    My opinion
Please remove the tempo knob, more space then for more useful buttons

+1.. More room for live vari-repeat (looper on iSpark) etc.
Got to admit, I am a little overwhelmed.. maybe some videos can clear up some things around the sampler..
Midi out is fab... Thank you..

  • @RajahP please check the quick tutorail videos on youTube and eventually tell me what you'd like to be clarified :)

@RockySmalls you can move pretty fast even swiping horizontally. I can go from 120 to 200 BPM with one single swipe.
Also please keep in mind that I receive several negative feedback about that knob, even one negative review on the store, and I plan to use that space for something new. Maybe we can find a compromise... I can set min to 10 BPM and MAX to 300 :D

ok, i will leave 5star postive review mentioning the genius of the tempo knob and dissing the dummys that can’t negotiate a good Ui...
with the knob you can go from 20 to 240 in one gesture... slight difference :)
please don’t ‘dumb down’ for techno sheep ! ;-)
10 to 300 sounds cool.. gotta go out now so can’t discuss/persuade right now :)
    more later..

@ElliottGarage - don't know if anyone else has this issue, but when I long press on a pad (standalone and AU) it doesn't bring up the sample editor.

    Air 2 12.3.1

Hold edit button and tap pad to open sample editor (changed in last update to prevent accidentally opening editor when playing pads)

With the new update, you need to press edit and then the pad.

    Ah ok, cheers guys.

  • I'd like the tempo knob if you could manipulate the tempo when the host timeline is playing but that seems impossible at the moment. Also if it had a "return to" setting, to return to a set tempo slowly or quickly like an adjustable speed ramp (automatable). Not sure if that's possible but just a thought :)

Actually it the question is asked by Monzo here

@MonzoPro probably the sample that was playing once every four bars was a loop synced. Sync button is intended to sync a 4 bars loop to Pulse BPM, so basically after been time-strectched it will play once every 4 bar. You can find the manual in the settings :)

Ah ok, that makes sense, thanks.

    1) Maybe it me, but I don’t see the long press being recorded into the grid, just one short note is recorded ..

    2) The slice audio on the pad plays 4 bars before it can be triggered again.. even if the note on the grid shows it is being triggered after a pass on the grid... this is confusing..
I think what is missing is a way to loop that sliced pad (independently) instead of the the whole sample being played through (4 bars) ..
    Is it me?

That's what confused me last night, but @ElliottGarage suggested I had the 'Time' option enabled in the sample editor. I've since created new pads with the Hold option selected, and they are recording the correct sample length as it's played and playing through each bar as they should.

It still only shows as one short note visually in the grid, which is a bit confusing for those of us used to using Gadget, for example, but at least it's playing back ok.

  • @ElliottGarage I can’t find any reason to remove the tempo knob. It’s very easy to set, so please don’t delete it. Just my two cents...

@craftycurate tap to tap tempo, longpress to insert manually

    Great thanks!

  • @Faland try the new method draggin the tempo label. If I remove the knob I can add something there...

Simply AMAZING.... Adding Pitch, Probability, Pan, Length, etc. to a slice pad... is WIld..
    Amazing...

    Edit.. and, that’s just 1 instance... Auv3.. 😳

Ok, actually it seems equally useful.
I have no time to read all the thread, did you already talk about the lack of “Accents” in Pulse?

  • @Faland you can easily create Accents using the volume automations

  • @ElliottGarage said:

I tried now with good results, volume and pitch automation, as the accent note tended to be just a little higher in pitch, but the app crashed twice and both times all the changes were lost.
Standalone, no other app running, iPadOS 13.1.2 iPad Pro 9.7

  • @Faland were you working with the top display menu (f.e. to change quantization or other things?) I've found a really weird bug and I'm submitting an update with the fix

Yeah it's a great app. I'm still sussing out how to use it properly, but I can see this one getting a lot of use from me.

  • No, just changing the (HH) pitch and volume automation. > @ElliottGarage said:

No, just changing the (HH) pitch and volume automation.

  • Once the (very welcome) updates and additions settle down I think there are a number of us (and new users) who would appreciate a gentle yet definitive 10 minute run through on this thing we could go back to and keep learning from...

  • Hi @ElliottGarage. Lots to love in this app. One issue I'm experiencing:

I'm able to create a new bank fine but after loading samples into an init kit, saving the kit will crash the app. It comes back up as an init kit without previously added samples.

In stand alone & AU in AUM 1.3.1, GarageBand 2.3.7, Cubasis 2.8.1, NanoStudio 2.0.1, & Audiobus 3.4.9 Pulse crashes when saving a kit.

Thank you for all of your considerable efforts. Pulse is a great Drum Machine/Sampler.

    2016 9.7" iPad Pro iOS 12.2

  • @FrankChilds that's a very silly bug...it happens each time you start a kit from scratch with -init-
I already submitted the fix, in the meanwhile start from a kit already there

@ElliottGarage Thanks. I've never encountered a dev so dedicated or responsive as you've been here. Please consider adding a tip jar IAP.

I'm very pleased with my purchase of Pulse. Five star review incoming. Amazing.

  • I think this app already left the drum-machine area, went to beatmaking, preparing for sampler, and who knows in a month we will ask for scene feature in looper mode !
    Really impressed :)

  • @Korakios @FrankChilds thanks so much...the problem is I'm alone doing all, so sometimes I forget stupid things. This community is really supportive
PS The update is already in review

Well, I think anyone showing the level of commitment, especially someone flying solo like you are, deserves tremendous compensation. I hope you sell a million Pulses. Looking forward to future updates. Be sure to take appropriate breaks for your health too. Cheers!

  • @ElliottGarage is audio multi-out for each pad something planned/doable for AU? Actually, Bank export to Ableton like Gadget with individual sounds separated would be even better. What about that?
Iap tip jar is a good idea too... thanks for your hard work on this one.

  • @bounce I think it's mentioned before , it's not doable (no hosts currently support it).
Other apps that support it rely on Audiobus multiroute (IAA not AU)

  • Can you export folder of sounds compressed?

  • Just tried two instances of this in AUM - one through Roxsyn, the other through Discord.

That’s a track right there. Very happy with this one.

  • The update is online right now!

Oh ya, I think I remember Brambos mentioning that. Ableton export would be welcome since it’s just a zip of stems anyway.
