@ruggedsmooth you are not alone... If there's an easy way I haven't found it. BH also doesn't allow the saving of AUx state in the keyboard mode, which means an extra step when firing up a preset with a BH instrument. All this leads me to believe that UVI has slightly missed on the value proposition that an AU rompler with excellent sample libraries represents. They can monetize on their first mover advantage over, say, sampletank if they address these relatively simple experience issues. I'd continue to load up on libraries if they make it easy for me to use them.

  • Agree!
    Please let them know :)

Bm3 seems to be saving bh in state it was saved. Had no problem with having to reopen the keyboard from pads

Funny you should mention this... After writing that post I did a little test with BM3 and sure enough. BM3 does save the state in keyboard mode. Winner!

  • As my new 2017 iPad Pro 12.9" been "disabled" of the new beta 5 of iOS 11 (Beatmaker 3 and Auria Pro don't work anymore) I have temporarily moved my time to my old iPad Pro 12.9"...

But, I have some projects into Beathawk 2 that I wanted to move over to my old iPad Pro, but, that seems not be possible...

@samu - the man with many answers, do you know a way to copy over a whole project between to identically iPads?

The export features seems not be the way to go...? Can't come up with a method...

The iTunes Files Sharing in my Mac don't see any projects either...

This doubletap thing on files in Beathawk 2 is also gigant stupid programming... Grrrr!

You can export the session but you'll have to manually transfer all the samples...
...and keep the same folder-structure so the session will find the samples.

I've since long deleted BeatHawk 2 from my iPad as I don't see any use for it when it comes to sampling...
The factory content was nice but since there is no way to properly transfer the samples to another app due to UVI's paranoid approach to factory samples (encryption and non-standard wave-formats) I just deleted it...

  • @ecstaticax
If you,are still wondering if you can import MIDI files into BeatHawk, you might try to use the iTunes file sharing option (yes it's very lame). Put your file in BHwk iTunes folder and open in the app.

    Thanks for quick answer!

I think it awesome to use the samples and instruments from Beathawk 2 into Beatmaker 3 as an AU...
If you got the space it seems waste of money to delete such a good sound library ;-)

It's not such a big loss to be honest and I can always re-install it if/when needed which is highly unlikely ;)

The way BH2's AUv3 is implemented is less than optimal. The best way to utilise the 'sounds' as 'instruments' in other apps would have been to expose one pad as an AUv3-Instance with full instrument editing capabilities.

On an iPad Air 2 to me the cramped 'iPhone AUv3 UI' is pretty much un-useable.

BH2 has some nice sounds but as a 'sampling workstation' it doesn't serve it's purpose.
It is a 'rompler' with severely limited sound-editing editing capabilities.

But I'm happy for those users who find good use for it :)
