    Thanks...

  • How many pads are there for the new drum pads and do they have slice to pads option?
Also does Patterning2 have bit crushing & or decimate effects?
    Can Patterning load Auv3 effects?
Thanks in advance for any info

  • Nice demo :)

  • @benkamen - Found out this weekend that I am friends with one of your students - Amina AKA Foxdye AKA Phoxii...

She hadn't gotten a chance to check out Patterning until the other day, we had fun running it through the soundsystem off hours at this festival we were hanging out at... Its sounding very good on the big speakers, yay!

Vry much looking forward to the new design, cheers!

  • Hey Ben what about uncoupling the automation and other parameter rings from the sample rings... how feasible is that? so that you can have different resolutions for tuning for example that are higher or lower resolutions than the samples you're tuning?

  • Patterning with MIDI out? Instant buy!

Oh then, how do you tell Patterning to play let's say Sunrizer instruments via MIDI? Can't figure out how to do that. Thanks.

Oh cool thanks. I wasn't looking in the right section. Just checked with AUM, it's awesome. Love doing some very rhythmic synths!

  • It is possible to have a larger course tuning range than +/- 12 semi tones?

No, it's not. I've thought about that, but it makes automation so much harder with the larger range.

I can see why you made this choice due to it being more difficult to use.
The great thing about a wider tuning range is you can make some excellent high frequency clicks and pops which work well in electronic soundscapes. Maybe there could be a settings menu where you could switch to different ranges/features to the existing standard settings so not to interfere with your original concept? Like a hidden feature.

  • I love thoose colorschemes. Nicely and esthetic in my eyes. :)

Yes, the colours are a really nice touch 👍

  • The color scheme option may seem like a small thing but I love being able to choose the colors to make the layout easy to scan and move around quickly on. The red & purple option is awesome.

@benkamen putting over his Seahawks was a nice move too...

just trying to have some fun :)

  • Hi, can someone clafiy how Midi Program Change is implemented in Paterning 2, i.e. does PC change song and kit? Or is kit change implemented by note and / or CC? Thanks

  • I’m running into problems routing midi into gadget. It cuts the audio and generally causes gadget to mess up. Anyone running into this?

  • Is there an easy way to migrate Patterning1 data to Patterning2?

    Yes.

    Database
The DATABASE menu is available on the FILE page, and is used to create or import a manual backup of Patterning’s database, including all songs, patterns, samples, and drum kits. You can use this option to import your entire Patterning 1 database into Patterning 2.
Importing a database will replace the current database, deleting all of your current data and replacing it with the imported database. It will NOT merge the two databases. Only use this option if you know what you are doing.
When exporting a database in either version of Patterning, the database will be saved to iTunes File Sharing as a folder named backup.patterningDatabase. This entire folder must be copied, unmodified, into the iTunes File Sharing folder for Patterning 2. After moving the folder, open up Patterning 2 and select Database > Import Database.
It may take a minute to copy the database. After importing, you will need to quit and restart Patterning 2. When re-launching Patterning 2, the load time may be significant, as it will need to update the database to match the current app database model.

    PS. Whoot!

Ahhh, was initialy thinking it was too bad I couldnt change drumkits within a pattern but then realised I can make the patterns super short in the song, duh... tis good :)

  • And I believe you can live change the kits by flying your finger over the kits selector while the pattern is playing? But perhaps you prefer to have it pre-programmed. Short patterns is a good solution for that.

Spent the afternoon on it.. Love all the layer probability, the ui, tight midi in/out(nordDrum pads).
Amazing for ratcheting hats.. But could not find any step conditionals. I.e. play step 1 of 2. Am I missing something?

  • Just wish I could take the midi out of it say from patterning to GarageBand. I like to create in app then drop the midi into GarageBand now that is has that capability.

  • I wonder why there is not more talking about Patterning 2?!
