  • @Zaubrer, hey, it’s not on sale, but I recommend NOISE! I just finished a collaboration with @Daveypoo where I used the MPE keyboard with the the NOISE Overdrive guitar. Wow is all I can say for us folk who don’t have a Roli.

  • Looks like Drum Session just went on sale for $9

Y’all don’t want to miss that one.. If I could, I would buy it again.... at full price..

AUM - I know it’s a forum favorite, but tbh ApeMatrix works for me to connect apps which is what I mainly do. Still, it looks a lot more intuitive tho
I’m not sure if that justifies to buy it

Hard to say. apeMatrix can do a lot that AUM can't, like beat-synced LFOs with different waveforms to control AUv3 parameters and build your own rhythmic effects with plugins you already own, or MIDI clock sync slaving, or recalling a screen set of AUv3 plugins when loading a session which I find essential for live use and any session that requires access to different AUv3 controls on-screen.
I find AUM more intuitive too but it's not really a replacement for apeMatrix (yet?).

    I use apeMatrix in AUM.
So many LFOs running at the same time.

  • From facebook 4Pockets:

To celebrate Cyber Monday I'm reducing the price of Flux - Liquid Audio for the next 48 hours from $7.99 to £5.99. This effect now features an additional 4 effects which have been added since launch and there are more still to come over the festive period. Grab a bargain while you can.

Xequence 2 has always been tempting just because the dev is so active here and so many folks are fans, but it's not really clear to me what it would give me that I can't get already by sequencing external apps/hardware in NS2.

I have both Xequence 2 and NS2. The great advantage of X2 is when you want to work with synths and audio in AUM and/or Audiobus and have the Midi sequencers sync with apps in AUM and AB - including start/stop.

You must load X2 into a Midi source and AUM in an audio destination of Audiobus. Then you can load other apps/plugins into AUM and Audiobus and everything will run in sync including X2. I was unable to achieve that with NS2 as it seems not to use start/stop. For example I was using such a setup: Blocs Wave loaded in AB, Rozeta playing Ruismaker and X2 playing a synth. In this setup it's possible to start and stop in all apps that control transport.

I do love the NS2 workflow but as it can't sync properly I use it as a sound module only because Obsidian is one of my favourite synths. Apart from that X2 has some more really nice features that NS2 doesn't have. PolyHymnia, the generative Midi module, great Audiobus integration and very flexible Midi routing.

But anyway don't miss the NS2 sale... Obsidian is already worth it.

Take it, one of my favorites. All FAC plugins are excellent, but this one has something more. I use it practically everywhere. It’s not a eq, by the way...

    I bought the FAC bundle...

Bandit is probably one of my more used FAC plug-ins. For example Its good on drums to saturate just some of the frequencies (like just the kick leaving the hats untreated).

I don't use the other FACs other than Maxima that much, but Bandit is pretty nice. But I do like saturation and lo-fi stuff...

  • If you pick up Bandit for that great sale price - don’t even hesitate - get the IAPs as well.. yes, it’s that much fun!

Guys, if you don't already have FAC Chorus, you should take it right away. Simply, the best chorus on iOS!

Doing some last minute shopping now. Still got 20€ in my account.

My general preferences are well made simple stand alone groove boxes, experimental instruments you can get lost in and modular stuff.

Maybe I could get some input on those:

AUM - I know it’s a forum favorite, but tbh ApeMatrix works for me to connect apps which is what I mainly do. Still, it looks a lot more intuitive tho
I’m not sure if that justifies to buy it

miRack - also a fan favorite, but I already got VCV Rack on my laptop and a bunch of modular apps on my iPad already. On the other hand I like the slightly tactile feel of the iPad.

Shoom - that looks great as a dreamy just get lost in thingy. I love Spacecraft for example. Could Shoom be my jam?

Bleass and FM304 may be some cool standalone machines? Yay or nay?

Or should I just wait for Drambo instead?

    You should get Pure Acid.

You can do with Shoom what four simultaneous synths droning and texturing could do, but from one lovely surface - get it.

And Aphelian and PolyPhase and Gestrument

Very tempting, but I have Xequence 1 and rarely use it. When it first arrived, some said X2 was almost identical to X1. Opinions?

Yep, same for me and same question.

Thanks a lot for the explanation. This sounds more complicated than what I usually do in NS2, which is essentially hosting synths and effects in AUM and using NS2 as the only MIDI source.

Currently I just record the output of other MIDI generators into NS2 tracks (using MIDI Tools), but that's kind of a pain so I see the appeal of just being able to sync them all up via Audiobus.

Anyway, I'm a sucker for buying and learning new apps I don't really need rather than just making music, so I just bought X2. :-)

Just joining the choir, whenever I have a beat that's a bit naff, FAC Bandit will make it bang. There's a couple plugins that are on every single project and FAC Bandit is definitely one. It can be really subtle or wild but there's a sweet spot in between that I love. Along with Reamp, this is my goto sat plugin.

For me, X2s killer feature is the multi-take recordings.

The ability to get a basic groove going, and then just jam over the top is brilliant.
It was the missing piece of the puzzle for me.

  • I don’t see the FAC bundle in the App Store US...

  • I installed reason compact to check for sales... didn’t see one. At this point I think I can safely say I will never, ever buy this app (but would pay $15 as a Reason user.)

It is probably a part of the pricing strategy from the developer. I noticed the same with 4pockets. As they introduced the slightly reduced prices on Digistix and MultitrackRecorder they also removed the bundle that contained both. The same with the FAC apps.
