That one should be easy to find/fix.
Other than that, Link has been acting a little bit wonky lately (possibly since the last library update from Ableton?). I've asked other devs using Link if they see the same behavior, but it seems we're all on different versions of the Link Library so narrowing down possible causes is a major headache with so many variables in the equation.
Just purchased all the remaining BB apps I didn't already own. Really good stuff. Actually had some music happening over link in AUM. Lightweight apps, simple, fun.
One question; is it possible to access lower registers in troublemaker? I'm trying to get a really deep bass sound with the sequencer but it's not having it. Thanks!
The built-in sequencer has a limited range, but via MIDI it's possible to go as low/high as you like. Perhaps using a MIDI plugin in Audiobus MIDI helps transposing everything down an octave or two. But not from the regular sequencer GUI.
I can confirm. Link is back to be as good in sync as with the old midi sync stuff.
Thanks for the reply! Might be an idea to have an octave switch at some point? But I can still make cool things in the meantime. BTW Ripplemaker is great. Held off getting this for a long time but it's really cool. All your apps are tbh. Sequencer for Phasemaker next perhaps?
I use the MF transposer filter in AB3 every time I use troublemaker for just this reason. That said, it would save me a step if the TM sequencer went down one more octave. I use Ripplemaker for my fave bass sounds--love the deep tones I can get.
+1....Please
@brambos
So I noticed a hack of when I map a controller to the sequencer i can go over the base number of steps to 126 steps. although I do crash and get some strange behaviour so it's unintentional I guess?. And most of the time the extras steps aren't recognised and don't play.
But please keep this feature in and make it official! it's great. Having that number of steps is brilliant for some extra complex sequences especially when you are triggering notes
But any way of stabilising it would be great.
No. NO. WHY WOULD YOU POINT THIS OUT. Now it will get patched out. Bram pretty shot down my 128 step idea back in the betas. Was hoping this would be a feature that was hidden that I could use. You just crippled my melodic sequencer
Quick. Delete your posts content before the Bram sees it.
Hi @Carnbot @gonekrazy3000 Can you please tell me more about this hack? I'd like to try and reproduce it. Do you do this only with the standalone sequencer or does it work also inside a host? Which midi controller do you use? Thx
Well hopefully Mr Bram can make it an advanced feature
Thing is at this point even though it looks like it works it doesn't. It still only triggers the 32 steps.
Hello, I am sorry if I missed this in the manual, but is there a way to undo the randomize in Ruismaker? It is great for bringing in a complete change to the drums, but it would be great if I could quickly go back. This would make it almost like a fill button that takes you back and forth between the pattern you have created and a randomly generated one. Sorry if I missed how to do this in the manual.
This is the most desirable feature request in all of the "maker" apps, IMHO. I'd love to be able to randomize for a bit and then hit a "reset" button that takes me back to the original sequence.
You can try. I'm using a Launch control XL. but I think it's a bit of a tease because at first I thought it was triggering the extra notes but now i'm pretty sure that can't happen. I really hope this does get enabled because it would be great for interesting patterns
What I do is have two instances of Ruismaker in AB3 one as a AUv3 and the other as a regular IAA so the standalone UI pops out when selected.
On the IAA version randomize and use the Eucledian sequencer. That's how I was doing it yesterday while Beatonal sent Midi drums to AUv3 Ruismaker, I used the other IAA instance to do fills and stuff, triggering it ON/Off with AB3 sidebar switch.
So much fun!
Even if it doesn't trigger the notes It might work as a master reset lane for the other patterns. Will throughly test it when I get a chance.
Ah ah. ok. Thx
The way I do this is by recalling the saved preset.
@brambos while using a controller (korg nanokontrol studio) with ruismaker fm and mapping a knob to the sequencer beats knob i see the values move when i turn it but no audible change happens. When i move the onscreen knob it immediately works. The controller only makes a visual adjustment.
Put som audiodamage Replicant and or Dubstation and its geting crazy fun and weird rythms!
Ahh.. I think I know why. I'll fix that. Thanks!
@brambos : the GM keymap button is for both midi in and midi out ? When i press this button the mapping did not change... Thanks
Just for midi in. It tells the AU what notes to listen for (in case you want to drive it with an external sequencer).
Thank you
@brambos Loving the apps. Loving the sequencers, so good. Small feature request — hit the row in the sequencer to activate track. Also would love to be able to output audio as separate tracks (rather than removing from seq. and exporting them all individually). Gonna buy Ripplemaker now show my support! Any chance that the AU's will come to the Mac in the future?
I'm looking into such features. Easier workaround for now is muting the channels (double-tap the channel button) rather than removing them. That way you can still group channels that belong together in the export (such as toms, or hihats).
Hopefully I'm just missing something obvious, but has Ruismaker's global compression dial vanished? It was in the location where the 'GM Keymap' toggle is now. I hope it's not gone as some of the best sounds from Ruismaker came from the various tones which that dial creates!
Yes, I removed it. It was just eating up lots of resources and imo it didn't sound as good as most 3rd party compression plugins. I'm surprised someone actually did use it
I think pairing up Ruismaker with something like Audiodamage's Rough Rider makes much more sense if you're looking for that sound - and will give you a bit more control too.
Ok cool, good to know that it's a trade off for more resources anyway. Always a major benefit!
Generally I left it more or less neutral but what was good about it was that it offered quite a wide timbral 'global' spectrum on top of the instruments themselves. Cranking it to its extremes got some really interesting and great sounding results, getting kick sounds in particular to break up and make some crazily deep bass tones. If I'd known it was going to go, I'd definitely have taken a bunch of samples before the update!
I reckon you'd get an awesome collection of ridiculous sounds just by turning it maximum clockwise, starting record and hitting 'randomise-kick-randomise-kick-randomise(etc)' for a while.
1.0.1 update is off to Apple for review for both Ruismakers.
Most notable new thing: GM Keymap button also applies to sequencer (meaning the sequencer will output GM drum notes and will also export GM notes in the MID file).
