@obijohn hey i appreciate your kind words .. im listening to your song right now .. it has a very powerful intro. and then turns into a completely different thing than i thought it would... as for the mix it sounds ok but theres something in it that doesn't sound like it fits in to the song ,maybe the vocals are too loud ,maybe your mix is too compressed as the drums fall out alot to make way for the more dominant track .. they fall out quite a bit ... you need that head room you started your song with to follow thru more... like i said you killed it in the intro. that was a powerful sound
@bluepunk . hey im listening to your track . for starters i gotta say i really believe theres a guitar player and bass player backing you up in a sunny music festival.. unfortunately im not too convinced with the drummer .. it sounds little distorted and can have more of a punch .the tamborine player though kicks in like the star of the show. i can't say I've heard a better tamborine player making the best of his skills on a track.. don't hold back on your vocals. start tracking in the middle of the day so you can really open up more as it seems your holding back quite a bit.. all in all it was a short one that i had to listen to 3 times while i wrote this up.. great effort your putting out .
@richardyot great choice of drums .they sound great along with that bass line and organ thing you got going.. love the head room that lets that bell just fucken ring thru.; ok about the vocals they sound great in the mix .. might be a little too wobbly for me at parts . in my opinion if you brought the effect mix down by like 20 percent it would sound great.. good mix over all.
@crouchie sounds cool. vocals sound great. back ups sound great too. different than what i recall your previous tracks but thats ok i feel every song i write is completely different than anything i had written. .. vocals are great.. good job on that
@LostBoy85 theres a hiss i can notice a lot in the beginning not sure if its intentional or not but it adds a lot of life to the sound. your vocals are great .they sit perfect along the whole way thru .. might try throwing a deeser on it just a little as your sibilants are brought up a lot a couple times..other than that your compression sounds great, almost transparent. id have to say good job.. almost sounds like it was recorded on a two inch reel to reel studer thru and avalon and a telefunken mike .mixed down on a tritan board somewhere on hollywood bulevard. good job dude
@theconnactic fucken awesome track dude.. love those drums and stand up bass you got there... only thing is i wish you'd lay off on the autotune just a bit. the whole thing sounds really organic and i think your vocals would sound awesome just as natural.. either way it doesn't bug me too much it all sounds great. love the head room.. great job
Thanks @studs1966 appreciate your kind words.
"So Good".... Oh yeah, it is baby! Took on the disco version and it ruined me. Picking up the pile of bones left on the floor post-dancing, I noticed something different. Am unsure if it is the tone/delivery of the vocals that pulls me inside intimacy, but this track owns an amorous aura diving deeper into your Pathos Pathways of Lurve. Tender tones in abundance and so much more than a holiday romance. Yes geezer, this has substance of soul and a slow dance friend as well as a shin displacer. Fabulous. A.
Business busy? Not Disco Balls (congrats on all the releases)....the pools?
Thanks man! Yeah that was percussion on Groovebox... not 100% sure which kit, I haven't really bought any of the drums in the app because there's so many other places to get drum sounds from
@theconnactic Wow! Blew me away! Was not expecting that! Music, video, craftsman, original, emotional, the Ocean.....Super talented. There are zero shackles of musical constraint holding you back Dimitri, you are free to roam the planet and fill it with your creativity. Wow!
Disabled buildings have punk magnets attached and I am duty bound to investigate. Bet those at 2.08 could tell a story or two..... like you will be to the interviewer of Mojo magazine soon if you carry on serving brilliance for dinner. A.
Cheers Mate. Very much appreciated...… Yep!...….. I think July/August has come early..... The end of April, the heat went up to 38C. So the pools have heated up a bit earlier than normal (which has annoyed my pocket. )…. So yes matey, it's back to sweating behind the eyeballs time.
@StMichaels Welcome. You caught me at the right/wrong time. Chances are the dog and his dad will have to say goodbye shortly and his eyes married mine for 5 minutes and 19 seconds of solid, honest, telepathy listening to your epic. Look sir, I know little of music things only that it affects me emotionally. Your son may have lost interest making music for the time being, but please tell him that it has the power to make grown men cry so just think what it can it do to women? That is why I am a drummer..... Yes, this drummer is thick, but knows that Love Hurts. A.
@LostBoy85 Go on then Leo. Sifting sorrow suits your voice.... everything does. From an Avalanche of "an upbeat, hooky affair" (who told you that? ) to the silence of tears, and all with young Johan. Hello Johan....how are you?....cor....tidy drumming....what tight skins you have....not lacking collagen are they?....wrinkle-free....Mmmm....
"On that rusty swing" hits hard Leo and love the way you say 'Pain'....little things matter....like the exhale of sound from all instruments at 3.19....whoosh....beautiful....felt the lot mates....A....
Collected on an outsider a few decades ago. Silent Tears romped home at 16's. Got slaughtered. You two are thoroughly thoroughbreds and shall keep an eye out for a nag called 'Sky Lanterns' now. Bound to be the favourite. A.
