Might be a silly question but if there are no audio tracks until June 2019 how do you record the audio from your project in NS2?

Do you mean the final mix of your tune? If so, the app has an internal mixdown mechanism like NS1. Can't find where Matt talked about the details at the moment.

Like a stereo audio track for final mix?

Yes. Like NS1 but with more format options. So final stereo mix or individual track stems. Whole song or a fixed range/length (to export loops or the chorus or...). Just tried to find the details Matt posted again but coming up empty.

Do you perhaps know if this mixdown audio track can be edited?

I don't but since there's no real limit on sample length, I imagine you could load the mixdown as a sample and edit there.

Ok thanks for the intel, sounds promising :-) I assumed the individual track stems would not be available until June next year?

Ok, can you explain further please. Does that mean that the stereo mix is also just a export file which can’t be edited in NS2? Cheers

NS2 will be able sample audio from external audio input of iPad, and import audio by multiple standard methods... It will contain basic audio editor (whis will be able to open and edit audio files up to 1 hour long), so obviously it will be possible to edit project audio files .. (althought i'm still not sure i understand properly what you are asking for)

there will be NO audio tracks in sequencer, in other words if you look at sequencer you will see there just notes and automations.. Audio samoles will be possible to load into sampler and trigger them by notes in sequencer

can I save all my imported samples into NS2 project file

Yes, It will be possible to save project the way that it will contain all samples used in project in one package, more about this here (second paragraph):

There is no audio 'track' of any sort. You can export stereo audio in various formats. You can export track stems and bring those exports into your DAW of choice to combine/mix/edit them.

You can import audio and trigger it from the sampler but it's not like a linear audio track in, say, Auria. That's the update that's coming at some point next year.

My DAW is ableton, I was assuming NS2 was a iOS DAW which to my understanding now it will be next June when audio tracks is introduced. My question is if I can edit the final mix within NS2, from the answers I got it’s still a little unclear but I believe the answer is not until the audio tracks are released. I will wait until it’s released and get more info then. Thanks 🙂

At launch you will be able to load your audio material into the built in sampler to edit it there. Think pulling audio file into simpler. Most basic editing options are given there as well, most likely will be available in NS2 sampler too.
As @anickt mentioned eg. for mastering this isn't the optimal. But basic editing can be achieved inside the sampler.

If there are no audio tracks, there is no track to put a stereo mix on so as to edit/master it. I would just assume you export the stereo mix (or stems if an option) and open it in a DAW that has audio tracks, which is probably a common workflow on iOS anyway.

Yes, whatever you need to edit audio and/or master a mix.

  • Strange, ableton is one of those DAWs that has no real audio editor.

Ableton live 10 has very powerful audio editing in my opinion.

  • I don't disagree. I love live for what it does best - quick workflow, but audio editing isn't its strong suit imo. Eg. afaik you still can't group/lock audio on several tracks to edit them together. Critical when editing multi miced recordings.

Well it seems to my understanding now that NS2 has no audio editing except via the sampler until next June so I check it out then. Thanks for the info.

  • I will be buying nanostudio2, but I am hardly as excited as some folks? It’s a nice looking synth and a drum machine with sequencing, with almost 8 months until audio tracks...so....ummm yea, not that exciting. I am much more excited to check out drambo and also the AU full version of synthmaster that’s coming next year. I’m sure nanostudio 2 will be an excellent app, it’s just going to be quite a while before it’s a total solution.
