This BM3 is no bloody use. I spend ages composing and creating tracks on this awesome app and saving them as sessions and when I go back to opening the session there is no audio. I have tried everything to get audio back but nothing. :(

I must say one thing: Beatmaker 3 is AWESOME!

    No

Ok, thanks for a quick answer!

But, are there any good AUv3 Equlizers out there for iPad?
That way I can EQ separate pads/samples...
iSilQ is very good, but it's IAA only...

Has anyone received a code for the contest that INTUA had? I am pretty sure I had 0 people in front of me. Just wondering, wanting to get my hands on the app and don't mind paying for it but just wondering. @mathieugarcia

I had 5 people in front of me. I have not received a code.

Did you ever get a code? I got a couple of duplicate emails saying that the winners have been emailed but I couldnt find my winning email. Oh well. I went ahead and broke down and bought it. I couldnt wait any longer.

I didn't, no. I too received duplicate e-mails saying weird things. I can't deduct if they have already have sent "the top 20 sharers e-mail so I can get my code" (?...I was no6, surely that'd include me...are "they" being asked or informed?), if I should wait ("stay tuned"...this gives me hope), or if I didn't "make the cut"(?...this removes my hope). Also the wording of the e-mail would indicate they have already sent e-mails to the winners (which I have not received, so totally removes hope).

Meanwhile I am reading/watching in envy as everyone else is doing what I hoped I would be doing this weekend, and my plan of making early-adopter videos etc will be obsolete by the time I break down and actually buy it on the seventh day, if I'm near a decent connection at the time (it is summer holidays here in Sweden).

It would be great to know for sure. I know it is a sale right now, and the price is good, but the equivalent would be the app ($20) + 3 IAP's (à $5/each) = $35, which I'd rather spend on other apps if I get this as a result of a competition, or perhaps buy FF Pro-R, but I would be really-not-pleased if I got the code after giving in and buying it.

I know I know, it is good quality software etc, and that should be rewarded, but a competition is a competition too, and its rules should be honoured. IMHO. Given that the competition was taken offline without pre-warning I have a hard time seeing I was somehow passed in the last 24 hours, given that I'd held my place 2 months before that (it was slow moving at the top), but hey, I guess that is a theoretical possibility.

The videos we are finding at yt were recorded almost a week ago (or more) and released when Intua opened the pandora's box probably... so don't hurt yourself, mate.
Try to calm and talk to @mathieugarcia to find a solution.

You can do a revision video when new update emerge and people will check it surely since ATM there aren't so interesting ones and some app lacks makes them useless sometimes.

  • The chord selections are really sweet. Lots of choice. They clearly put a lot of thought into it. Got myself some jazzy house Beats going with the base soul keys samples, set to Phrygian scale, with a few harmonic minor chords on the go.

In the latest Synth Anatomy video, the autoslice feature has a 'detect' option which isn't available in the release version. I presume this is the latest beta - maybe it has transient detection!

The earlier betas had transient detection but I guess it was too buggy in it's current state to be included in the release version. (It will, when it's fully functional also detect pitch and optionally set the root-key for the sample as well as tempo among other things).

...pitch too! Oh my... that has potential... mmmm, maybe Groovebox stems could become full on pattern notes.

    Try this:

    Go to scene mode.
Press on a cell to open the Bank pattern detail sidescreen
Near the bottom press the "play song" bar
You might need to do this for each bank.
    Go back to song mode
Make sure the playhead is set to the beginning of the song.
    Press play.

When you are doing stuff in scene mode, you apparently automatically end up flipping the default "play song" off so that the scene stuff takes priority. It doesn't have a way of knowing that you want to go back to the song as priority unless you reactivate the "play song" bar. (At least as far as I understand it so far.)

I tried your solution but it still doesn't work. I'm still not getting audio on the session I saved. I think it's a bug with using more than one instance of Poison-202 AUv3 plugin.

  • I'm still wondering where midi clock is. Does anyone know? I'm trying to sync my Mpk Mini 2 note repeat.

  • @Tarekith said:

    >

......The fun happened when I started hosting IAAs like Gmention x and Blocs on pads. BM3 makes it really easy to record the midi triggering the apps directly, or sample it as audio and then manipulate further. The ability to record perfect loops in time and then record that into your patterns ....ect

Are you able to comment on that particular set of tasks/work flow in comparison to Auria Pro? I've had Auria for years and very recently upgraded to Pro cause i couldn't pass up the sale price. I only begun last night to invest in learning the MIDI side of everything. I do like that you can bounce MIDI tracks into place. I should mention i have experience with Ableton and BM2 as well.

Also, does anyone know if Tempo can be automated? If so, can the audio be time-stretched as to not maintain pitch, ala the pitch warp setting in ableton?

  • The user and all related content has been deleted.
  • Had about 5 crashes so far mainly in the sequencer trying to put together patterns manually. This is quite annoying as manually saving after every few mins so as not to lose to much. What's the timing on auto save. Hopefully these bugs can be sorted in the next few updates. Currently running latest iOS on iPad Pro 9.7 I wish you see the cpu meter as a global view all the time.

