  • Damn, I tried that because I had a couple of bucks credit but I couldn’t buy the difference. It just came up with an empty box.

  • What a difference a day makes... 24 little hours:

Yesterday folks were lamenting the loss of momentum in StageLight Store content for those that paid $150 for the whole enchilada "pass" and then today... we find that Roland got they checkbook out and bought the application and effectively inherited the users (if they accept the transfer to the new management contract).

I took the bait and accepted the Roland Cloud 30-day offer and spent a lot of effort to get
some of those sounds installed on my seldom used Mac. Unfortunately, the Tera Piano doesn't authorize correctly but the D-50 synth does.

I have requested support for the Tera (Concerto) authorization issue and will see how many of the 30 days it takes to hear if I want that piano for $20/month. It was a tough reminder what it's like to installed plug-ins and use them with Logic Pro.

We are spoiled with the iTunes IOS models of software installation and integration. Still we whine about scalability. But there's a lot to be thankful for.

Now I should actually test this ZenBeats app. Does it also import SFZ's? I always meant to test that with StageLight.

Oh it seems I've come back to find out if there are any Junos or Jupiters only to see that this is the point in the thread where a developer enters and everyone snaps to, loses the snark, and begins to behave more properly but perhaps less honestly.

I (for one) stand by my earlier Roland-based snark. I have had very unsatisfactory experiences with them. BUT. ZenBeats is much like an update to Stagelight so I can’t really justify criticizing that. I guess I’m a little bit “snap to” and a little bit “snark” Wait... isn’t there a song that goes like that...?

So... I thought it only fair to mention that today my experience with Roland customer support was entirely satisfactory. I had a dead email address registered with Stagelight so I couldn’t get the key. They fixed it an hour or so after I sent in the support ticket. Credit where it is due.

  • @MatthewAtStagelight Congratulations to you and the team!

  • Indeed! Looking forward to this.

Seems completely unusable on a 2018 iPad Pro 11" so far... crashed twice on the splash screen. Third time I got in, but it froze when I clicked "Skip for now" on account creation. Fourth time I made it a bit further, opened the store, and it froze again.

Will try it again in an update or two.

Exact same thing happened on my 10.5 pro first couple times but now it seems to have settled down.

    @wim said:
Yeh. It had to crash a couple times loading the content initially. But once past that it has been solid.

Thanks for the heads up. Launched it again and indeed it's smooth sailing now that apparently everything's loaded. Just made a little beat. :-)

For those that have bought in, how's the AU support?

I’m in the same boat, dead email. I’ll try Roland as you have, thanks for posting this

  • Congratulations to team and thanks for not forgetting Stagelight customers! Cant wait to hear about the future development related to this one..

  • Just a little feedback. iPad Pro 2018 512gb, when used auv3 effects, with latency fixed at 512 but also at 1024, got a lot of spikes and crackles. As soon as I click effect disable button the crackles go away.

  • Having some issues getting things going, tried on my iPhone and iPad. Thought possibly due to both devices having iOS 13.1 it was possibly causing the issue, i also tried it on older iPhone on iOS 12 and got key supplied is not valid for your account on all devices. Also tried the method of using icloud and still got the error.

  • What a shame. It’s not available in my country!

  • Deleted Stagelight from my ipad (needed the space for Pure Synth!) Stagelight not on app store anymore so can't reinstall to do changeover. Anyone else with this conundrum?

In the app store, go to your account/purchased and search for StageLight. You can redownload it from there.

    If you:

    a. have a Mac and

    b. have been downloading your apps using Mac iTunes and

    c. backing up your Mac

... you can get the app from the hard disk backup of your Mac.

This is why I get all apps first on my Mac and then copy them across to the iDevices. This way, there's always a Mac HD backup of all apps ever downloaded. If they vanish off the store you can still recover them from the BU.

  • Many thanks @white..will try that. Many thanks @Simon but am a poor impoverished PC man :(

@oat_phipps it’s literally the same as Stagelight, which means the only synth is electro synth.

    Good to know

Technically 3 synths. ElectroPulse, ElectroSyth and SampleVerse as it has programmable OSCs, Filters and LFO's on top of the sampling engine.

Even better. I’ve been all in with Stagelight since 1.0 and I’m still in. I look forward to trying out this latest build!

@Littlewoodg Have you tried updating your Surface Pro StageLight version yet to Roland ? Did you have any problems?

    @MatthewAtStagelight

    Not working with Bluetooth Headphones.

Found the audio settings but there’s no option to change Audio input to “NONE”.

  • So what’s the sampling workflow like in this app?
Easy to chop and slice samples to pads/keys or crate sampled instruments?
How well does AUv3 automation work?
    Support for AUv3 midi plug-ins?
Is there good support for multi-channel audio interfaces?

    Cheers!

  • It’s not available in my country, but judging by some of the comments here, it seems like Roland is releasing inferior software so that they can sell more hardware.

On the other hand, Roland supports AuV3 now and Korg does not.

Either way, Zenbeats is not available in my country.

  • "Roland Zenbeats" sounds like the name of a cartoon character.

It has cell sampling ala looper and also Sampleverse instrument.

    Loop Builder

    SampleVerse

I think AUv3 is new to this version? So we can expect some reviews soon :sunglasses:

Is there good support for multi-channel audio interfaces?

I have sometimes little issues with iTrack synchro but less than gospelmusicians apps or heavybrass. I suppose it's quite good coming from windows platform...

    Cheers!

It’s always been AU only no IAA. Definely needs AU midi cross track or in track support like Cubasis 2.

Looks like the free version is a closed box - no AudioBus or AU. :/

You have to unlock au features , for $14.99 it looks like you can unlock all the apps features, and then there’s an ultimate unlock for $99.00 to unlock all or almost all the expansions and presets.

Yes, I know. That's why I said "the free version is a closed box". :)

I don't use it too much and even less AU hosting so I could be totally wrong
I need to dig seriously on this but I'm so confortable with Garageband macOS workflow...

So are we ever going to see a proper written owner’s manual?

On StageLight YouTube channel there are many tutorials, especially the 0 to 100 episodes

Not a manual but hope it helps.

  • What are the export options like on ZenBeats?

    Possible to export to AudioShare?

@Simon You can create a whole song which gives you the following export options. Or create Stems/ parts.

Looks like it uses the files app so you can mix down and drag back in as audio tracks if needed.

    Great!

Thank you for going to the trouble of doing screenshots. Cheers!
