Unfortunately Garageband still doesn't support MIDI plugins or even MIDI input so the
Latest beta now supports relative slide, if you're interested in giving that a try let me know!
Thanks @ka010. There’s a lot to like about GB but the lack of better MIDI support is a serious handicap.
Big thanks for following up on relative slide! KB-1 is having good updates lately
I'm not on the beta, and a bit short of time right now. Perhaps someone on the beta could give it a try? For instance, send KB-1 to Continua and double tap the filter cutoff knob in Continua. Tap plus, pick CC74, increase amount to max, and see how it goes when KB-1 has Slide turned on (changing relative vs absolute setting). Try with low and high velocity key taps + slide in KB-1.
KB-1 looks great for us non keyboard players. What would be really nice is if you could have the scale notes shown on the standard keyboard view also!
@ka010 I think I've bumped into a repeatable bug in KB-1...
...just want to check with others here too.
When using KB-1 as Stand-Alone or AUv3 in 'scale' mode setting the scale to 'chromatic' using the pop-up menu crashes the AUv3/App.
I think the solution here is to 'remove' the Chromatic option from the available scales when using scale node.
Cheers!
I can reproduce, the Chromatic option isn't supposed to be there actually, should be an easy fix. Thanks!
I did look into this but unfortunately it's not an easy thing to add. It's on my list for future updates though!
@ka010
So glad with the latest updates.
Would be cool to have a view option for only keys of the stacked ones.
When I add keyboards the panels between minimize the keyboard area to an unusable size.
I add the Thumbjam app view as a reference.
hey there, thanks for the input, working on something like that!
@ka010 Did you receive my bug-reports for KB-1 ?
yeah, they did, sorry about that, been having a lot on my plate lately... you'll get a proper reply soon!
Fantastic! So kind of you being attentive.
In addition an indication of what octave is selected on the up down button would be very indicatIve
Is it logical to have the octave setting saved on the state save?
Just bought this a few days ago, basically because it was this dev and I have all his other apps lol. I do actually check if there's still activity on the updates so that was another part of the purchase decision. Really appreciate the work on this.
@ka010 Just noticed when setting the drum pads, that the display on octaves per row reads as OCAVES
Hi there! I am completely new to KB-1, just had the app for a week. Anyway, I went through this thread, yet, did not see anything related to synching up presets between devices. Thus, curious as to where the KB-1 presets are stored (in either iPad or iPhone) to then synch via Dropbox. I do not see and Export when writing/storing, only requests a file name then you can bring it back in to your setup. I did notice an Import though. Any insights would be appreciated! Thank you!
Took a bit, but I found it. You can export presets for keyboard layouts (not whole sessions). Hit Browse, then Edit, and you'll see an export button where you can save the selected presets anywhere you like, including your dropbox folder through the files app dialog.
Surprisingly, you can't just send them by airdrop.
Wow, what a quick & great response. Just tries it out and was able to save 1 preset from my iPad then was able to load it on my iPhone. It was interesting that during the export segment it allowed me to select more than 1 file, yet, that portion did not work. Retried, found out it was "user error", needed 1 more selection for dropbox save all.
Anyway, thank you so much for finding this out. Now, hoping to debug more to figure additional "user barriers" out.
.
👍🏼 I was glad to find it too. I think I'll contact the developer to see if adding import from air-drop is something he'd be interested in adding.
I had actually sent an email via the contact box on the site, yet, have not heard back. If you've connected before, you'll have a lot more luck I am sure.
.
It would be great if they can have the option to synchronize the files, not only be able to export (every time you update).
.
That would probably be done by adding iCloud support.
I cannot find a way to control my KB-1 with my midi controller. Yeah, I know, it's weird, but I have my reasons.
I think I found a bug.
In Scale mode, setting the scale to Chromatic crash KB-1
I'm guessing this is a joke? There is no setting for Chromatic scale in KB-1.
[edit] nvm, I was trying on iPhone, which doesn't have the pop-up picker. On iPad, this is indeed the case. It doesn't crash for me the first time I set it, but if I then tap Chromatic again it crashes the app.
@ka010?
The crash only happens when going from Major to Chromatic, if I go first to Dorian and then to Chromatic, it doesn't happen 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
Also, when choosing root note, switching backwards from C crashes KB-1.
Anyone able to reproduce this? I've just sent a report.
Ohh, I just read the edited comment
Are there any tricks to getting KB-1 working in standalone mode? I can get Tonality, for example, sending chords to Model D, but no dice with KB-1. I've tried setting midi out to regular mode, and it shows up as a midi input in Model D.
Just set Model D as the target from KB-1. I just tried it and it worked fine for me. If you choose Model D as the target, you don't have to configure anything in Model D. Make sure Model D is set to Omni mode or is listening on same channel as KB-1 is sending.
Thanks, that's what I'm doing. It worked once or twice when I tried again, but it's pretty random as to when it will work and which apps it will see. There's clearly issues with IOS15. Other apps will always see it as a midi source, but it won't always see other apps as a midi destination. Then if it does see them, it doesn't always work when connected. I think I'll try for a refund and maybe give it a go at another time. @ka010
