I found the beatmaker 2 workflow tiresome (and not fun at all). But you guys were first on the scene with groundbreaking beatmaking on iOS so this will be a day one purchase for me whether I end up using it or not.

That's something we wanted to improve in BM3, and I think the UI/UX is way cleaner now.

Picture or it didn't happen :P

  • @mathieugarcia What happened to 'next week' it's already Thursday?

Sorry, but as you know we're all hungry for more info :)

I hope BM3 has improved over BM2 with regards to being able to 'play' notes with different velocity using the on-screen keyboard & pads.

Will we get 'curves' to do automation for all midi CC's and maybe even automate AUv3 parameters?

And what about being able to easily create sampler instruments from parts of recorded audio? (In Garageband it's easy to just drag an audio-event to a sampler-track to create a sampler instrument).

I suppose Track-Freezing containing AUv3 or IAA-Instruments/Generators has been given proper care so we'll not have issues with the frozen audio being 'off the grid'?

And well, I hope there is enough options for the Grid-Lines to cover all quantise options?(1/8t and 1/16t as examples).

I do hope the sample selection tools have also gotten proper care as I'm still annoyed when making selections in the BM2 sample-editor, it's way too easy to loose the selection when scrolling around the sample.(there are no 'selection handles', so the slightest touch outside waveform clears the selection).

I hope the coming announcement clears some of these issues for all of us waiting for the release :)

  • OT- I drank an 18 pack of beer yesterday... and these drunken rants are why I can't have a Facebook. Smh

  • @mathieugarcia is your video editing guy lost between flights returning from Thailand or Bali ? :)
You can release the news without bells & whistles. We surely won't mind man!!!

PS: Does it have more cowbell ? :D

:D And then people talk about "respect"... Does respecting a planning count ? :D

  • I didn't meant that in a disrespectful way :)
I'm just anxious, and honestly I don't care about bells & whistles videos. A live hangout will do :)

    Hey Samu !

Please bear with us, we're just missing a few assets before we can release it :-) Anyway, I'm here in the meantime.

Right on, BM3 has some expression controllers alongside where the pads and keyboard are located.
AUv3 parameters automation is something we'll bring for sure. In general, I think AUv3 apps improve the workflow a lot; more and more of them are adding AUv3 support so this going in the right direction.
Instrument design/creation is on point but there are multiple shortcuts to make things even easier, that's for sure !
Resampling is built right in, being external audio apps or internal BM3 tracks.
The sample editor has been revamped as well and we took care of those annoying behaviours !

    Cheers !
    Mathieu.

    That's good to hear.

I'm really a big fan of using the touch-screen for input and have grown 'attached' to using techniques such as 'vertical-velocity' (ie. y-axis on the touch-key determines velocity) same for 'pads' when centre of pad is maximum velocity and edge is low velocity with interpolation between edge and centre (or top and bottom).

This are just minor niggles but in my opinion Steinberg has nailed the touch keyboard and pads with Cubasis.

  • I can hardly wait to sample some cowbell :P

I know man... I myself was only kidding... I'm a BM2 lover (it's the music app I use the most after Korg Gadget... and it was the only app I was using before Korg Gadget). But I have to admit that the way Intua manage the BM3 announcement, beta and release seem a bit overweening (with their annoucements of annoucements, VIB = Very Important Beta lol...) and (therefore) a bit ridiculous... Which does not mean that they are not among the greatest music app developers in the world ;)

Very nice news Mathieu... I can't wait... My only fear is that the tool sounds like having even more functionnalities than before and may be even more complicated than before...
But I can't wait to buy the app day one (even if it not the app I want, I'll buy it just to support the devs that allowed me to make good music on BM2 for many years before Gadget was released).
    Peace.

    I can related LOL.

  • what is the point of this thread?

  • I think it's not about Trump, brexit or chauvinism (yet). But maybe we can somehow get it there. Or on the other hand, maybe not. Back to MeatBaker 3.
