guitarism is on the bus!
guitarism 2.20 just went live with Audiobus support (and AudioCopy, iTunes File Sharing etc)
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/guitarism-guitar-to-go/id409707446?mt=8
It's a strumming-based virtual acoustic guitar synth, and I've worked very hard to give it the best strumming interface and sound around. It sounds great on its own, and truly awesome through JamUp.
Let me know if any questions!

I missed this app until now. Looks like great work!
Agreed, Definitely looks great for people who don't play guitar or anyone on the go and it sounds pretty realistic. @Rhism is it just strumming? Can't finger pick those strings can I?
Well done for being the first guitar synth on the bus! I'll be buying this for sure. Are you planning an iPad native version? I'll just use in 2x for now, obvs!
@Ryan. Theres is an in-app purchase that allows you to seperate the strings wider for picking purposes. Cant remember name of addon off hand but it was .99 cents.
Yep. You can finger pick without the IAP, but what it does is stretch the distance between the strings out when the app reads you picking, and the strings then snap back to the standard configuration when the app reads you strumming.
This sounds very nice through Jam Up.
Sounds very nice stand alone actually. Best acoustic guitar app I've tried. First one I could actually do decent fingerpicking on. Nice work!
Thanks everyone. Sold! :-)
Thanks for the kind words guys! Michael, yes iPad version is part of the plan...
@Rhism Pretty cool. Any plans on adding more sounds? An electric guitar maybe? How about using as a midi controller is that possible/on your list?
Yes. I would love to use my midi guitar to trigger sounds. Really nice app.
Yes on more sounds, and yes on midi support! It all takes time, so just a matter of deciding what to do first
More sounds first please.
@Rhism That's awesome. I know this stuff can take a long time. Good to hear you plan to keep improving it. Thank you.
Also I just noticed that if you side your finger in the chord section as oppossed to tapping the chord it plays some string noises. That's genius! :-)
I can't believe I downloaded this app and forgot. Never even tried it until someone mentioned in this post. Unbelievable.
I just buy. It's a great app.I like the way to play.I've good feeling when playing.
Please give me more sound like 12 strings.
I just bought it ,and I have to say it sounds great.
Only problem i am having is that it shows up upside down in my alesis Idock ;-(
Tried to mail to [email protected] but the mails keep coming back due to no server response.
I thought I would let the developper know since he seems to come here as well.
Once again Great app.
Correction its dislexya all over again, it seems i was mailing [email protected] mistake ,instead of @rhism
Cheers
Hi @Frank , You will probably have to wait till @Rhism gets an iPad version on the go. Also this isn't the kind of app you play in a dock, IMO, so I see why the orientation is fixed. Kinda of need to have on your lap, or like a guitar. :-)
@Rhism—I'm happy to find out an iPad version will be available at some point. Can I get on a mailing list to be alerted when it gets released to the app store? I really can't recommend Guitarism enough. I've test driven 47 billion, six hundred thousand point five three guitar simulation apps, and none of them come close when it comes to realistic response. None of the others sound real, but Guitarism actually does. The rest don't react as solidly and consitantly to touches, either. I almost skipped Guitarism because the lack of price tag and flaming strings had me dismissing it as probably being a crapapp. I'm really glad I didn't pass it up, because it is perfect for working on songs when my real guitars aren't handy.
Thanks again for the kind words guys! I am completely obsessed with responsiveness and sound quality, glad to see that others feel the same way!
Re: iPad support, still haven't decided if I'm going to make the current app universal or do a separate iPad version - I prefer just having one universal app but it will depend on how different the iPad version becomes from the current app. If I do end up making a separate iPad version, I'll definitely throw in a news update into the current version to let users know, so either way you'll know about it if you have the current app.
Re: orientation, there is actually an option in the Settings app, if you scroll down and select guitarism, that lets you flip the orientation from Home Button Right to Left. I've been getting a lot of questions about this lately so will probably move that setting into the app itself on the next update.
Re: lack of price tag, what would you suggest I price the app at?
I would say keep price low. $5 dollars. Add midi, and in-app purchases for more sounds. I think that would be reasonable. I don't think anyone would complain about in- app purchase for more sounds.
Thanks for the thoughts, will try a few options In general, any new features I add at this point (midi, sounds etc) will most likely be in-app purchase. I prefer to keep the base app cheaper and then charge for things like midi, sounds etc rather than have a $20 app.
Sounds good. I'm sure you'll have no problem selling a good product with potential to be great. I am a keyboardist, so this is very beneficial to me. One suggestion might be to add chord notes on frets or chord diagram for the unlearned guitarist like me.
Yeah I've been thinking about how to allow something like that without adding clutter. Would you use it to actually learn guitar, or to know what notes you're playing?
I would use it mainly for learning chords. I do see the challenge of adding that without clutter. If I come up with some suggestions I'll post it here, or maybe someone else may have some ideas. It would be a good way to learn chords. I'm thinking a small diagram in each chord box may work.
What if each string had the note just above or below it? Is that what you mean @mgmg4871? thus Em would be low to high EBEGBE? I play guitar and know my chords and still would find that useful. If you just want to know how to play the chords on a real guitar there are plenty of charts online to use. ;-)
My real hope is that Rhism would also add midi support. I have a midi guitar that I would love to use for composition, and learning chords. The sound of Guitarism would definitely keep me interested. This is why I (selfishly) would rather have chord diagrams. Maybe Rhism could implement both, and we both would have our (selfish) desires fulfilled. Lol. I am interested in knowing the benefit of having the notes above the string.
@mgmg4871 Well I know @Rhism plans on adding midi at some point. So that would be possible for sure.
I'd just like to see notes by the strings for the sake of knowing them, for reference, it's by no means important..
One feature I'd like to see is a finger pickers addon.. It would have to be the wide string stance from the smart strings feature but fixed.. The string area should be multi touch so you can pluck chords finger picking style. That would rock. :-)
@Ryan I already can do finger picking on guitarism.
@PaulB So can I but you can't do chords that way (it only senses one touch at a time over the strings, pinch chords just don't work) and it'd be nice if the strings were further apart and stayed that way.. On the iPhone 4S it is pretty tight on my big hands. :-)
