It IS a bit funny that the original reason VCV didn't want to port to iOS was for performance reasons.
To take nothing away from their achievements of which I sit, a keyboard warrioring away, in awe.

In Slovakia there is one well known saying ... "Something is not possible just until it is made by somebody who've been not told that it is not possible". I think VCV -> miRack port is shining example of this old truth.

Or, the silly fool didn’t know it couldn’t be done, so he went and did it anyway...

well, yes that is more harsh variant :-))))

    @Digitalpaintfumes
My apologies if you have been asked this already. You are beta testing Mi Rack then? Is this a public signup?

Sorry didn't noticed your question .. i registered to beta on beginning, before first release. Not sure if it is possible now register, you should ask @mifki

    Lol. Tongue in cheek...

How's transport/clock control in AU when using internal seqs? Any setup needed for clocks/seqs to start/stop with host?

you have this module for syncing your patches with host app

but there is comment in release notes "Please note that this module may change before the public release." so this may be not final thing...

  • Cool, looks straightforward with some handy features... thx @dendy !

  • Anybody else having issues with the latest version? Ever since I updated, if I open up an existing project or create a new one, when I exit back to “My Patches” it hangs for a long time then that patch is now all “white” instead showing a thumbnail of the patch? Besides that everything seems normal. I tried all the usual tricks of powering off/on and even deleting and reinstalling the app. Still happens. BTW, I did send a bug report but I’m just checking to see if its just me maybe?

  • Are there any EQ modules?
    Parametric/Graphic?

  • @Apex No it's not just you. Seems to be affecting iPad Pros only. I'll have a build to try soon, send me a PM if you're not a beta tester. I didn't get any reports from beta testers about this, let me know if any of you do get this issue.

  • @apex @mifki iPad Pro first gen, I only see that for a very brief moment while the thumbnail is generated...

no hang i just switched 20 patches lol stand alone mode, 10 as au

  • iPad Pro 9.7, I haven’t had thumbnails since the first update.

  • Can MiRack be link master, ie send start/stop messages to other apps. ?

  • So, no EQs?

  • Use iOS EQs, when it goes AU? Can route different instances into each other and EQ as needed.

  • @jolico said:

No EQ modules by themselves, if I remember correctly.. However several of the MSC Hack mixers have eq on each channel. Each input channel is stereo and can be routed to the Main and/or Group outputs which could give you a VCA/Pan/EQ ‘module’ equivalent. If you press the Mute button on a group send, the audio can still go out the group output and not the main output as long as ‘Pre-mute’ is selected in the mixer settings.

The link module is just a peer and therefor is not able to send out tempo changes and/or start/stop messages, it can only receive those.

  • Ok cheers :-)

Hi, I have been trying to use the Link(v2) module using AUM and a couple of miRack patches. It doesnt seem to receive anything even though Link in AUM is functioning. Are you aware?

  • iPad Pro 9.7 latest iOS and have no issues with the thumbnails or hanging.

    Hey Mark,

Its working fine for me when using miRack standalone(not loading it as IAA in AUM), when I load miRack as IAA then it stops working, also got a crash like this. Perhaps @mifki knows more ;)

  • Actually now I tried it again, for some reason background audio was off. I turned it on and it works also when loading it as IAA inside AUM so you might wanna check if Background Audio is enabled in miRack ;)

For me it also hangs on my iPad Pro 2020 and also some patches show up with white coverart.

I can only load one instance of miRack inside AUM as an IAA, therefore I need to load them as Audio Unit Extensions. Indeed the Link module is fine running as IAA.
I have also noticed the background audio switching itself off along with the one-finger mode. This has been happening seemingly randomly and only occasionally for a few versions, ie before AUM support.

    *edit to add--
Can confirm Its absolutely fine in standalone mode.
(cheeky request) any chance of a bpm readout being added to the module? :)

    Hey Mark,

There should be no Link module in the AU version of miRack, it has a host sync module instead. Link module is only available in the standalone version.

That would explain why background audio was off on my iPad, its the first thing I turn on...

    Cheers
    Sander

  • I'm investigating the issues mentioned above. Been busy lately with new document management functionality - now there will be save/save as/revert/rename that people were asking for. This is the last major thing required to be able to release the first version with AUv3. If any of you who's testing AUv3 beta noticed any issues with it, let me know now:)

  • There should be no Link module in the AU version of miRack, it has a host sync module instead. Link module is only available in the standalone version.

Aha, OK, understood, the host sync only puts out quarter notes though, which means another module to multiply. I'll will have to test a few, the one I am using is not very happy at multiplying a moving (heart rate) clock whereas your module in standalone has no issues.
    Thanks Sander :)
