This is so UNintersting :-P
@rhism sorry I missed your question. Can I be greedy and say both two and three are excellent ideas?
If there's a loop recorded, AB panel loops it. If not, it plays the default chord. Are loops stored with the song?
Also including the [next] button to move to the next chord in the stack would rule though for when you don't have a loop recorded or want to concentrate on a particular chord.
@PieterrVos for someone who doesn't like the majority of the conversation on this forum, you sure do spend a lot of time here
@syrupcore For the looping I'd ideally want it to be a "zero UI" mechanism whereby it basically treats the last "thing" you played as the loop. So that'd mean no need to do "new loop" "start recording" then play and then "stop recording" and then go to the fx app to trigger it. Just play something and then go to the fx app. Not quite sure how I'll decide what the start/end of the loop is, but that's my ideal workflow for making this happen. Or as close to that as possible.
Wrt doing both loop-based and with the fallback to chords (with next button) if a loop isn't set, I'm not able to think of a UI that manages to accommodate both of these without seeming very incongruous. Open to suggestions!
Though, if the loop thing does end up being purely zero-UI then there would always be "some" loop there...
@rhism If there's always "some" loop then the extra button makes no sense.
I was thinking the AB Panel UI would be:
[Switch to app]
[Play/Stop] // chord or loop
[Next Chord] // ala fast forward button
By the way, @Rhism, how are things coming with the IAP for Guitarism? I think the beta expires in December (and I wouldn't mind upgrading to the complete version (($$$)). :-)
@syrupcore Yeah the main issue with that UI would be that the "next" button wouldn't do anything in loop mode which would create user confusion. And taking it away would create confusion too ("where's the next button omg!?!?") But yeah if there's always some loop I can do away with it, otherwise will figure something out.
@Audiojunkie Actually your feedback is the reason it's delayed Not literally but you were absolutely right wrt your comments on the electric guitar sound. After much hacking and several experiments I concluded that the "right" thing to do is a much harder thing, and there's no point in going halfway so ... the update will be done when that harder thing is done! I'm getting major help with this though so hopefully in the next month or so. Btw I had no idea betas expire... I should be able to have a new build for you before then.
Sorry to be so cryptic but all will be revealed soon. Rest assured that there's a ton of work going into doing electric guitar strumming "right", which turns out to be a lot harder than I'd hoped. Which is why I asked the question: which apps have the best-sounding electric guitar strumming?
@Rhism Fair enough! :-) The right way is the best way! :-)
@Audiojunkie I don't know that it's the "best" way I don't think most other apps are doing this, yet people seem to like their electric sounds. Which means I'm probably doing way more than I should. But it remains to be seen.
And here we go...
...and you are gonna LOVE it!!! :-)
And thanks to @Audiojunkie for beta-testing and helping make it love-worthy I haven't had much of a beta setup in the past but he had been wanting to use the new sounds in a project, and his feedback was invaluable! I'll share more details later.
@syrupcore Your're going to be very happy with the new "Play" button in this release I'll probably make a video for how it works, it's a bit convoluted to describe in words but totally obvious when you see it. Essentially "Zero-UI Looping"
The core of the new update is an IAP for new guitar sounds - as promised on this forum many moons ago. So guitarism is finally going electric! Here's what the electric guitar looks like:
Not to be outdone by his plugged-in colleague is this bad boy here... I know a lot of you have been looking forward to a 12-string acoustic in guitarism, and I hope it lives up to everyone's expectations!
But that is not all - oh no, that is not all! The trio is completed by this one. Most of us haven't probably played a real 12-string electric in a long while (or ever)... it's fun to have one in your pocket
So to recap that's 3 new guitars, each with their own new skin. The skins are interchangeable with the guitars once you unlock the IAP. I personally really love the black acoustic and use it on both the 6-string and the 12-string acoustics.
And of course as before, all artwork is credit to the one and only @Ryan Hemeon. He's been busy with his new job lately, but he spent a ton of time on this update - thanks Ryan!
That's all for now folks! Maybe tomorrow I'll tell you guys the weird and wonderful story about @Audiojunkie's beta feedback and how much it changed everything...
Looks great @rhism! Can't wait to try it out. Don't think I've ever played an electric 12 string before, looking forward to giving it a go. Graphics look beautiful too @ryan.. !
ps. will there be any IAA node support?
Thanks @JamMaestro! Negatory on the IAA - I've gotten a grand total of one user request for it so far...
Always good to make it shine though, there are very few IAA node apps that work on the iPhone at present (alchemy, nlog, magellan.. think thats it?)
@Rhism Looks great.
@mgmg4871 The best part is still to come! ;-)
I didn't know anyone was beta testing. Or maybe I did and forgot. Thanks @Audiojunkie. :-) We should talk.
I'd be happy to Ryan! Good to see you on the forum! PM me here, and I'll give you my private email...or you can find me on Facebook. :-)
Alright enough goofing around with screenshots.
This is what you all want to see.
Break out the popcorn...

Truly amazing! I have no idea how you learnt how to create all those different effects and amp types but they sound flawless! You could write a Jam Up rip off after this. Took me long enough to create the basic modulation ones in my app, and getting them to the point where I was happy with their configuration was another stretch after that - where as yours sound like the real deal! Seriously impressed.
Ahh, just seen your follow up post So is it running AB/IAA ? Or is it built inside? Sounds flippin cool either way!
Very cool Adil. How many FX can run simultaneously and what's the order of the fx chain?
