    YES

...now we need a list with already supporting apps :)

edit:uhm, nevermind. It was just one click away inside the app :D

edit2:but ist seems it lists just ALL apps that have a ACP function and not especially ACP 2.0

so,is it possible to copy more than one clip at once (like in sonoma pasteboard)if you have two ACP 2.0 apps?

  • Compatibility: Requires iOS 7.0 or later. I am still on 6.1.3

  • edited October 2013

yeah but in iOS6 you have Sonoma ACP and/or audioshare anyway...Should be enough ;-)

  • Cool! This was one of the big things I was waiting on! :-)

    Initial thoughts...

Put the "compatible apps" list in a sub menu or something (please), it's loooong and is just gonna get longer (and longer to load). Ability to delete the audio file in the General Paste board (the swipe doesn't seem to work). When pasting into an, the initial loading of AudioCopy app takes just a wee bit long, it seems to go on the net etc, any improvements here to speed it up would be awesome. Other then that, it seems great! Kudos to the Retronyms guys.

Edit: in the compat list....Unless it means more resources used by the AudioCopy app, it would be neat if when clicking on an app you already have installed AudioCopy would just open the app instead of redirecting to the AppStore.

  • I must say I'm a bit disappointed:

    • They say it's "the missing file browser for iOS music apps".. Then why did I spend the last years developing AudioShare? I did ask them to reconsider their focus with this app, really no need for them to try to steal functionality from AudioShare, but no.
    • The Sonoma SDK was open source, which made it possible for AudioShare to implement deleting items on the pasteboard as well as batch copy a bunch of file at once. These features are now impossible to implement for me, since retronyms keeps the new SDK closed source.
    • No backward compatibility with Sonoma ACP and iOS6, so all apps still need to implement both to keep supporting iOS6.
    • Advertising inside the ACP app for their tabletop stuff.
    • Only supports 16 bit 44.1kHz linear PCM format (compared to Generic/Intua pasteboard and AudioShare import/export SDK which supports any file format, even MIDI files)
  • "These features are now impossible to implement for me, since retronyms keeps the new SDK closed source" / Liljedahl

I didn't know that. That just sucks. :/ RN, open up the SDK eh?

  • They'll be upsetting a lot of us if they handicap Audioshare!

  • A few low star reviews might nudge them

  • Maybe I'm overreacting, but I get the feeling they want to compete it out. As far as I can see, everything ACP2 does is already possible with the free and open source AudioShare SDK. And it supports iOS5/6/7, and is not limited to 16/44k WAV files.

  • @j_liljedahl Your app is hands down the best file browser app for audio in existance. Don't let this app's comment "the missing file browser..." get to you, because we all know who has the true king of the audio file browsers. :-)

I wasn't aware of the advertising. That really, really sucks!

I wasn't aware that the new SDK was closed source...that sucks too....

...Only supports 16 bit 44.1kHz linear PCM format... This sucks too!

I don't even have it yet and I'm disappointed too! :-(

I'm surely getting a bit emotional since AudioShare is my "baby" :) But if they could rephrase that marketing-speak words a bit, and instead focus on communicating "The new and better AudioCopy, compatible with iOS7", and then also actually make it better by allowing third party apps full access to the pasteboard manager, and supporting any file types. Then I would be just fine.

And thanks for the support @Audiojunkie and all :)

yes,i don't like the shitload of ads as well (called"news").Not cool.I would prefer to spend a (few)buck(s).Especially an app like this should be as slim/slick as possible.I already have a brilliant filebrowser,it's called audioshare ;-) I just wantl/need a way to get the old sonoma ACP functionality back, being able to copy multiple files.I was also never a fan of retronyms business model with Table Top (i remember 5-6 bucks just for a supersimple mixer)or iMPC.This behaviour (regarding the closed SDK and ads)doesn't make it any better.

Thanks to audiobus i usually don't need acp anymore with one exception:without having pro quality effects (or automation)in cubasis and the missing Midi editor in Auria i still need both apps to complete a song and therefore the ability to copy multiple files from one to the other app...

