@Matt_Fletcher_2000 so now the question is, do I want BleepBox? It looks deceptively simple. Fun and easy to jam out with? Good sounds?

It's great. It's a bit like iELECTRIBE I guess. Although you can play chromatic notes too.

Sadly it doesn't have note midi out.

  • Another jam, breakbeat with synths.

  • That was really cool man!!!

  • "Most of the best sequencing (IMO) is all about morphing and mashing the actual sequence(s) on the fly and really playing the sequence like an instrument."

@Matt_Fletcher_2000 Yeah I hear you for sure. All I can say is watch this space ^_^ we've got some really nice stuff here in prototype. Does anyone know of any other interesting live note transformation examples ?

might challenge you for space on the surface

Not promising this feature but you could have dial type controls that let you control the loopLength and loopStart ?

  • @w3epy live note transformation? IKaossilator: remember these words "new notes replace old"

  • Loop length and start will surely be interesting to make some cool polyrhythm.

    Brilliant. All I'd say is:

Think about how you can reset the loop back to be the way it was.

Genome/Bleep!box does this brilliantly as soon as you take your fingers away. Things are all right back in sync.

With other methods this is much harder. Once you glitch the loop start/end etc it's almost impossible to get it unglitched again.

Have a look at the flutter pad on iELECTRIBE though. That does a good job. And again when you remove your finger everything is returned to 'normal'.

  • Cheers Matt!

@w3epy. Any chances of being on the beta or so? I'm certainly up for trying some of thoses experimental features. I got KRFT on both an iphone 5s and the ipad air 1.

  • I must add, though... this is a revolutionary app.

It's actually much better, even, than I first thought because initially I was just thinking about it for fun live performance / jamming type uses- with lots of live automation.

But actually, it's also a brilliant tool for song writing.

You can use it to very, very quick put together ideas for chord progressions, drum parts, lead parts, bass etc .... and mix and match until you have the ingredients of the different sections of your track (groups are helpful here).

Playing live (with its keyboard / pads) into it is extremely well done because of the quantise feature. It basically makes your timing 'perfect' (although you can switch it off if you like) which I find much more rewarding for trying out melodies / Basslines on the fly. And the piano roll is very, very easy to use too.

If it got live midi out you could then record the different parts into Gadget/Cubasis or whatever you use and then continue your track from there (switching in different synths and adding more production polish).

  • You nailed it man!!!

A great App Store review would rock with your views!

  • I did quite enjoy building a monster template and then going about filling it up with loops without a care in the world. The fills are so great. So many times a create a few melodies in another program only to realize they would sound better inter mingled with one another. A task which is quite tedious elsewhere, typically involving fiddly copy and paste actions.

i really like the app - but after playing around with it for a week now, I'm finding it hard to find synth sounds I like or want to use (especially bass sounds! - way too many distorted/bit-crushed and wobbley/dubstep basses).
I know you can create morphs or dials to modify the synth sounds - but still ...
I really WANT to use KRFT and make some songs, but the lack of being able to find a suitable bass sound (for my taste at least) has me using this less until it gets sample import and/or midi out.

  • Yeah midi out will be soooo awesome!! Driving Arp Oddisey, iWavestation, Mitosynth, and many others will really rock!

    perfect post

  • @Musikman4Christ driving Gadget with multiple tracks of Miltipas. Oh the ear candy

We're just about to start testing sample import. DM me your email.

  • Latest beta update has sample import and audio loops, have not had time to test yet.....:-)

  • edited February 2017

UPDATE- looks like you can import from AudioShare :-)

Oops my bad.. I'm more partial to heavy, distorted sounds so that influenced the presets when I made them. You know you can edit the sounds though without creating a morph/dial. Tap the wave icon when editing a cell or on the mixer page.

Out of interest what's your fav ios synth/bass instrument?

  • I'm very excited for the developer by seeing the reception of this great app and seeing just how useful and exciting it is for many on here

However..I am finding the dials a bit fiddly..surely mini faders would facilitate more control if it is an option Alex??

Because there are so many electronic synths whenever many of us come across a few acoustic/real sounds like in Gadget Madrid etc they seem to get a lot of play (sic)....but sample import will help :) Keep up the good work, the hopes of a (musical) nation are upon you :)

  • Sample import working really well here. Imports easily from AudioShare!
Loaded up some SessionBand guitar and ukulele loops; time stretched them and the options are great! This app is happening guys!

yes, I have been playing with the wave icon and editing presets - but still find I can't quite get to my sweet spot often... I guess I'm more partial to classic analogue synth bass sounds - I often reach to Thor for basses, sometimes Terra Synth - and when using Gadget the Phoenix synth works quite well for my needs.
Glad to see sample import is coming along! I really think this app will grow into something amazing over the next several months/years.

  • Some tabbed interface for different layouts like w3epy mentioned could be interesting. (I though about it too thinking of lemur ios). There could be an option so that when you start to play on other layouts, it would slowly crossfade to the new one. Or just simply being able to play everything at once if anybody wants too.

I would love to be able to play elements from 2 surfaces at the same time (via tabs or something). It would mean you could build a set of say 6 surfaces at the same BPM (and key) and then transition from one to the other (i don't mean cross-fade volume - I mean trigger and un-trigger parts from the new/old surface until, you're fully into the new surface and out of the old one).

That would be amazing for my 1 hour live sets (audience of 1 - myself),

Do you usually get a standing ovation?

  • Yes that would be the idea behind it.

I'm with you on this. I love this app, and getting some great leads, but I'm struggling with the basses a bit - I like a big, simple, clean thud of a bass but not quite hitting the spot.
