Would be nice if it is TB3.![>:) >:)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/naughty.png)
Whatever, i hope they just not add it for a new line of dongles but really for extended use of accessories like extern SSD and i hope it‘s not only for import/export data but also for streaming samples f.e.
But for some reason i doubt it. Otherwise there is no reason to pay 2k for the maxed out version
Is anyone else concerned about the potential rounded corners affecting the UI of many apps such as BM3, cubasis etc. Thinking of buttons in the corner etc. Apple surely would have considered the implications of this for their own software such as Garageband ...
(the rounded corners pose more of a problem on iPad than iPhone IMO as on iPhone the rounded parts are usually away from the main UI of an app)
Guardian article speculating about the new iPad pro & new macbooks:
https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2018/oct/29/apple-announce-new-ipad-pro-without-home-button-usb-c-new-macbook-air
@Dawdles I see your point (on the eternal discussion) but I gone for the mac mini route once again. The workflow you described is mainy garageband but lots of props reject use it as being toyish (people should forget garageband iOS projects could be open inside Logic and Logic remote work with Garageband desktop and Mainstage... and it works with lightning cable without needing wifi or ethernet)
In the other workflow (ableton export compatible apps) I found a pleasure use airdrop from Blocs to Ableton.
I understand it isn’t the best tools for everyone (probably the less for Hiphop headz) but from numbers side (the Apple focus ofcoursse) being Launchpad one of the most downloaded apps in the store probably their are flowing the trend.
So I’m not saying (by far) you are wrong but I think it’s up to user workflow and brands target. It’s not the same the target for BM3 than Blocs or Garageband iOS. An experienced producer could do music with any of them but it’s clear (it is right?) where the money and focus is. Even Intua figured by themselves (IMHO) when after release the numbers maybe didn’t go so well and play the freebie card to sell more packs later (since BM3 hasn’t feature iAPs).
If I should recommend one of my Hiphop headz friends (yes I’m masoquist) which tool buy probably I will say late 2012 mbp. I bought mini due my budget and workflow (and bad experience with batteries in the past) but bangforbuck it’s still the best tool. IPad pro series for the designers but these have a mbp right now so again different needs, different tool.
I love the surface book (in fact I envisioned that and mac mini modular years ago but my friends laugh at me due the hinge concept... Apple should develop something better who knows) but price specs and software (windows based) makes it a no go for me. I need Mainstage on desktop/laptop and garageband for iOS fits perfectly into the equation, but that’s for me.
Software devs want to suck you're into there specific system, especially DAWs with a steep learning curve will hold you back from changing to another one. If you're on Mac and into Logic it's nearly impossible to change. A Daw as Ableton makes it quite easy. Before start playing around always look at cross platform compatibilty Win/MacOS. Nearly 100% of the important VST/ AU plugins are cross platform. Only some DAWs are platform unique.
I really, really want there to be a proper version of Logic for iOS.
The thing is Apple becames the exception and the standard at the same time. That’s the actual problem with market shifting from desktop to mobile (the so-called post pc era) where an app like BM3 which can fight against Maschine (desktop) cost 10 time less... but has a potential market 100 times bigger (Apple iDevices).
Before Apple ditched the pro segment (now thinner than ever) Apple computers were the referent for professional studios (as Adobe, Logic/Cubase/Protools etc) but after the Air series (more powerful less weight and temperature) Apple targeted towards prosumers and only after the trash bin mac pro debacle they start seem to keep pleased pro users but these are still waiting (maybe today?) due iMac pro, macbook pro and iPad pro are too step less powerful than windows machines (but the proposal is still Air souled) so
Apple is itself is a non cross plataform proposal but also keeping things in their closed garden bring us into the actual landscape (with pros and cons).
I’m not sure why you quoted me but if I understood right is this professional cross plataforming to point windows as professional or necessity...?
My point was just the opposite: Apple is ditching professionals as target and focusing into prosumers who doesn’t need the professional tools from 20 years ago. The trucks what Steve Jobs pointed at the post pc claim. I’m not saying it’s ok or the truth... I’m saying it’s their strategy from iPod years and put them at 1st place capitalization business which was and is their main objective. They release in all segments to keep the brand but they make the money from the iPhone. In fact even Microsoft ditched the windows as main revenue and it’s trying to pursue the path (failing most times with their attempts but bringing some nices concepts and competition)
One example (but there is lots of)
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2018-04-02/microsoft-is-officially-not-the-windows-company-anymore
It’s sad since the best active in Apple is OSX (macOS and iOS with all the flavours tvOS, watchOS; apple car...) but Microsoft hasn’t find the way to keep relevant against Apple or Alphabet in these fields meanwhile they were losing market in this new shift. Maybe they are trying with Azure...
