The chord layout already shows the scale and root selector on the main screen, for the others I need to figure out how to fit them in there but that'll definitely be added with the next update.
As for stopping to send MIDI, thats new, did that happen randomly or while/after switching between apps? Any thing helps.
@ka010 Did you get my two emails with bug-reports send to [email protected] ? Just asking while you are here, since you didn‘t reply this time 😀
Oh cool Ill have a quick look at the chord page, it would be very useful on the scale page too.
I was pressing - on the octaves, thats when it first happened.
so far AUM seems more stable but I am out of time to experiment further today.
Great update - one request I have would be to have the octave up/down buttons available in the drum layout. This would really help with the issue of MIDI mapping, some apps have the drums on different octaves than others because there's no standard.
cool, thanks for sharing!
I guess I did, still behind on email tho. What should I be looking for?
Noted.
@ka010 The email send wednesday 20:56 and 21:35, subjects were „KB-1 Update“ and „Gleich nochwas“ .
After systematically testing around with the update for about an hour, I reported several small bugs or „mis-features“ which were not yet mentioned here. For the next release better invite me to testflight 😀
Ah yes, I've seen those. Will do! :)

I have just downloaded the iPhone version and whoa ok, I get you!
hmm I don’t really know the answer, perhaps MIDI assignable stuff like the + and - for octave and root to be pressed with something like the blueboard foot controller... im thinking out loud here.
But yes im very impressed, may have to check out RE-1 and Volt soon now.
Thank you good sir.
How do I slide the top row over to go up an octave ? I'd like the top row to start at C4, I don't need the C3 octave to be present twice
See image above in my post... It takes a second to load for some reason, but I can't figure out how to move one row up an octave while leaving the other where it is
Yes, working out a UI that works across all those different screen sizes really take up a large chunk of time these days. Making the controls MIDI mappable might actually be a good idea tho!
I'm afraid that is still fixed, next update will add an option to freely set the interval between rows.
Had to add another toolbar but I think this works quite well. Added per-keyboard presets as well.
I like it! It’s still really minimalist. Thanks for the updates!
Im so pleased! Im in total love with this thing so i look forward to the update!
anyone have any luck with the CC module?
I had trouble both getting the numbers to reflect on screen and also could not send CC messages ( other than the default numbers)
e.g changing cc15 to CC74
Device used - Iphone 8plus
also questions
1. why does the Omni option not work while sending midi out?
i need to specify channel number for it to work
I believe that Midi OMNI mode is something that only applies to receiving devices/apps and means listen to all midi channels. That is how MIDI works. There isn't an OMNI channel. So a transmitting devices can't send Omni information.
Pleased to hear that, thank you! :)
Update is coming along nicely should be out shortly.
With the mappings you can change both, the CC# using the selector on the right, and the label by tapping the orange box on the left. What's displayed below the knobs is the label, not the actual CC# so my guess would be you changed the CC but not the label?
The use of OMNI here is a bit misleading and will be changed in the next release. Essentially, when set to OMNI, the keyboard will decide which channel to use which for MPE is all 16 channels. Changing it from OMNI to something else will limit output to that specific channel.
So, when playing an MPE synth, you'd leave it in OMNI mode, when playing a non-MPE synth, you change it to a specific channel.
"So, when playing an MPE synth, you'd leave it in OMNI mode, when playing a non-MPE synth, you change it to a specific channel"
Thank that cleared it
I think for CC's its more an issue of inputting values, probable because of small crammed surface
There are a number of bugs I fear, for example the slide cc doesnt work once AUM is reopened until you change the cc or reassign the cc number. Sometimes the velocity button also turns on invert as well. Any others I’ll mention when I spot.
The mapping UI isn't ideal but it has to work across all the different devices and screen sizes so some compromises have to be made I'm afraid. That said, I'm looking into ways to improve this in a future update.
Well that's odd. I assume you had KB-1 loaded into AUM or did you use the standalone?
Ok, question: does the KB1 chord keyboard contain all possible chords? If not, can I define my own (e.g. sus2-chords, that can't be defined in Cubasis chord pads)?
At the moment you pick a root/scale and you'll get the I-VII chords for that scale with a choice of having either triads, fifth, sixth or seven chords. In addition you can choose how multiple rows are used with options being
Future updates will add more options here like the sus chords you've mentioned.
Having completely custom scales and chord layouts is definitely something I'd like to add in future versions as well.
Ok, thanks. If you add custom/sus-chords you've got a buyer here. 😀
Finally bought this yesterday. Can't believe I waited so long! For laying on the couch with just the iPad and headphones it's essential for me.
I wouldn't mind more scales and the ability to set each pad on its own Midi channel. And an +/- offset or min/max for some of the controls would be useful for finding the sweet spot in modulation targets.
Also @ka010 when changing the Midi channel in the AU, it often crashes to a blank screen, which requires deleting KB-1 and adding it again, and redoing all its settings. Happens often in both Audiobus 3 and Beatmaker 3. iPad Mini 2, iOS 12.1.4.
Edit: It occasionally happens when changing other settings too.
@ocelot KB-1 with the new Photon AU update works a treat. Let’s you save all these chords you lay down.
Thanks @Jumpercollins all of these new AU Midi apps are opening up iOS nicely.
It's weird, 1 AU instance of KB-1 uses less than 5% CPU in AUM on an Air 1 or Mini 2, but the UI can be slow and sluggish occasionally, with nothing else loaded, nothing open in the background, Siri+Notifications+Fetching off, etc.
Loving this app. Just a couple of things it would be nice if we could label CC controls. When you produce more than a half dozen it becomes hard to remeber what they control, plus if possible to link CC controls so that one becomes a master and would move another or more.
Inside AUM learn for a CC does not appear to work. Is a learn feature possible?
Mant thanks.
@Metalman Renaming of the CC knobs is already supported. In the settings for the CC mode, where one can select the CC number used for each knob, pressing on the orange, rectangular label on the left side brings up the keyboard allowing the edit the name used for each knob.
