  • @AndyPlankton , yes it's down to £4.99. I might have to jump on it at this price. I've definately been on the fence at £10 and definately at £15, but for £5 I'll take a chance

  • Totally unfair and unprofessional. People know what I am talking about. Life too short for ranting , will refund and happily move on B)

For others who don't own it yet buy it NOW :)

Ah come on, the dev was only on here last week saying "just a friendly heads up that our discount ends in 3 days. Currently at £10/$10 which is a third off the usual price £15/$15." which, to me, insinuates that it'll rise at the end of that, not fall half again. Having jumped in at that point, I don't think that's a really fair way to operate.

  • Oh dear, is KRFT going to be the new Skram? I do hope not, as it's such a good app.

  • my guess is that the 30% off didn't lure enough people into a 'different kind of workflow' or 'the groove box reinvented'.
In my case the 5 bucks didn't work either, as their intro video triggered nausea after a couple of minutes. Tap-swoosh, tap-swoosh screen switching galore.
I get the intention behind KRFT, but implementation is a fail at current state (and I'm sorry to write this)

It really isn't, I completely disagree with you. Even in its current form, it's one of the best and most inspiring music apps ever released on iOS.

As for the big sale, I would appreciate some information from the dev on why they changed their mind (assuming this wasn't just a pricing mistake).

  • I'm just getting into it myself. After avoiding it for awhile, I'm finding that it's pretty easy to use. I think that its UI is at first a bit alienating in its toy-like appearance. Maybe because we don't have to squint, it doesn't seem like a serious app.

  • When did the price rise that high? Incredible.
Didn't I pay just 3 or 4 bucks when it was introduced?

  • Sadly...I can smell dead fish

  • Thing is this is a bit of a kick in the teeth for people that just grabbed it for 10$. Although @Munibeast is probably going to be happy.

  • Back to a correct price for what it is (as I already said to the devs a few weeks ago)... I may grab it tonight

it's definitely not my cup of tea regarding workflow (as I'd skip internal sounds/fx and assume controlling external stuff is more demanding)
but I withdraw my verdict after watching the Lyn Levitt video
if an app enables someone in her position to get on with music, then it's a good thing B)

  • The user and all related content has been deleted.
  • Hey guys,

Sorry, but we didn't plan to do this. We believe that KRFT is well worth £15 but it's hard to sell apps at a high price unless you have a known brand name.

Currently we are experimenting with some pricing to find the right balance for us and our users.

Again, sorry if anyone felt mislead by the sale last week.

    Alex

    Dunno about the pricing changes....

....but I love the app - for external kit, controling AUs in a host and I like the internal sounds. The devs are responsive.

Curious about your KRFT/ Volca video :)

Totally understandable. I think 4.99 is totally the sweet spot for an app like this.

Interesting also that Secret Base Design recently made a lot of their app quite a bit cheaper. Looks like the market for hosting apps is doing less. Maybe also a result of recent price increases for UK en EU people that now suddenly pay a lot more especially when for the more expensives apps.

  • I believe that it's worth £15+

Impossible to argue with a price like this, considering it's great reputation. I'm on board.

By the way, I feel the key to selling at a mid price point (not Auria level, I'm thinking Modstep pricing) is for that price to remain pretty constant without sales. If it drops regularly people will wait for the sales, if not then people who really want it will grab it (it's still not a major investment) and it'll slowly build a user base. Modstep has gone on sale VERY infrequently (and not discounted that much) and plenty of people (here at least) have picked it up regardless.

  • Feel sorry for them. Definite PR blunder (as regards our small circle), but no doubt they're trying/hoping to see the bigger picture. Lesson to be learned here (or grist to some Harvard Business School thesis), but -in the end- it makes no difference as regards the app and its unique functionality set. Shame if that gets obscured by the dust for a little while.

These are the Wild West years.

Hi Alex, you of all devs need no apology at all, ever!

You guys have been truly responsive and helpful with this amazing app!

I had pledged not to continue to be here after the previous fiasco thread where you got bashed by all who first praised you then turned around and cried to crucify you. It was unbearable to read but you kept your cool and professional attitude.

Well, I had to step in and speak. Alex, you were also kind not to charge for the Midi out which we all had expected and were willing to pay for, that my friend spoke loudly and clear of your heart.

