Yes, me! Every half hour 😂. I’m like a kid. But, hey, slicing samples to pads is going to be a lot of fun.

If Apple will not be fast I'll directly release the other things I'm working on :D

  • Is the coming update gonna make this a sampler too?

Yes, slicing. Already can edit individual samples.

  • Hey @ElliottGarage , you’re really active here. That’s awesome!

I picked up your wave shaper a while back and wow was that a nice synth. Seeing your new drum machine I had super high hopes.

Let me start with the one feature I love the most; SNAP. What an awesome yet simple way to work with a step grid. It’s perfect for live beat making.

Okay, now the con, and I do hope you are catching this and making a change in the audio engine.

I make Psy-Core and Hard-Core type music and so my BPM is set somewhere between 186 to 220.
On all my other drumming apps I use these speeds and I have no problems with the samples. I was using a kit by Sounds of Izrael and set the BPM to only 136. I got snap, crackle, pop, over the sounds at 136 BPM!. Never had this issue with samples used in Korgs two samplers, and never an issue with Patterning 2. Everything is quite stable. Please check into this. Pulse sounds great if you are not doing anything over 120. But 120 bpm is quite boring to me.

  • @SMKArtist thanks for the feedback. I've read you review on the app store and answered there too 🙂 anyway I rewrite here too

Some kits may have higher volumes than other and they may need level adjustments in the mixer or they simply need to lower the master volume. Anyway I’m adding soft clipping on output to avoid glitches even at very loud volume . The update will be online soon Just be a little patient because apple is really slow in releasing the updates in this period (ios13 out and ipadOs is coming)

  • @fattigman @auxmux don't forget time stretching and loop sync on 4beats 🙂

Thanks @ElliottGarage for getting back to me on this. I can be pretty persistent lol. However with all the excitement of your new release and all I just didn’t want to see audio quality issues fall through the cracks.

Soft clipping on the output should do the trick. Also I was thinking timestretch should help as well, especially when taking a sample to very high speeds.

I’ll just hang tight and leave Pulse alone till the new update is out. Thanks for all of your hard work.

  • @ElliottGarage can’t wait for that update, hopefully soon? but while i’m waiting just a quick question on fills? so are they just random fills that are prebaked, or are those customizable? if they aren’t, that could be a cool feature for a future update

  • @eross fills are the same groove that you select with the 16 botton in the bottom of the screen. The difference is that when a fill reaches its end the previous groove will continue playing, just like when a real drummer do a fill to close a section.
You can also set the autofill, meaning that each 2-4-8 or 16 bars the selected fill (in yellow) will play.

sorry still trying to wrap my head around this. I understand the autofill. but what determines the pattern of the fill?
let say i have a beat playing and I hit fill number 4. and it plays a cool little tom fill pattern, can it be modified?
let’s say the original fill was 3 ,1/8 notes on a tom, followed by a 1/8 on a kick.
can i change the pattern to be ,let’s say , 2 1/8th notes on tom , and then 1/8 kick for a the pattern?
    just curious

  • each of the 16 patterns can be normal groove or fills. Simply tap on the button and you'll see the selected groove/fill in the grid view ready to be modified

  • oh wow, i can’t believe i missed that. excellent. this app just became way more interesting with possibilities. when the new update drops, my brain will probably melt lol thanks for your help > @ElliottGarage said:

  • I can see that midi mappings presets would be very handy for EG Pulse, especially when midi out is enabled, but also when recording in to the grid view. So you can quickly change to different assigned mappings without changing kits. :)

  • A little preview on the Loop Sync functionality ...

  • wow that looks great

  • Hi @ElliottGarage I’d love to see the facility to reorder drums in a kit, preferably by drag & drop. At the moment I can’t find any way to do this.

Let’s say I drag a bunch of samples in, reordering them is going to be vital to arrange the sounds as desired.

    Thanks!

  • @craftycurate that's on my TODO list ;)

    HOLY SMOKE
Seriously, back since the BM2 days I have been asking for a simple sampler. This is it.

  • @ExAsperis99 you need to enable the 'host sync' button and the use play&stop of AUM

    Ah!
That was a vestige of a note I was writing until I went in and saw the HOST SYNC button starting me in the face.
    Wasn't meant to send.

I guess ‘4 bars’ is the limit per pad, so one can import a ‘16 bar’ loop (vocals) , slice to pad, have 4 pads with 4 bar loops ‘choked’, all on one instance (with an optional 12 more pads to fill) for vocals?

Well, maybe Apple is doing an Alchemy on this app.. let’s see if DigiStix 1.04 gets release before this update..

  • @d4d0ug found the problem with Quantiloop...it will come in the next update (hopefully into this week)

I’m in ipadOS beta so can’t give you 5 stars yet. As soon as I can, I will.
