Are there any tricks to getting KB-1 working in standalone mode? I can get Tonality, for example, sending chords to Model D, but no dice with KB-1. I've tried setting midi out to regular mode, and it shows up as a midi input in Model D.

Just set Model D as the target from KB-1. I just tried it and it worked fine for me. If you choose Model D as the target, you don't have to configure anything in Model D. Make sure Model D is set to Omni mode or is listening on same channel as KB-1 is sending.

You need to turn on background audio if you’re using Model D in standalone as well. I don’t think it defaults to on.

Cheers, yep it's turned on. It worked once or twice, but it mostly doesn't work. Clearly some new bugs on latest iOS.

Haven't heard of any issues with iOS15 but I'll take a look later today.

Can you post screen shots of your setup? Maybe something will jump out?

  • Somehow just learning about this app now. Does this app work in NS2? I'm guessing the answer is no as I don't think NS2 works with MIDI plugins, correct?

You can use it but it won't do you much good because you can't record the midi output from it unless you jump through hoops. You can use the standalone sending midi to NS2, but then you have to switch between apps.

MidiFX "work" in NS2 for playing instruments. But NS2 doesn't record the midi output to the timeline.

Normally I would but given it will work once then not work the next time with the same settings it's probably not helpful here. But thanks :-)

Do you have the problem after a hard reset of your device?

Yep tried that. Exists after updating to 15.1 too. I can't find any pattern to the failure.

Spent some time testing this on 15.1 but so far wasn't able to reproduce the issue. Have you tried other synths as well? Does it happen there too?

All of his apps have a tiny font. I’ve asked him to increase the font in his synth app. Hopefully he will do this for us old (and blind) folk.

    AMEN!

Oddly it seemed better in 15.1 but will still fail maybe one out of ten times to connect to the synth. I've put all the time into testing that I can at this stage and have refunded. Let me know if you find the problem though and I'll give it another try. Cheers.

  • How do you import and export drum mappings?
I created a map for DigiStix and want to use it on my other iPad. I can’t find any info on this.
Are drum mappings available on line?

    Hello @ka010
Same here. I can export mappings, but I'm not able to import them (from the menu browse): I can see my presets (with the extension .mapping) but I can't import the presets .mapping, seems that it is not recognized (The import of .aupreset works)

    Am I doing something wrong?

  • The KB-1 DRUM Preset allows a mapping "Import" from file. Does anyone know the format of that mapping? My usual Reaper note name mapping format (text file) doesn't seem to work. Are there standard mapping formats?

No standard mapping format I know of. You can export a mapping by tapping on its name (next to Panic), select Edit, then Export. The exported file contains binary data, so cannot be edited. Presumably the Import file format is the same as the Export file. So, no way to create a file manually. You could create the mapping in KB-1, then Export it for future use.

  • This cant be mapped to Koalas 64 pads.

and were mapping because Drambo has a missing pad.

Like Koala. Remapping and saving configuration isnt on a preset basis.

You cant make different saves of these settings and need x 2 saves to get 64 buttons.

You have to remap because theres a duplicate note throughout all apps different layouts.

C3 for example. There will be x 2 C3 on the same grid.

Might have to buy another auv3 grid thing app.

  • It must be because it also has to be a standard keyboard.

The missing block in drambo actually triggers or is linked to bottom left pad. C3 for example.

Is there a grid pad app that has a different note per pad. Auv3. 64 pad. Will settle for 32, if pads can be remapped.

Yo maybe Xequence au pads would work for you

    Thanks.

    What about beatpads?

    May as well get mpe.

but need a 64 grid I guess more than mpe.

    bought xequence as its AU.

Yeah, a trade off. Beat Pads looks cool. That Xequence bundle is def a good value though even without mpe

Seconded. All their apps are great including Xequence.

  • Is there any way to have the top row start at C3 in this layout?

  • You want only to change the upper row and leave the bottom row starting with C1?

    Sorry, no.

  • Has anyone had any issues with the repeat function syncing to the clock? whenever I choose a subdivision, it drifts out of sync very quickly, 1/8T isn't even playing in sync. I can't seem to find a setting for it to follow a clock. Ideally, I would like to change the subdivisions and it lock in regardless of when I choose a subdivision. At the moment I am selecting a sub and having to press it in time for it to stick to tempo. Choosing anything in triplets throws it off instantly.

Running KB1 in AUM with Ableton link with Ableton live on PC as clock. I am trying to send midi from KB1 to Ableton live with pinpoint accuracy but it's just not having it. Any help would be much appreciated.

I just did a quickie test with kb-1 in AUM without link and I didn’t find drift BUT I found that sometimes a key press seems to result in the arpeggiator playing immediately rather than quantizing that note and from then on will be off till I release all keys. It is sporadic for me.

  • Does it have a hold function? Just can’t find it..