If it's one thing the iOS music community have shown (both devs and users) is how fast we are all able to switch and adapt to different "standards" when it comes to things like this. iOS is still young so...

I think the first open SDK audio hub/manager that incorporates what GoodReader has manage to do for years, copying/pasting/managing audio inside your entire home network with a few various protocols, will be what users would want to use. And obviously full access to its own copy/paste board, the iOS general pasteboard and iTunes filesharing (that last one I think we all hate, connecting the iPad to a computer just to delete audio files). Obviously the footprint needs to be really small, so I have no idea if all this is possible with a tiny app..

A question for anyone knowledgable: in iOS7 is there a way to copy/paste between apps that support ACP only without using ACP? For example, does General copy/paste kick in somehow with the absence of the ACP2.0 app? If so, I'm going to refuse to install the ACP 2.0 app. I HATE when companies get greedy like this....and Retronyms was never really in my good book to begin with....they are NOT team players...

They don't plaster tabletop in your face, it's just on top of that list. But whatever, that list needs to be tucked away somewhere anyway.

@j_liljedahl - AudioShare is the motherf@!king jam king on iOS for audio file browsing/sharing and I think most people already know that. I've always made sure to put "Export to AudioShare" and now "Import to AudioShare" as the first options for getting audio in/out of Echo Pad for that very reason. :-)

    .

  • Well they aren't going to "own & control" anything on my ipad. I may just download the app just so that I can give it a crappy reveiw! :-(

  • And then I'll delete it again! Hahaha!

  • @Audiojunkie Yes, apps implementing ACP2 will fall back to generic pasteboard if their app is not installed.

  • EXCELLENT!!! My plan is set! I will install it long enough to post what I think of apps like this (review it), and then get rid of it! :-) So long Suckas (Retronyms)!!!

  • So I have to run another app that eats CPU and RAM to use the new and "improved" ACP? I'll pass. Never used the batch mode. Love AudioShare.

  • A "standard" ACP on the iOS platform will not live long enough to be the "standard" if it's by a independent 3rd party developer using a closed SDK , atleast that's how I read it all. If a dev like Kymatica can't implement a thing like batch copy/paste becouse Retronyms SDK is closed (just as an example), other devs and users would obviously seek for a new more open ACP ....? I would.

  • Good lord. I downloaded this and got a ton of ads and another soundcloud client. Um, how about something USEFUL - like instructions?

  • edited October 2013

AudioShare is the best audio share app by a country mile. I loved Sonoma pasteboard because i was able to copy 12 pieces at once etc. Is there now any option to do this still? If not, it's another step back in general! To AudioCopy 2.0..... what did they smoke?? 1 Star....5 for AudioShare!!!

  • Well said @TedBPhx That's exactly how I feel about it. I've never used the batch mode, and love audioshare, and HATE when people play dirty--which I think Retronyms is trying to do.

  • @AlleycatLA

"Good lord. I downloaded this and got a ton of ads and another soundcloud client. Um, how about something USEFUL - like instructions?"

Sounds like a perfect comment to go along with a one star rating. ;-)

  • Just to be fair: I don't even have batch export/import in the AudioShare SDK (I should really add something like that). And AudioShare SDK of course needs AudioShare installed. But on the other hand it was never meant to compete with Sonoma ACP, only complement it, ACP being one of several ways to get sound files into and out from AudioShare.

I'm sure many apps will implement Retronyms ACP2, and I really hope they will at least improve their SDK, perhaps even rephrase their "the missing file browser" marketing speak, and we can all live happily in peace together :)

  • @Galaxyexplorer You won't get the ability to copy 12 pieces at once without ACP2.0, but ACP2 will fall back to generic pasteboard if the ACP 2.0 app is not installed. So apps that have ACP2 won't have any negative consequence otherwise if you choose to not install ACP2.0. Screw Retronyms!