Seeing the same thing. 3 instances of Poison each playing a pattern. Everything fine. Quit BM3 and reopen and play back same session. Visually everything is working. Mixer is animating, everything playing back but no sound.

Quit BM3 and opened another app. Sound plays back fine. Opened BM3 and everything works as expected. Reopened several times and all is fine. Added another instance of Poison. All working fine. Quit BM3 and re-opened. Same thing. All visuals working but no sound.

Might be something with Poison because something similar was happening on FLMS.

Can't try any other synths at this moment.

PS - tried Troublemaker. Working fine. Opened Poison session. No audio. Opened TM session. No audio. Quit BM3. Opened BM3 and TM session. Works as expected. Opened Poison session. No audio. After that any session opened will have no audio. Shutting down BM3 and the opening any session but Poison is fine. Poison session always kills the audio. Makes me think its something with Poison.

A bit convoluted process if you ask me (they could have just sent me the code in the first e-mail, like everyone else), but hey, it's on its way, which is a good thing. Hopefully I get it before I head out to the archipelago (with no data connectivity).

Yeah I worked that out from the app title dude.

The core of it is a stellar sampling system. The number of options it gives you to deal with a sample is almost a fault, because it can be a bit confusing the way banks can be divided down into separate instruments available through each pad. Setting that aside, the sampling abilities are really really good.

Second are it's functions as a DAW, which are proving to also be very good, with nice implementation of connectivity to other apps (AU, etc.). The pads can be set to show 64, and combine that with chord and scale options and you have a lot to work with.

The scene mode allows you to try different combinations of patterns, which you can then paste into your song. There are a very healthy number of modulation and automation options to go along with a nice suite of effects, though I haven't dabbled with the effects too much so I can't speak to their quality. You can also route bank tracks to audio tracks and record them if you wish. MIDI and audio editing are also pretty nicely done.

The interface was slightly overwhelming for me at first, but after some time I think it is rather intuitive: Buttons on the left side will take you to each section, and the fx and macros can be shown on any of those section.

This is already my favorite DAW for iOS, though I must admit my bias for the sampling core of BM3. I tend to like to deal with samples and audio more than synths and MIDI.

  • Just messing up summer - so far so good. Quick advice on how to get to the fx?

Yeah me too, thanks for the detailed review.

I've been using the iPad for music much less this year, and after buying Komplete a few weeks back have started using the desktop almost exclusively. But I still want to integrate it into the workflow somehow, so a decent sampler/arranger would work really well for me, and I can then export the audio blocks to the desktop.

The sampler section in this app looks really good, and being able to record IAA apps and then edit the results is just the ticket. At the moment I tend to record stuff via AUM into Audioshare, and this is really just a live recording to be edited elsewhere, or via Blocs. Blocs is great, but the sound quality seems a bit off sometimes, and you can't move the sample slice markers which is an issue. Maybe I could do something with Gadget, so need to look more at that one.

A few things worry me about this app though:

The DAW part looks (to me) more Maschine than Ableton - and as I've abandoned this on the desktop in favour of Live (lite), it wouldn't be my preferred way of working. Recording clip launching onto the timeline is the way to go.

I had the original Beatmaker - one of the first apps I bought - and never got to grips with it.

Bugs. There are a lot of issues being reported, and the one that worries me most is the crashing and losing saved work. I've wasted days of my life in iMPC Pro because of this, and I don't want to go through that all over again in a new app with more than a passing resemblance.

Price. I won't even consider this app until the bugs and crashing are dealt with, and by that time it'll (probably) be full price. Since I won't be using all of its features, £30 (?) to get sounds from my iPad to the desktop is going to be more of a considered purchase. I'm a (fairly skint) hobbyist so have to watch what I spend.

Saying all that though there's a lot of promise, and that sampler does look good. If the forum chatter turns more favourable, the bugs are fixed, the workflow is nailed with good tutorials and the intro price holds then it's definitely on the list.

The stuff that works works very well. The stuff that crashes seems to lie in the experimental side of things (i.e. some IAA and midi features) Modstep and MPC Pro had these problems for a long time. Machine for IOS has always been a bit boring feature wise, but the UI has always been very solid and well designed so people get it and it doesn't crash. Sad when developers try to cater to extreme niche groups with umpteen ways to route midi and audio with a dozen different apps... it would have been better for them to leave all that out and just give us the sampler sequencer. The app is definitely money well spent and should improve a lot in the years to come.

I thought it looked a bit like the desktop Maschine rather than the iOS version (which is pants in comparison). I think one of the users on here also made the Maschine link, rather than the Live workflow to which it's been compared.

If they can fix the crashes and bugs then it's definitely a great addition to anyone's noise making arsenal, and if I didn't have an iPad and desktop full of stuff already I'd definitely have jumped in by now. But certainly the sampler has grabbed my attention, so I'll be keeping an eye on progress on that one.

Update: just been watching a few new vids, and this may be an addition sooner than I thought...

*Are multiple audio output channels exposed (for ios, not just if you have hardware interface attached)
*Stem export for separate audio channels?