And on SC.....love the confidence you give us lessers. "Avalanche.....Rock Anthem". See you on BGT next season.
@icsleepers Hang on...527 hits!....that is 7 more than Leo!....who are you?....(note to The Boys at the next AGM: careful, vet them with torture first, pop stars are taking over) Welcome.
Apart from 'chopped up', the technicals, as always with me, need an interpreter, but music doesn't. Above top shelf majestic mixing mate filling skulls with the perfect (to these ears) portions of music n space. Been trying to catch one of those tiny puffs of 'ah' that pop up every 7.77 clicks into a bar....just above the left lug....little buggers. The rest is smooth, sultry....winking a wink to Mark King from Level 42. Yep, there's something in the rhythm associated to his style....Huge compliment. A
Glee. 'C' stands for City I see.
@Bluepunk Thanks! Next month will be a little drum and bass, methinks. We’ll see!
@badrico Cinematic. Sarah Connor jigs with Chief Ripley who jives with Dr Linsey Brigman. Today is Ladies Day at Epsom and they're all there strutting, so why is Michael Biehn in attendance? Confused probably. Who does he save/kill? is he Private Kyle Reese, or Corporal Hicks or Lieutenant Coffey? Whoever he is, (a Cameron clone) the pink fascinator he wears is fetching.
An industrial camp fire without baked beans. A.
Nice slow builder ... great track
Got some catching up to do, sorry for the delayed reviews.
@studs1966 I'm sure those are actually two completely different songs this time around? The vocals are different. Maybe you're just testing us to see if we're paying attention?
Anyway lots of great summer vibes going there, and great instrumentation around those vocals. Love the bass lines and the keys, and the leads - all of it is really polished.
@StMichaels nice track - very strong Vangelis vibe going here, with some really nice melodies. I like instrumentals that are well-constructed and have good melodies, and this one is really well crafted. My only criticism would be to maybe try and break out a little from the Vangelis mold with some maybe more edgy or modern sounds thrown in, just to make it more your own. But it's a really nice, well composed track, well done.
Thanks Richard. No actually, I cocked up when I was pasting from Soundcloud. But..... I was...…. Ummmmmm…… Err..... Ummmmmm….. Yes, that's right, I was testing to see if anybody paid attention...…. Ahem!....
@Eriko It's very nice, chilled track (Gadget? Sounds like it could be) but it's too long
Apart from the length I like everything about it: nice groove, great bass line, nice melodic arps, lovely tune. Cut it back to 4 minutes and you have real winner.
@icsleepers Good stuff, I especially like the vocal sample (or is that you singing? If it is well kudos cos it's great), but the muted trumpet at the start and end is also very nice. The whole track has a lovely vibe.
The change half-way through is quite sudden but it works, although that middle section is not quite as strong as the start and end.
Yup. thats exactly what I was aiming for ; ) !
..... this the kinda review that makes me listen to my tune again..
just to identify that moment when the menacing clone beneath the fascinator is suddenly revealed.
cheers, bad
@badrico Nice - love an instrumental that is both groovy and not too obviously EDM-sounding. Some really deep sounds here, sounds lovely on my floorstanding speakers..
That wobbly bass is delicious, and the percussive melodies that swirl around are also a treat. Really enjoyed listening to this one. The lead that comes in the final third is also really good, great choice of sounds.
It is a fraction too long for my tastes, but what the hell I'll give you a pass this time as it's such a killer tune.
@richardyot Thanks man! It’s a vocal sample haha, what I’m posting for next (this) month will have a home brew vocal sample ;}
@Bluepunk a father/daughter pop act? It definitely has a different flavour than the Carter Family. You might want to watch the language in front of the kids though
It's a fragment of a song but it's pretty powerful. Your vocals are getting better all the time, the shouty swearing is absolutely in tune, and more confident than before (god forbid). Good job on the drums to your daughter and the guitars and bass were spot on. B+
Thanks richardyot, glad your speakers felt the love. Tis true, if I waited a couple weeks before posting most of my tunes would lose about a minute !
cheers, bad
@aaronpc I loved this from the first few seconds, some really good sound design going on here, everything is just so weird and fucked up but in a really interesting and musical way - no cliched sounds at all, just really well crafted innovation - it feels like a lot of effort has gone into making these sounds. The percussion is mind-boggling, and all the sounds are really good.
The vocal is perfect, love the treatment and love the melody. It's very dense, lots of words, but it works really well. Really loved the track.
We're not sorry... Carter family,
We wouldn't copy you...Fuck me,
Just not comfortable playing bluegrass,
yeah yeah yeah....
Wow. B+! Thanks from the both sides of Blueblood.
Made me laugh, especially the last verse. Great stuff! Still got the magic! And drums beautifully programmed
I really did like this, and it carried me along nicely, but I just wanted a little bit more going on in the background, a few more samples maybe, a few little incidental noises just to out the sense of atmosphere a little bit more. Now I am certainly not saying that I know how to do that, so please don’t take it the wrong way! It’s just that little bits like really make me want to come back to tunes like this. Is great though, and still very effective
