  • Xequence managed to bring some people who migrated to full-on AUM back to AB+AUM. Now it's bringing back some BM2 love
This is a miracle worker indeed

Yep, I'm still waiting for the cheque from Intua 😉

  • Hi,
Has anyone had success with midi file export? I haven't tried today but tried yesterday and no joy. I go to projects, select export midi, I name the file...then I get a message saying ...internal error.
I tried also with reset iPad.,,just x2...... Even copied the clips to clipboard and then pasted in new x2 project. Still ends in a crash after naming midi file.
Hope I'm not doing something stupid here:-)
    Thanks in advance.

  • @SevenSystems any chance of allowing duplicate notes in drum maps? I'd like to set up a layout for finger drumming similar to this:

I can do it with other controller apps, but it would be a much smoother workflow if I could stay within Xequence.

Hi, we found a bug in MIDI file export today that would occur when you export clips that have controller data for non-assigned controller slots (you can check that by opening a clip and tapping on "DATA TYPE" in the bottom left: if any of the entries there says "Unknown / Deleted", the MIDI export will fail. You can remedy this by assigning any controller in the corresponding slot for the instrument on the Instruments (MIDI Icon in the top left) screen.

A fix has already been uploaded to Apple and should be available this week.

    Sorry for the inconvenience!

We have had this request a couple of times, but it's not very straightforward to do unfortunately. I hope to tackle this at some point though!

  • Hi,
No apologies needed! Record setting support!
    Thank you SevenSystems!

  • I reinstalled BM2 on my iPhone and it makes a lot more sense now but for the life of me, I can’t figure out how to delete a track any track and how to even add samples to the timeline. Almost deleted it again; but will try again.

If I recall right, the options you want are in the plus button beneath the track name

  • Yeah I keep clicking that and just adds more tracks🤓😲

Maybe it just wants to motivate you to make a very good song this time! ;)

  • Yeah really🎸🤪

But I was blown away that it does time stretching!

I imported a sampled loop for electric guitar from Sampetank 2 which I recorded at 120 bpm and it time stretched it to 110 perfectly with no issues. Only thing is I cant figure out how to drop that into the timeline.🤯

****I use beathawk. Then I can load it up with all kinds of my samples and trigger them from X2. @audio_DT

Can anyone tell me how to trigger a sample in AUM from x2? I want to trigger a one-shot sample to play every 8 bars but am stumped at the moment. Any help greatly appreciated - I fear I’m being a bit of a numpty, but that’s fine 🤗

    @audio_DT
    Got this answered?

    In AUM:

Load your sample in the Sample-Player, assign any note/channel combination you want to the „Playback“ through MIDI-mapping

    In Xequence/X2:

Assign your MIDI channel to the channel you did set for the playback-action in AUM.
Make your 8-bar loop and play the note you entered.
In my example it is a C4 on Channel 4.

You have to position a Note on the beginning (assuming you want to play the sample at the beginning of the MIDI Loop) and one at the end - to re-arm the player. If you forget the last note you will hear your sample every 2nd run of the loop.

    Got it? Need more?

Btw, AUM’s own time stretching is also excellent. I had recorded a rhythm guitar part at 98 bpm and inadvertently dropped a copy into AUM when it was set to 110 or 120 and didn’t even realize what had happened it sounded so good.

  • Wow this is amazing! Like a DAW basically!

  • @Tones4Christ
Yup, right. We had a thread lately where this setup was called kinda like (semi) modular.

  • You might need to set this also in AUM
Have not tried if it works without.

  • So I guess one just has to rename each track in AUM to remember what’s triggering what in AUM.

  • Yup 🧐
Fancy names do not conflict with laid back functionality 😁

  • With most recent update, Audiobus can only send 8 midi tracks not 16 to Xequence? Confused about this, aren't there 16 channels in midi per app/decide? How do I send more than 8 tracks from Audiobus to Xequence?

The number of available Audiobus MIDI inputs was always 8, the fact that the Audiobus MIDI In selector showed buttons from 1 - 16 was an error, which was corrected in the recent update.

We figured that nobody would ever need more than 8 simultaneous inputs when multitrack recording... could you maybe briefly describe your situation, I wonder if 16 are really needed...?

Sir, you are an absolute legend. I’m just eating my dinner, and then I will try this. Massive thanks!

  • @audio_DT
Don’t forget my later added screenshot - maybe it is needed to route AUM Input to MIDI-Control.
I am sure you‘ll do it - worked flawlessly here.
In case of problems just hit me up and we exchange a complete AUM session if needed.

  • Thanks @MrBlaschke ! Helps me put off buying Audiolayer for a couple of years or so

    Yes, how so?
AudioLayer is beautiful for own instruments and sample based stuff.
I quite don’t see how this is related. Setting up what you can do with AudioLayer only with AUM Sample-Players seems very uncomfortable and way more complicated to handle.

Just tried this and it works a treat - thanks so much for your fantastic ‘how to’. Unfortunately, Pure Synth is no longer working in AUM and the track I had intended to use the sample on will now no longer load. Ah, the Wild West of iOS music-making...

You're right. I don't have a specific use case currently but will reach out with it if it makes sense. It does explain why it's different vs usual channel setup.

Was just confirming... reinstalled and reading the BM2 guide

If you click + on the track, it will open these options. Import sample is what you want. Just be sure it's an audio track and not the keyboard sampler
