miRack performance is amazing comparatively. I've gotten into it more on iOS than I ever did before, because performance was such a bottleneck.

It’s uncanny! VCV on my mega desktop runs horribly, miRack on my iPad Pro barely moves the CPU meter. It’s crazy.

    BIG props to miRack.

Same here. miRack on iPad pro (rev.1) that is 4 years old runs better than vcv on my 8-core i7 MacBook Pro 2019.
    Amazing job miRack!

  • vcv is just crackles on my macbook pro. i don’t even have to learn to patch it just makes sounds of its own! 🤣 mirack runs smooooove. the auv3 is performing just as good as the iaa

  • If I remember correctly, at some point mifki showed specific examples of how VCV's graphics code was poorly optimized, I'm guessing his changes play a big part in how good miRack runs in our iPads.

Thanks that helped. Is there a way to copy a group of modules?

At this time not to my knowledge. I believe @mifki is working on someway to do it though auv3 is a priority right now...I think. One thing you can do is copy/paste presets from one module to another. For an ADSR it not be much but using a Synth Voice it could save time. I usually just duplicate module.

Is there a way to utilise Link - sync start/stop?

Yes. It’s in the settings and then you just hook the clock out from the new Stellare Link v2 module to whatever you need.

[edit. It’s not always working for me ... probably user error. Need sleep. 🥱

    I just woke up... :)
To me it looks like Link module is always running (regardless of transport states) which is what I would expect from Link, but then a start/stop socket would have to be added to match functionality.

Ok, apparently I wasn't woken enough... so I found the module setting Sync Start/Stop but I still can't figure out how to start/stop clock or seq without midi involved.

Yeh, I had found that too, but it only ever worked a few times. When it did work, the app play/pause responded to Link start/stop from AUM, and pressing play/pause started and stopped AUM.

I think this is how it's supposed to work, but there's a bug somewhere that keeps it from working consistently (if ever).

I didn't have a midi module in that project. Maybe that is needed. I dunno.

    Ok. Thanks!

  • Any plans for MiRack to get multi audio out for the AUv3?
I know, first things first, but would be great if that was on the roadmap too :)

regarding miRack performance... this is really amazing.. 7 instanstances of miRack (last one playing 4 voices poly !!) and my iPad MINI 2019 is at steady 38% CPU (10 ms buffer) - and i guess CPU is still not running on it's full power, i tried to add one more instance of that poly patch and CPU jumped from 38 just to 41

  • The more I see this stuff the more I’m realizing I really need to wrap my head around it

are you actually sequencing mirack with ns2 pac piano roll then?

My apologies if you have been asked this already. You are beta testing Mi Rack then? Is this a public signup?

Edit: Well instead of scouring the forum and google I should have read your YouTube Title..... Hah, Is there anyway to apply for the beta? I can not wait for this feature.

    Thank you in advance!

  • I just tested update with stellare link and it's worked perfectly as IAP in AUM. Ofcurse auv3 will be more convenient, but now there's no problem with integration MiRack into AUM. Also I'm shocked by code optimisation. While my main iPad on repair, I'm tryin to handle old iPad Air. And you know what? In AUM with MiRack (1 instance, 3 voices), Drambo, PPG Infinte and Ruismaker Noir cpu barely goes to 60-70%. Hats off, @mifki, seems like you're wizard.

Oh beta guys, a little request... please beta, please don’t do the ‘it’s awesome look-see thing’ here, it’s a bit annoying for us non beta types. I’m sure it’s very awesome and you are doing good beta-ing. Thanks.

Did you ask everyone’s opinions? I’m quite interested in what’s coming, personally. Perhaps we could have a ‘Drambo Beta Sneak Peeks’ thread and you could avoid reading it...

  • It IS a bit funny that the original reason VCV didn't want to port to iOS was for performance reasons.

To take nothing away from their achievements of which I sit, a keyboard warrioring away, in awe.

  • I suspect it had more to do with control freakery than any valid technical reason.

In Slovakia there is one well known saying ... "Something is not possible just until it is made by somebody who've been not told that it is not possible". I think VCV -> miRack port is shining example of this old truth.

  • No problem. Just a gentle rib poke and a suggested compromise...

How's transport/clock control in AU when using internal seqs? Any setup needed for clocks/seqs to start/stop with host?

you have this module for syncing your patches with host app

but there is comment in release notes "Please note that this module may change before the public release." so this may be not final thing...

  • Anybody else having issues with the latest version? Ever since I updated, if I open up an existing project or create a new one, when I exit back to “My Patches” it hangs for a long time then that patch is now all “white” instead showing a thumbnail of the patch? Besides that everything seems normal. I tried all the usual tricks of powering off/on and even deleting and reinstalling the app. Still happens. BTW, I did send a bug report but I’m just checking to see if its just me maybe?

    iPadOS 13.4
