@analog_matt How comes the description says it has 1GB samples, but on my iPad the app is only 134MB? Am I missing some samples?

    Compression is the key ;)

    Blimey, that’s some serious compression!!

I was just programming a sound using the synth voices rather than PCM, with per voice filters enabled, and could not get anything from the LFOs modulating the filter cutoffs - is this a bug?

Hi Phil, this is a great question! The per-voice filters are independent from the main 2 per-Layer Filters. Currently the LFOs have destinations for the per-layer filters. I'll add it to the list for future updates to be able to modulate the independent per-voice harmonic filter envelopes as well.

Thank you. I know this may increase the pricessing overhead, but as the Layer filters modulate the whole signal, it would be great if the lfos on the per-voice filters could be independent per voice, that would add to the richness. Also I don’t know if you saw my earlier suggestion if adding delay time as a potential destination for one of the lfos?

  • Another request for filter tracking amount option. Thanks.

  • Loving the sounds on D1 and the speed of the updates for fixes. However, I think D1 may be inspired a little too much by the D10/D50 as I have noticed that when triggering the D1 in standalone (or in Cubasis as IAA) not every note I play triggers the note but it records - just no sound on playback (moving the note in the midi editor in Cubasis or even deleting a re-drawing it in the same place has no effect - that note is still silent!. I have this issue with my D10 but no other synth (as far as I know) and I think it is due in the case of the D10 to a constant stream of midi events being sent out (mainly TR Clock and Active Sensing events).

On the D10 I am using the D10 to control midi in synth apps but here I am using a Korg MicroKey to control D1 and some notes record but don't trigger a sound (velocity value is around the same as other notes that do trigger but no sound on playback).

I mentioned that in another older thread https://forum.audiob.us/discussion/27837/ancient-midi-conundrum and still not found a solution so I thought D1 may be a good alternative.

Stickers both real and awesome. Suspect you are unreachable as regards civilized world. Good luck.

We're working on this right now as I type this.... We must be on the same wavelength!

Er. Are you accusing AudioKit of pulling a stickers scam on you? Like sticky stickers?

No, you can’t be. Sorry, I completely misread your post.

Sticky stickers and wet t-shirts, the organisation is clearly populated by rabid dope fiends.

  • Thank you so much for the update for older iPads. I purchased on day one with my fingers crossed my iPad 4 could handle it. The sounds I’ve tried so far sound great with little to no clipping/distortion. Performance feels more stable than the other audio kit apps with no crashes yet. Any chance Fm player and Synth one receive updates as well to optimize for us older iPad users ?

  • @analog_matt or whoever is it possible to hide the keyboard and show more of the parameters?

    No

It's kind of tricky to do it like Synth One. Though, maybe I could do it on a couple of the panels.

For example, I'm thinking for the layer panel: perhaps it could be expanded to show all the envelopes at once.
And, expanding the LFO panel would allow us to add more destinations. :)

Yes to more destinations - more the merrier :)

  • Can’t have too many destinations!

    Absolutely!

We plan on updating Synth One & FM Player with Buffer Settings and some of the other improvements. Those upgrades should be available in the app store with-in the next couple of weeks.

  • I don't suppose its possible to import patches from an actual D-50?

I’m sure that is not possible, the pcm samples are different, the synth architecture is different. While D-1 was inspired by synths like the D-50 (and others of that era), it is its own thing.

  • Question for folks:

Not without a lawsuit from Roland. 😂

  • How about building in the K1 waveforms from Kawai, they allow them to be used if you contact them, as per this link.
    http://www.chvad.com/kawai-k1-samples/
    Or better still a 4 layer K1 next :)

We've greatly improved the MIDI input in the latest update (0.9.6)

    Maybe this will help?

  • Excellent! Thanks very much! YAY!

That's a great idea. Thank you. I'll try to contact Kawai.
I suspect they won't be too keen on us putting their waveforms in a paid app. But, maybe they will be okay with them in FM Player, as it is free. Worth a try! :)

  • Kickstarter for a free K1 emulation = Winner.

Great news! Thanks to all who are working on these superfast updates.

  • Please add microtuning. Since Synth One it belongs to any app :)

The latest updates fixed my issues even better than I was expecting. The previously silent midi notes now sound without me having to re-record anything! thank you!

Really great to hear! This is thanks to @aure.

He has completely re-engineered the way AudioKit apps handle MIDI. AudioKit just keeps getting better and better. Much thanks to the feedback and suggestions from the folks here in this forum.

The next update (which should be live tomorrow) will improve the way mono MIDI is handled.
Plus, features the option of a cleaner oscillator algorithm. And, improves the existing ones. It's really nice.
