have been released. January is not generally an auspicious month for product rollouts; it's the time for sales and recuperating from the previous fiscal year. Nothing's wrong. It'll come. Go buy Caustic; it's less than the Gladstone gadget, for God's sake!

  • Teenage Engineering at NAAM: "Here's our new product, the OP-Z. We don't yet have an exact release date and price point, but we are aiming for a late summer release, and we think this will be cheaper than the OP-1."

Korg at NAAM: "Here's our new product, Gadget for OS X. It will be ready SOON. We don't have a price point, but we will SOON."

Guess which company gets the warm fuzzies from me right about now...

Already have Caustic, and you better believe I'm gonna dig into it as soon as tonite, hoping that I find it so awesome that I never feel even the slightest urge to buy a Korg product ever again, not that I've become irrationally bitter or anything...

    Hahah.
Like you're not going to hit BUY the very second Korg deigns to put it in the app store. But I'm all about Caustic today. Huge appreciation for a dev who can clearly explain what his apps do. Those videos are bloody remarkable.

  • i don't understand? it seems clear that the new stuff on the ios Gadget won't cost anything to current Gadgeteers... all we have to do is sit it out..... in Caustic3point2land :) ( also a free upgrade.. hmmm I'm beginning to see mirrors everywhere! :-/ )

Trust me, I've never been more motivated to become a Causticateer

  • 'Causticateer' i better swallow this mouthful of peanut butter and rinse before attempting to pronounce that...

  • While we wait for 3.0, Gentlemen Rocker is doing a series on all the current Gadgets

Well, I don't know... As far as I understand, there will be no downloadable content in the mac version. Also, it's a quite strange requirement for the VST plugin collection, don't you think?

  • Maybe to activate the licence?
And of course to download Gadget content at first.
Oh...are we there yet? No? :s
