Well I haven't used it to trigger external gear. I'm a fan of all in one box, and for me this does absolutely everything I need it to do.

I just wish Linked Slices will come soon :)

Slice to pads and link the pads ;)

What does link to pads do?

Quite apart from sampling things yourself I am sure everybody has a ton of samples already, and if not, there are tons of free ones out there on t'interweb.

I have dumped in some selections from various Geist 2 expanders I have on the desktop and am having a blast with them.

Have you done this via audio share / dropbox?

You can put pads in the same link group and thus trigger them together.
This is a quite nice way to layer AUv3's and other sounds.

So, I went and got the piano IAP, on the strength of the free Summer Keys samples. It sounds awful. Everything is out of tune - the keys, the scales, the chords. Sounds like they sampled a piano prepared by John Cage.

I could probably use it if I were making an experimental track exploring dissonance, but other than that, it is money wasted.

I can't believe they charged a premium price for this. Has anyone else got these problems, or am I missing something here?

Honestly at this point I'd suggest you just sample your own instruments. I'm currently making multisampled instruments from both iOS apps/au and also some of the sample libraries I have and having a blast!

Sure you can make your own instruments but they don't keep tempo as you pitch high up and down so not completely a fully fledged synth

You can turn on live timestretch so they do keep tempo.

But you can also place different octave samples (or even samples for each individual note if you want to go nuts) as layers and assign each one to a key range. So you can make it as accurate as you like, really. In practice, layering 1 octave at a time with timestretching should work well. I haven't tried out the key range assignments screen yet, so I hope that part of it is intuitive.

    Many thanks !

Ah right yes. Sheez this really is a iPad version of maschine studio.

Love this. I'm getting some really cool combinations together.

Can anyone comment on sound packs they've bought . Why a certain pack and your thoughts , thanks

Woefully poor would be my description. Large is space requirement and extremely small in content.(which should piss me off ),however , the sampler and sample import work so well that I can easily obtain all the samples I need for free!

Ok fair enough. I haven't bought anything yet but I have a good chunk of excellent samples :) thanks

Guys, I don't wanna piss of anybody, but this app has all the workflow of Maschine (the desktop version) and some. And it costs 20 bucks and you guys are complaining about the quality of the sampled piano.

It's a state of the art sampler, you can do whatever the hell you want with it.
I know they've teased us for a lot of time, but believe me, you don't make an app like this over night. This is not your average "post my selfie on social media" app. So I can imagine why it took them that long.

So maybe it's time to show a little gratitude and enjoy it as it's the most versatile and powerful app out there. And believe me I've bought almost all of them.

Ahhh.. so I am not alone in seeing this as iMaschine 3? And loving the direction Maschine is going with this 2.6.6 update...Will be nice to have, 'Export to Maschine'..

After playing with bm3 for a while I am almost considering moving my favourite samples and projects on maschine studio desktop to bm3 and then selling maschine studio... I have a feeling it may not be getting much use from here on in ...

    That good?

I'm thinking of getting it for a similar reason, bringing in audio from Komplete, as well as arranging/sampling iOS stuff for desktop use.

Yeah I think so. Still early days. Need to adjust to a slightly different workflow etc but the convenience of having a portable maschine studio / full daw all in one is a massive advancement. Will see how I go

  • For my usage it's the perfect audio software.it only lack the facilities to duplicate tracks and direct pattern recording in the scene matrix.and it have more posssilities than I ever dream.
Big thanks to you at Intua

  • Is there a way to record a pattern in scene mode so that it automatically sets the pattern length, rather than you having to set the length beforehand?

excellent idea.. to be honest the digitakt has made music making a fun exploration lately, i have been waiting for BM3 eagerly for at least a year now but tonight I was back on my digitakt jamming away. interesting stuff just pours out of that little box, i really love it.

Maschine is cutdown in terms of features because it is designed to work with hardware, and it has the most complaints by its own customers of any software that ever existed, so neither is the workflow similar (one is touchscreen, the other hardware) or even the feature set really, if anything BM3 is a little more advanced, yes they have copied a bunch of features from Maschine (funnily enough the ones nobody wants/uses) but the sampler for example is way more advanced in BM3 (ok doesnt sound as good right now, listed in bug thread)

What is happening is the very nature of hyped consumerism, go back and read what i said when the hype generating nonsense was going on, the way this was released was always a huge huge mistake, if you hype people up like Intua did, you better have a perfect app out the gate, they didn't and it is biting them in the ass because they got people too excited.
Some are being over the top yes, but so was the hype before release.

This is now a public beta, report the bugs concisely in the bug thread, let Intua do their job (i would suggest quickly as possible) as for the features that are just ridiculous (scenes/8 track limit/no direct MIDI tracks/totally **** performance mode) add to the discussion.

Have you ever used Maschine? Just asking :)
I'm talking about the sampler features and how each pad is its own sound.

I think some people are confusing iMaschine with the vastly superior desktop version;)

still on the menu, I'm waiting on the full breakdown of the rytm mk2 though. if it has the capabilities of the digi, the current rytm, and they make it more accessible then I might go that way. Also of note is that I'm still hearing rumblings of some elektron loop boxes that haven't been mentioned yet and want to see if that pans out.

I've heard a lot of great things about digitakt. May I ask what does it do that trumps apps like dm2 or patterning ?

  • For those find pops and click a work around I have often to work well is put all the samples from the chop into the same choke group slightly adjusting the BPM will help also

  • anybody know how to expand they keyboard in beatmaker 3. and how to open it in each screen?

  • Is there a way to save slices to files as the was in BM2...? This was a major feature for me as this allowed me to then send the slices to Bilbao in Gadget. It's probably there as I don't think Intua would forget such major feature from previous version in the new version, but I can't manage to find it...

  • I bought BM3 yesterday and I'm having a blast.

One question though, I wonder if anyone can help me: If I record a pattern with chord mode enabled, the chord is not shown into the piano roll view (even though it plays).

Is there a way to see what notes the chord consists of? Now I only see the root note of the chord in the piano roll view after recording a sequence.

Bottom left corner of the Sampler plug in window, there is a start button.

Hey does that mean you're going to continue using Bilbao even though bm3 is much more feature rich? May I ask what your preferred workflow is as I have also been using gadget and am still figuring out the best workflow scenario between them both and cubasis or auria

  • Posting here as well as their forum...
With respect to Midi Control Mapping AUs:
Does BM3 facilitate midi mapping for AU instruments (prob not yet)? In the Settings > Midi > Focus Action Editor settings, there seems to be none.

I reference AUM where the software detects the AU instrument and its parameters, and allows you to map your controller’s knob/fader/button directly to the AU’s parameter.

My current workaround is mapping my AU parameter to a macro, and then the macro to my Midi Controller via the Focus Action Editor.

Dotted button beside the sample name. You can specify where to save it. Alternatively you can save the whole bank and copy the samples to a new folder.

Please stop complaining about betas. They haven't released the latest build, they released the latest stable build. Many updates to come. :)