In my opinion, KRFT deserves to be on every iPhone and iPad around the world. We need a new generation of musicians. This app needs to get in the hands of kids which will drive the future of music. So like Groovebox, you might consider making it free, and charge for all the options as IAPs. This way, the app will be in the hands of so many and perhaps give you an opportunity to have more well deserved income.

I'm not a marketing genius or even claim to know or advice, but it's something you might consider. Guess what, all those on the fence could never again complain about the price if it's free right?

Consider the price for IAPs, heck you even made sharing surfaces free. I thought that was going to be an IAP also.

I stand with you Alex and Weepy as you guys have a true gem in your hands, don't let a buck of wolves tear your heart up. There are many here that support and stand with you.

    My peace.

.@Alex fox if you add that cc per step ability soon all is forgiven. I'll just consider that I donated you guys an extra 5$ :)

  • The price worked for me, I've been holding off because of no MIDI In, but at a fiver I can let that slide.....

Exactly, @ £15 it was too expensive without it,
but at £5 I am not so precious about it .. :)

  • Sorry if we FELT mislead? This is not a feeling. This is being told one thing (dubious statement that app is 'on sale' when the price had never been higher) and then the opposite happens, making the price lower very soon after.

I do FEEL feel that I've been cheated. I don't feel sorry for them at alll. What for? They've made a few extra $$$ and some negative backlash is certainly in order.

  • Well then if your feelings are so hurt get a refund!!!!

Then buy it again at the cheaper price!

Then see who feels cheated for so much provided in an amazing app!

Well it wasn't done maliciously. You can get a refund if you like, then you don't have to feel cheated.

And btw, we probably made less than if we'd kept the price at $10 due to lower downloads at $15.. so we haven't made "a few extra $$$"

    @JohnnyGoodyear
Weren't we discussing the other day that the iOS music app market is in trouble.
This developer (Alex)most likely spends much more time on moving the product forward and dealing with various situation that the music sector demands. Somewhere else, much less sophisticated app with little overhead sells for similar price but the developer is already on the next thing with no service intended or update. Potential net result (not necessarily this app) is that good projects will die. All because the users want everything for nothing (adapted behavior) as you can read in some comments above. The problem is that there is no appreciation for project quality, if you like. Maybe I'm not getting this clearly from me. But anyway, my so-called rant few days ago was exactly about the situation we are facing here. Developers have hard time getting back their investment and we get fewer tools to work with. Protect the investment and in my mind the investment is the developers. Mew, mew, sound cheesy but there is some truth in that.
He, he, I'm almost done with this discussion :# and as a buyer I should be happy, but let's revisit this in the future.
    Peace my man!

  • I'm not sure if English is your first language but you seem to have trouble with the meaning of words.

The previous $9.99 price was not on sale. The price had never been higher. The price was due to be increased. That is not the meaning of sale.

Did you use that misleading statement to promote sales? Yes. Did people like me buy it hoping to save some money? I had KRFT on my app shopper wish list waiting for a sale. If I would have followed App Shopper I'd have bought it now when it's ON SALE instead of the previous FULL PRICE.

So now the price is 4.99. You've made an extra $5 on me and others.

I don't want a refund. I'll use KRFT for awhile and hope it gets some sweet updates. CC per step sounds delightful!

And I'm not malicious either. I won't start a thread saying that I heard KRFT is going to be free for awhile so hold off on this seemingly low price.

So the dev made a PR miscalculation - one that most outside this forum wouldn't even be aware of.

This doesn't detract from his app being one of the most unique and innovative we've seen on here for a long time, and he's one of the most responsive, hard working devs ever.

Would I feel a bit narked if I'd bought it on 'sale' for £10 only for it to drop to £5 the next day? Absolutely, and Alex has taken the criticism on the chin. But would I feel I'd paid too much at £10? Absolutely not, apps with this amount of functionality are sitting in the £15-£20 bracket so I'd still feel I'd got a good deal.

How quickly some forget that free MIDI functionality he gave us a few weeks back.

  • It's good to see the developer being so honest and accommodating. I believe in this product.

Contrast the good attitude here from developer and customers, with tossers I'm currently trying to deal with at Amazon. Company offered an iPad case at a very low price, possibly accidentally. I bought it on the spot, and am a still trying to get delivery. They claim to have sent it out, but have no proof of postage or tracking. They want to issue me a refund but I want the goods as bought. Could take some time. Mind you, this is all part of how poor Amazon are these days. I now buy so much less there, and so much more here, 'cause I get better value and security.