I said years ago envisioned some products but if you ask me today I will say Future is OS in the cloud, in fact is being present but will be full future when Apple finds the point (usually are they who gets the sweet spot from others technology and ideas)
Brands are pushing to cloud computing...
https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/design-visualization/grid-vpc-vapps/
https://www.nvidia.com/object/cloud-gaming.html
https://www.theverge.com/2018/3/15/17123452/microsoft-gaming-cloud-xbox-future
So I can imagine Apple going further in their iCloud and sell Logic as cloud service as they do with Pages, Numbers and Keynote... and why not entire macOS itself?
Thunderbolt speed for external data. That would be useful.
I pointed you out that dependency a certain platform makes you depended and once your depended you will hand out (maybe) too much money to keep you going on that platform being whatever OS you're using. The future is hard to predict especially when you look at look term corporate interests. On one hand there's a group of peopel that believes everything will be browser based, so no depency of a certain platform anymore. On the otherhand you see a groups of people (the corps) that want everything to (OS specific) apps.
The only thing I see around me (musicians) is that people shift back to hardware (synths, samplers, etc) stuff. Because you can also hook this hardware to computers and people hacking this stuff you see that hardware producers are somehow going through troubled times. ie I know a lot of Ableton users but none of the uses push. All use (cheap) hardware launchers that were in most cases meant to be used with other software. For example NI Maschine Jam is quite popular with these users.
But to get back to the point pro audio users Apple is quite lagging behind the Win market imo. The problem at the moment is imo the form over function strategy that they use now. The problem with Macbook Air's but also the Pro's is that they can put more powerful processor in the but as long als they can't cool enough they will throttle and lack the performace they could offer.
@mannix we are agree. In fact I bought the mini again after sold a korg microarranger because I can’t afford both but I still prefer standalones and on and on
Yes dependency and how these manage it. ATM is clear iOS is where the action is but windows/macOS from we come. I’m curious about half an hour keynote and news, not excited since Apple has lost the forward thinking and wow factor but I want to believe...
Today I’m just wondering about my near future (2019) and how to get off the last 10 years hole I get stuck on. I’m getting older to depend, not only on Apple but to my family neither.
Thanks for the chat, mate.![ ](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/blush.png)
I mean look at that! a packed music theater. (this is from MacRumors live coverage of the event, starting in 10 minutes)
What if this is the day Apple decides to make iOS music mainstream?? I want to see a live performer running MIDI and audio through an iPad Pro. I mean ,if they can demo AR with some guys having a robot battle on a coffee table... why not do something amazing for music?
10 minutes to go.

OH No! plug in your headphones. This is the first keynote where the audio is not pristine. There is some weird audio interfacts, predominately in the right channel... bizarre. Its mostly audible in Tim's mic.
tested on 2 headphones on Mac and iPad. same issue
that's it, I've lost faith in Apple...
I wonder if Bluetooth headphone users are getting pristine audio?? This may be deliberate![:D :D](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/lol.png)
Need Fallon and Loopy.
this.
Scanning the audience closely for Michael's presence.
Quad Core i3? What's that?
Here we go folks
oh! they did it! new iPad pro. I was half-preparing myself to be disappointed
YASSSSS. goodbye 12.9 huge bezels. I hated you
8 Core CPU A12X Bionic 👀😳
Better graphics than Xbox One
Now that the 3.5mm jack is 'gone' from the iPad's they better introduce W2 or something with <10ms wireless lantecy...
Man this thing is gonna be super fast
Looks like it’s gonna be a beast but how can you ruin midi keyboard and headphones at the same time
there it is![ ](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
USB-C
1TB storage
Easy, take out the headphone jack and you ruin a lot!
That looks like a solid machine. Too bad about the headphone jack, but I guess that was unavoidable.
They put my fav game (2k19) on the Demo 🤦🏽♂️ How does it look even better than on PS4? Console quality video games on mobile 12.9 liquid retina....GAMECHANGER
Bad financial decisions o’comin
Camera Connection Kit dead then?![:( :(](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/frowning.png)
