Cyclop for me, is one of those iVCS3 type apps that I open up and get lost in (in a good way), for an hour, exploring the realms of synthesized space travel. Almost never record with it, like the aforementioned iVCS3, but still enjoy every minute.
I'm guessing Cyclop could make a similar noise, but Unique has less distractions and so 'gets the job done' quicker. Still not sold on the sounds I've heard so far though in relation to what I do, which is the important bit for me. Need to see/hear more.
Absolutely. No hurry. In fact (which is super unfair as I've only played with it for 20 minutes) I would have to say, as your un-nominated agent, that a fixed CS Spectral would get more of a work out at the MonzoLabs. Things to look forward to...BUT, and for the record no one's keeping, someone is going to arp this thing (Unique) and shake the house.
It's amazing value for 5 quid. That's the price for a preset pack from Korg and here you get 300 presets, a whole synth, midi learn, Link, a motion recordable xy pad, modulation sequencer etc![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
I much prefer the sounds you get from this than Cyclop and that's monophonic.
Most immediate difference is that Cyclop is monophonic.
@JohnnyGoodyear One additional difference (which I assume will be temporary): the iPhone version does save user presets...
Yes, no good deed (spending the 15 not the 5) goes unpunished etc![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
if you press and hold on a parameter, a thing pops up to assign it to any of the modulation things. one of which is the recordable xy pad and yes you can assign multiple things to each axis. thats just a beautiful way to get gnarly stuff simply
I wrote Sugarbytes about the iPad glitch with you in mind (didn't mention you by name...but I will if push comes to shove)
So far I can't see a way to midi learn the controls and keep them globally. When you change preset you have to relearn everything again.
Yes the manual states MIDI learn is not saved although I've been state saving with AB3 which seems to work.
Is csSpectral worth it without an update as is?
I would say only for piping audio in through an audio interface. If that is all you want out of it then it works well enough for me.
@skiphunt ...i think so, I've always been able to get it to work IAA and Audiobus.
I smashed buy on this (Unique) without reading anything since I'd just got credited a $20 refund...kinda wishing I hadn't. The velocity/sustain levels on mono patches is especially frustrating. Some more time is in store, but I'm not particularly excited about the next time I open it.
If I run csspectral first I can get it running in AB And AUM but not Cubasis. On my ipad 2017 right now I am finding it works well enough to be useful but on my air1 or mini2 it crashed a lot and lost connectivity. csGrain freezes up a lot on me even on the new ipad.
Encountering insane lag on my iPad Pro 9.7. Graphics and keys in the app are very sluggish and unresponsive. Seems like more iPad Pro and iPhone 7 users have the same issue. Definitely needs a fix!
Had some key sluggishness too (Pro/latest). Needs a bit of a polish.
works fast on my ipone 5s..and ipad mini 2
Unclear whether the iPhone on iPad dodge is worth the risk. Like the mods if not the presets. Lag issues seem to be with most recent iOS devices? iPad Air 2 here...
As I can't save anything on the iPad (undodged) I'm a bit grumbly, especially as it seems (of course) that while there are some fun presets it's when you start to fiddle that things come alive. BUT, a fix, surely. This and the sticky keys are too obvious not to (but then you'd have thought they were too obvious to pass QA....)
FOR ALL OF THAT, I can't summon the black dogs about this for long, just so happy about Link in Egoist. It's tamed the untameable without anyone else having to know about it....huge update from this end of the pier.
Preset issue on Air 2: yes, latency issue: no. Neither issue on iPhone (6).
Neither issue on iPhone version installed on iPad Air 2.
I bought the iPhone version and opened it on my air 2 and it's great. Looks perfect and is really easy to assigned modulation everywhere! It sounds great and I'm already coming up with super interesting stuff. This is buy far the best $5 I've spent on an app for a very long time. This is coming from a true appaholic. This is way easy to use and that for me makes it fun and useful!!!
Aha, thanks....that's the killer difference then!
Weirdly, it seems the iPhone version at two thirds of the price is universal, and the best working version for my Air2. I was feeling a bit guilty about thinking of getting that one, but now it seems to be the sensible choice.
Might be a Friday night fiver punt.
For the record etc:
Hi Johnny,
yes, we are aware of the problem.
We will of course come up with a fix within our next update and let you know as soon as it is ready for download.
Best,
Nadine
is there a trick to downloading the iPhone version on your iPad? It doesn't show up in the purchased section on my iPad.
Edit: nvm, I just found a direct link to the iPhone app and it worked.
Interestingly, I bought the iPad version, but can't figure out how to open it on my phone. Double punishment for taking the Honest-Abe route![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
Maybe I'll start with the $5 iPhone version and check it out. I'm an iPad Pro owner, so I can let that get sorted out before purchasing a larger version that may not work well. Looks pretty cool though, and apart from some laziness in the U.I. department (though not necessarily with Unique), SugarBytes stuff is usually pretty high-quality, provided you have the right hardware to run it.
...such as a stylus (at least on my tiny iphone 5). Really need to get glasses this year.
This is one of their best iOS ui's I think. Very easy to navigate
pleasantly surprised by this one. After seeing negative comments, I was on the fence on this one. But I have always been impressed by sugar bytes instruments. So i bought it, and wow...Am i glad I did. It has a great dirty synth sound, and formant filters are pretty nice. also sequencer, lfo, envelope, and recordable automation of track pad. All in a quick easy to navigate menu ! all great. loving this dirty little synth![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
Can you set the sequencer running and solo freely over it (in poly mode obviously)?
