Thanks for sharing that.. Refreshed my mind and covered the new features perfectly. A must- watch for all Riffers..
Thanks for the update @Audiomodern.. Riffer + Playbeat are great musical randomizers..

Ok, something is seriously screwed up with the latest release. None of my projects in AUM are able to load Riffer. AUM says that the app is missing!
I can however reload it if I remove it first but then I loose all settings.
@Audiomodern
I saved a few presets, but is it possible that the current loop plays till the end before the new chosen preset is played? Or do I oversee something?
AUM presets saved with the old version are looking for ‘Audiomodern : Riffer’.
The new version is just ‘Riffer’.
AUM needs the new version to be loaded in place of the old version and the AUM preset saved again.
This also means that saved states for the old version won’t be loaded in the new version
Too bad I didn't save any presets then...
Not very smart change from the developer imho...
I wouldn’t be so harsh...developers are human also and anyone can make an inadvertent ommision or mistake. Just take it in stride and make the best of it.❤️😌😇😳
i would love to see a polyphonic version someday!
Well, I worked as a software developer for twenty years and if I screwed up so my user got unwanted problems I had to fix the software so it worked as expected again...just saying...
Got this in the mail from Audiomodern:
"Please note that this version is re-built from scratch and the entire code is re-written
So, if you have previously saved projects with Riffer in AUM you will need to remove it and re-load it."
All I can say is: yeah, I noticed...
Yeah, they should have given a warning to save presets....it’s because it’s been corrected from being an AU instrument to now an AU midi fx
I got Riffer last night and I love it!
Though I wish it had a slider to add some arpeggio tendency (just like the shuffle slider).
Anyway, I hope the developer is watching this thread for I found a minor bug.
[ update: Seems that Riffer locks up in AudioBus v3.4.15 as well ]
Hello people,
We have just published Riffer version 2.2 which introduces Export/Save/Share MIDI file, Control Quick Load Presets through MIDI and a few more improvements regarding custom scales.
Also, in the light of recent events, stay safe and look after yourselves.
Awesome ;-) stay safe
@Audiomodern , cheers for this, any fix in the pipeline for Playbeat ?
Really soon
Cheers on the update and the other one coming soon...
Any fix for the midi sync issues at 44khz ?
Thank you
@AudioModern, the pattern switching would be so much easier with note control instead of having to deal with cc numbers.
Any tips how to use the switching in cubasis/GarageBand/aum without a midi controller ?
Where can I find the new functions?
Are there any tutorials?
The new functions are in the 2 menus accessed in the upper right corner.
In the Preset menu, at the very bottom, is an option to Save Midi File. Once saved, you can do the usual iOS Share business.
The Midi Preset switching is found in the Settings menu. In that menu, there are all of the Midi Mapped controls. Scroll down to the bottom to find Presets 1-16, and assign controls to switch them.
Hi @Audiomodern ,
I hope you and yours are keeping well, I think I've spotted a bug.
Your octaves seem to be out by one, to play C5 I need to select C4.
May also be user error!
Cheers.
Unfortunately there's no real standard that defines note names vs. MIDI note numbers.
The MIDI standard specifies number 60 as "Middle C" but there is no universal agreement if that is C2, C3, C4 or even C5.
Thanks, I've learned something new! I withdraw my bug report.
The sync issue also occurs at 48khz, Cubasis 2, iPad Air 3.
I might Have found a bug. If I have two copies of Riffer running in AUM, changing the number of steps, quantize, or number of notes in the sequence will change those parameters in the other Riffer. Anybody else experiencing this?
Yup. The below was posted in December, but the dev must have missed it.
Ok then, Houston we have problem. Thanks for letting me know, hope @Audiomodern can remedy the problem.
I mentioned this bug via email to the dev (Audiomodern) in december and the 'leaking'-bug of the Root Note-parameter to other Riffer-instances was fixed in the latest update (v. 2.2), but the other problematic parameters were not! I mentioned that again, but got no answer....
