It’s pretty cool this. I recorded a few loops, drums, synth etc., then built up a song in Multitrack by recording different combinations and pitches of loops, similar (ish) to the way I work in Live with Session/Arrangement view, building clips in L7, and stamping them into MTR.

Hmmm, could be a new workflow - that reverb is rough, mind.

  • Quick question... does L7 import audio loops? Also, are they or can they be time stretched to fit another tempo?

    You can time stretch them?!

Yep! Just pinch and zoom with two fingers on the import screen.

Yes, Thanks - Dropbox worked smoothely - will try the setup later this evening when I am back home and give feedback ...

    Cool.

Dear Gravitas - I loaded your setup into AUM - and started some looping into L7 - and yes, I made the same experiences as in my own setup - so the crackling is still there for me ... but I have already sent a detailed description and videos of screenrecordings to Daniel (one of the devs) - he said they will take a look and I am sure they will sort it out ...

But thanks again for your effort in trying to help me ....

    No worries.

I'm glad that loading the preset worked in the end and
good to hear that they're going to be able to assist you further.

  • Speaking of time-stretch, is it just me, or is the time stretching when you change tempos exceptionally good? I haven’t used it heavily, but when I have, I’ve been super-pleased with the quality.

  • @skiphunt

My apologies I had wrongly credited the
discovering the slide function to @MonzoPro.

It's made my looping so much easier.

    @wim

I also find that the time stretching is really good.
It does need a little cross fade I reckon.

  • @MonzoPro Yes it great to get something going with multiple loops and then export into MTDaw or Auditor for further processing.

Have noticed a few crackles etc probably due to loop end loop start points not being level. Brusfri works a bit to get rid of them not sure if iOS has another app specially to deal with pops clicks and crackle.? Any suggestions anyone?

It went a bit crackly on me at one point, but generally ok - a few glitches and freezes, but I’m dealing with bugs in MTR as well so it’s a rickety old workflow anyway.

Multiple groups of loops would be cool, then it’d be a proper contender, but enjoying playing with it as it is, and already completed a track using it.

Until it becomes AUv3 (and let’s hope it works properly with multiple instances) you can do the group looping and slide view with GTL.

I still need to check if, aside slide view, it has split view...

  • ^^ yeah, does split view with AB3 .....

GTL? I saw L7 snapshot but I was talking about GTL due a previous comment I did...

Anyways I finally checked myself it (lazy boy am I) and GTL does Split view too.

  • @danielfromcodalabs Awesome. Thanks. Purchased.

  • Thinking about using a different reverb for the next update. How does everyone feel about the current reverb? I know @MonzoPro mentioned it was a bit rough.

It would be great if we could adjust the reverb tone and time.
A low pass filter would be perfect.

I agree with @MonzoPro the reverb is a little rough.
    Sufficient for now though.

Technically the slider adjusts the time (and dry/wet mix). Right now there's a LPF but it's at 10K. Just tried bringing it down to 4K and it sounds much cleaner.

Oh, I didn't realise that the slider adjusted time as well as the dry/wet mix.
I thought it was simply for the dry/wet mix.

Yeah, most reverbs can be sweetened up by lowering the LPF.

Almost every time I use reverbs especially
algorithmic reverbs that's the first thing I do.

  • @danielfromcodalabs

How about keeping the reverb the same but
as the reverb time increases the LPF goes higher.

So for short times such as 7ms it will have say
a 2khz cut of frequency and then for say 3 secs
the frequency goes up to 10khz.

I really like that dry/wet technique.

    Very cool.

L7 as a source isn’t supported because the app requires audio input to function. In Audiobus you should put it in the receiver slot, and in AUM you should put it an effects slot. Let me know if this works for you.

Thanks. Weird, it’s shows as a source on the iPhone in AUM but not iPad.

Works as designed through AB or in the effects slot.

  • @eyesunderground Is it possible the version of L7 is different on your iPad vs. your iPhone? We had L7 listed as a source only in the initial release of L7.

Deleted. Figured out how to get out of Bluetooth screen was swiping it away. Not intuitive but it worked!

@aure does it have different sections like verse chorus and such?

Help me understand what you mean. I would say that this is up to how the artist wants to set things up. Do you mean like labels? No, not sure how that would be done elegantly either.

I think he means something along the lines of the Group the Loop app

Is there a way to turn off the metronome sound? Can’t have that if we’re using it live.

volume control in the BPM menu.

what about the actual sound of the metronome, can you choose a custom sound?

    Nope.

No, but a better sound is on its way. Maybe we'll have some options down the road too.

Please consider adding a mute metronome button in two places:

    • in the audiobus bar
    • In the main window of the app
  • a mute button for the metronome would be my only immediate need from this app. Other wise should be nice compliment to Loopy HD.

Take a look at the top right corner.. it’s there but very tiny.. I think it would be more useful right beside the play button + about the same size..

  • Hi everyone, quick update - we've got AUv3 support (mostly) functioning! Working hard to release this in an update within the next few weeks.
