Hello @Harro & @RJB, sorry to hear that, this shouldn't happen.

Could you please share your setup details Device model/make & iOS version so we can replicate and correct?
Fastest way is to send us an email at [email protected]

No request/feedback is being ignored and after our upcoming major update for Playebat, which will be published in a couple of weeks, we are going to iron out any small bugs on Riffer as well as introduce a couple of more features as new updates roll.

Thanks for your patience and trust,
    Stay safe!

  • @TheVimFuego @monzopro @lukesleepwalker @gusgranite Gentlemen, may I be so bold, do you still riff?

Good to hear and really looking forward to this new Playebat! (Just teasing, but AM looking forward to the Playbeat update :))

I haven’t done much music on the iPad recently, but if I’m going to get a sequence going I’ll either use Riffer or Bassline.

It’s had a lot of use from me, so I’d definitely recommend it.

I still riff. One of my essential tools to get a groove going.

  • @JohnnyGoodyear
    I still riff.
This app is way better now than when first released. Added very cool controls and parameters, and it feels more solid and slick UI wise.

About the only thing that I don’t like is the teeny, tiny typeface. I keep a real magnifying glass nearby for when I am using this. 🤓

  • Thank you Gentlemen. A very positive consensus.

Agreed - way too tiny font!

It's great now you can midi trigger presets. You can save custom scales too.
Chords would be a really nice upgrade. :)

I am a relative n00b, but chords are the only thing I can see that are missing from this very good variant.

Yep, hope they add that, but it's still useful for jamming even without it.

I may be doing something wrong, but what I expected about CCs is not happening. I’m sending CC14 directly to Riffer (verified using MIDI monitor), which in setup is assigned to the Global Dice. I expected to see the pattern change, but it didn’t happen. Anyone else have experience sending CCs to Riffer? Is there another setting necessary to get it to work?

Ok, I discovered that even though the global dice is a “trigger” event, the app is requiring that the CC14 value sent is “high” (127 worked).

Agree. Patterns triggering is awesome. If polyfoni is added I wouldn’t need another sequenzer app. It would be really nice to be able to record in realtime but that is not the concept of the app i guess 😊

What about using one instance per chord note? 😋

Edit: Works great! And being able to only randomize one of the chord notes looks like an advantage.

That’s why they called it Riffer, Boss :)

The reason I use it more than other options - Steppolyarp for example - is that it tends to produce more musical sounding randomisations than other apps, so more usable content.

Saying that I haven’t used it since the last update, and I seem to remember someone saying it had affected that, so don’t take that as fact.

I made the last point and have now disproven my own theory. The app simply had a bad day. Law of averages and whatnot.

  • Just reported a bug in Riffer, for me whenever I delete a custom scale it causes a large cpu spike in AUM and I need to reload the session.

@Audiomodern A list of scales is certainly great for all the musicians that want to live with them but wouldn't it be possible to have a one-octave keyboard on screen on which I could simply toggle keys?
The scales, although this many, often include one note too many or too few and having to choose different scales while experimenting is unnecessarily time-consuming IMHO.
This would be even more relevant when using multiple Riffer instances to create chords.

Oscilab has such a 1-octave keyboard and it's still the most fun, fastest and flexible way of defining a scale.

    Thank you for considering!

Interesting, an algorithm perhaps more predicated to musical success somehow....a valuable business. I will say I took some very basic shots with it yesterday and found things I liked and that with a bit of tweaking were actually what I wanted. I have to be careful that I don't fall for that dogs talking thing (Not what they're saying, but that they're doing it at all etc...).

  • Really awesome update

  • It's a cool update :)

Wonder if it can be 'tamed' to do random in-key chords?

  • Looks really nice.. now.. hopefully timing issues are fixed.. Nice..

  • The 'Density'(Ratchet) feature is the absolute killer feature of the new update!

  • This is great now! Musical and actually usable. Thanks @Audiomodern!

  • This is now also very good as basic 'step sequencer' with the random features as a BIG 'bonus' :D

  • WOOOOAAHHHH! This is something like Riffer with 4 playheads! This definitely adds something to the table!
Thank you Audiomodern for another update! Wow

  • This is like Fugue Machine 3.0. Can't wait to try this later.

  • I think a video is due to explain these new features... MIDi input/Performance Mode? Don't have a clue... Timing issues seem to be fixed... Thanks..
