  • I was just thinking yesterday how awesome it would be to use Groovebox as a way to populate Launchpad for a live set. GUessing the workaround now would be to export to something like Audioshare?

Yes AS of course as a long-winded workround, but after the Blocs 'integration' I would hope it might be part of their grand masterplan to get all three at least loosely on the same team. Launchpad has always been a bit of a redheaded stepchild for me until I started using the kid's Launchpad Mini which I thought was nothing much, but it turns out works brilliantly etc. Might become a half-arsed live jammer yet....

I hope the song/scene mode is more than the 6 section thing in blocs. I'd like unlimited scenes. If I'm being honest.

If we get Export to Launchpad at some point then I think there would be 6 scenes as this is whats available in Launchpad, this is where the 6 scenes in blocs wave came from.

Boooooooooo. Unlimited scenes. I'm not paying for the full synth unlock without it. Gave em 2 out of 3 because they are generally great

  • I haven't gone in on the IAPs yet, holding out for preset saving and song mode, etc. And I actually can't see how the app is really usable without those. How do you all fit Groovebox into your workflow at the moment?

It's just my thought, not definitive, they may do more :) I guess we will have to wait and see...

I am building loops with it, running linked with wave, then exporting the loops to wave, and then onto Launchpad. It means I've got the original MIDI source of my Launchpad loops for when I want to go back and make changes.
I have also had a lot of use running it alongside my circuit and wave too.

Just export the loop(s). Actually doing a lot of this into Loopy currently...fun. But only feels like fun (nothing wrong with that), compared to having song mode. And, yes, preset saving.

But the exported loops are all clicky, and I really don't have the patience to export 2x loops and then half them again(even though that does work)

Are they still clicky as I exported a couple of projects as separate stems opened in Auria no issues?

  • Update just dropped :)

    Yup.

  • I wonder how sales of preset packs would be affected by preset-saving? Maybe no-user-presets is the business model?

I have no doubt. But I think we've been down this road before. However, I'm going to defer to the @brambos comment elsewhere, and that without the hard numbers I'm just chattering in favor of my own self-interest. As ever.

  • As for the preset saving: just save blank template projects with created sounds, duplicate, etc. No reason to feel like we can't already create our own custom sound palette. Which is exactly why there might as well be functioning preset saving in the first place because those who want it are going to do it anyway, it just makes for a bit nicer of an experience. They could probably get away with adding only a song/scene mode and nothing else and that would be a pretty damn good situation.

So it did. And my 1st export was click free YAY.

  • Piano-roll Text (note) seems fixed also... <3

Really? If that's the case, I'll drop for the IAPs. So if I tweak the synth and save it in a track called, say, WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH OUR PRESIDENT, I have effective made a preset?

Yes but it won't be available for new projects unless you are starting with a user template.

Bing. Workarounds are great but mostly they lead to little or no work (for me). Would like user presets please...

  • Yep, I feel like a bit of a sucker for purchasing the IAPs without being able to save presets. I just assumed that this would happen in short order, but see that it is not a part of today's update. Still think it will happen but this conversation makes me a bit nervous as I always prefer to roll my own. I really haven't used it yet to make anything and won't until they fix this problem.

  • A monophonic option for the bass synth would be most welcome.

I'm a total preset guy, but you want to preserve even the single knob tweak as a subtle and crucial artistic decision....

I was/still am a preset boy, but this forum has educated me sufficiently (or just encouraged me maybe) that I seem to end up fiddling with most things, if even just a little. I think the thingie here is that one happily (in my case) purchases the IAPs which are tools to further develop/change/tweak the sounds and having done so it would be nice to not be the broken record I am being etc :)

    Still optimistic.

  • When I spin the dice then look at the note grid- some of the notes are just short of filling the box when in normal mode. (They are longer than the narrow boxes size). When I drag a note out- it skips to whole box lengths. How do you draw in the note in order that it is just under or over the box dividing lines- just like the dice manages to do?

  • Love this.

Me too, but at least some sort of song mode, even something as 'simple' as the elegant little pattern device in StepPolyArp, just something to chain things, would make it more than (at the day's end) a basic bar(s) maker...

  • Devs already said it's coming in an update. I want it too, but I can wait while they perfect it.

Interesting new bass pack released for Poly8 today too. While I don't like half of the presets personally, the 50% I do like I like a lot. Not bad for $1.

I wish there was a way to put all the the sounds from the IAPs in the same list though. I hate having to exit out of the preset chooser to switch packs for more options. By all means keep that in there, but give use the option of scrolling through all the presets for a device in one menu too please.
