Love it, will compile some feature requests after I've worked it all out :D
interactive help is really useful too thanks :)

sure - feel free to ask for enhancements.. for example on my list is midi lfo's tempo sync'd or free running, clip(sequence) launching panel, clip arrangement (horizontal time layout)...

oh yes think I saw an image on your facebook page of clips arrangement, is that an upcoming thing?

yes - I wrote a clip sequencer a couple of years ago - a grid of 4x5 clips arranged like a pad (a clipboard if you like)- Quantum uses some of that code (like the follow actions) but laid out the clips horizontally in a rack. I had 20 running at once.

I aim to create a full screen panel that allows you to drag & drop sequences then use touch to start/cue them to play. Easy to do now I have all the code for it just need the UI.

Great looking forward to that, will make it easier to arrange. :)

Man, just spent another hour getting taken away. This is the ultimate wormhole app, meant in the best way

    thx

  • @midiSequencer top work here, Quantum is very powerful. I’ve had great fun using it to drive LayR.

This really scratches the Numerology on ios itch

I do have a question - is there any chance of ios11 multitasking support down the line? I'd love to be able to run it in split screen

interesting idea - adding to list - but iOS 11 is only on my phone at the moment so being very bad - but I did buy an iPad pro for that purpose of slit screen

    Sounds good!

Again, congratulations on making such a fantastic app

This sequencer looks deep, but OMG that GUI is killing me! Italic serif fonts, muddled colors and faux 3D buttons. Ya’ll flashing me back to Windows 95!
Oh, I’m still buying it though.

There was NOTHING wrong with 95

OMG I can hardly type I’m laughing so hard!

  • Can you record steps with a midi keyboard? If so, can you run the sequencer, and replace notes in the sequence, by playing a note on a beat, and next time it loops around, it plays that new note on that beat?

That can be a fun way to "play" sequencers, and evolve the sequence, since it gets repetitive quick, playing the same measure over and over.

  • Any plans to add more than 6 channels? Or a graphical grid-style interface?

I wasn't a fan of the look when I bought midisequencer but I actually got my head around Quantum faster than I thought I would

Quantum sequencing my favorite plug-ins (like Keyscape) is the dogs bollocks (i hope i got that slang right).

    Spot on

  • @midiSequencer - check out Xequence.
It has Per-track Delay (timeshift +/- 200 ms)
Would be amazing if you could do this

    • and even allow any step to be delayed forward or backwards in time.
It could make this app (more) amazing ;)
  • I’m trying to set up a sequence with 4 parts that all start simultaneously when the master play button is pressed. So far it seems that only the currently selected part starts automatically. Is there a way to do this?

The sequence has 64 steps. Part A is 1-16, B is 17-32, etc.

  • Can you mix time signatures on this?

Make sure the right button of the group of three that are just right of center on each Rack sequencer has a plus sign in it so all parts A-D start together. Help (?) shows this when the button is selected

    Thanks @yowza that was it!

I guess I fat-fingered the spot when I had help enabled because nothing came up.

[edit] the help doesn’t come up when touching that control on my iPhone 7. So thanks again for posting.

That's the same bug I just told Tony about on my iPhone 6 so it's affecting both phones. I already knew what that button was from beta testing Quantum but I saw the bug yesterday on my phone. He's on the case!

doesn't suit those that like piano-roll or pattern based composing - but patterns are coming later, as well as midi files....

Well I like pattern based composing the most and I've fallen in love with this thing so you may just have to eat your words, sir! ;)

  • What's the quick answer to the question, how is quantum sequencer different from the original strength?

  • @ExAsperis99 said:

Six times stronger (six sequences vs one) and four times longer (64 steps vs 16)? Even that's not the whole story.

  • Aha. So if I didn't really find the delayed in the original midisequencer, six times more powerful is not going to do much for me, I don't think. Perhaps I should noodle around with the original for a while first! Thank you very much.

  • @TheVimFuego said:
Reads description sees an explicit noodling enabler, mashes "Buy".

@midiSequencer I LOVE ❤️ the app, and the quick reloading of the last project from the first screen!

Looking forward to the rest with a magnifying glass and stylus - kidding / not kidding. You mashed everything into such a small space (respect for bothering w the iPhone version)

Between my last couple of purchases I can finally do everything I dreamt of musically on my iPhone (yours included)

  • don’t know if it is possible. but can you record notes in like this (starting 1:53). ? if so, how?

  • edited October 2017

nice app - easy to get stuff happening - very intuitive to use

So I dug in a bit. If you're put off by the dated graphics--don't be. It's crazy wonderful. No other app I have can do what this does remotely. Bought.

  • It looks unusable for an iPad mini without a stencil, am I right? I might get it anyway, as long as the extensive midi control is making up for this.

I use it on a mini 4, no stylus and it’s fine. Don’t let anything about the look put you off. It’s very well thought out.

  • A little hazy on using multiple synths in AUM. How does the routing work? (Perennial question.)

    Seems like it does...

  • Just wanna pass an epic congratulations to Tony. I'm stoked to read folks are digging it. It's easy to miss when looking at a finished product just how many iterations were involved. Been on the beta team for a while and any one of the gagillion change logs that came through would make for a hefty Wikipedia entry.
