https://itunes.apple.com/app/xynthesizr/id720810459?ls=1&mt=8

Xynthesizr is a streamlined yet capable 32-step matrix sequencer/synthesizer with generative features and MIDI.

Starting with this version, Xynthesizr is no longer freemium and does not offer in-app purchases, what you get is a fully-functional version. Now available for a lowered price of $2.99. Those who had previously downloaded the app get a free update.

What's new:
◦ Improved UI
◦ MIDI (notes output, sync input and output)
◦ Notes to MIDI channel mapping for driving multiple apps or devices simultaneously
◦ Stereo delay with tempo sync
◦ Export via AudioCopy and AudioShare
◦ Tap tempo
◦ Pattern clear button
◦ New gestures: 3-finger tap to clear pattern, 2-finger tap to clear notes of a certain color
◦ Ability to change 'songs' in sync (wait until the end of current pattern before loading a selected 'song')
◦ Adjustable interval (-12 to +12 semitones) for the second oscillator
◦ Variable step length subdivision (whole note to 16th)
◦ New and updated songs and presets

Thanks @YuriT! I had this one in the backlog of apps to go through, so never got to purchasing any IAP I think. :(

Looks like a pretty massive (and awesome) update with the MIDI sync and channel routing, ACP/Audioshare etc.

  • Great update Yuri. A must have app now.

  • This feels totally different now. Fantastic improvement. I will use this a lot. Thank you!

  • Yuri, thank you for the update.

Thank you, guys! Glad you enjoy it!

Wouldn't be as good without your help, @mgmg4871. Thanks a lot!

@ChrisG, well, if you regret not supporting me, you can still rate and write a review on the App Store, and/or gift the app to a friend of yours :D

  • iPhone only?

  • Nope ....x2 for ipad too.

  • Nice vids! Had it since it released but haven't used it yet. My interest in it has been tickled.

  • @Greg, it's an iPhone app, but it works on a iPad too (scaled up).
A 'real' iPad version is planned for the next update, if all goes smoothly.

  • @YuriT That I can do! :)

  • Looks really cool and useable....updating now..... :)

  • Check out the drone preset.

This is now one very cool midi sequencer.

Big improvements on the bpm control and step length too. I notice min bpm is now 16 and not 10.

  • Hi @Yuri thanks for the great update. I just tried to run the app with it being midi synced to beatmaker 2. It doesn't start when I press play in bm2 and when I press start on the app itself it just plays one long note without cursor moving. It does update to bm2 tempo though. Have you actually tested it tempo synced to bm2?

Also one suggestion, it would be nice to have a landscape option as most of apps and daws seem to have that possibility. Cheers.

  • @thinds, minimum BPM was actually 1 in the previous version. Now the same note duration can be achieved by setting BPM to 16 and step length to a whole note, which is kind of less ridiculous than it was :D

  • Thanks @YuriT good info. Will have a proper play later. Great app now even better.

    @supadom, thanks!
I haven't tested it with BM2 yet. I'll check if I can reproduce the issue.

Are you using Xynthesizr on iPad? The iPad version will definitely use landscape orientation. For the iPhone version I'd want to leave it as is (in portrait orientation), because I think being able to see 22/26 note rows and 16 steps makes much more sense than 22/26 steps and 16 rows.

  • Got it....fantastic!

I'm on ipad but running iphone version. This is the only version available in uk store.

This looks great. If I buy the iPhone version now, will that iPad version be in an update to make this universal... or will it be a separate app?

  • @YuriT it doesn't work landscape on my iPad. It's always been stuck on portrait.

Sorry @YuriT haven't read it properly. Looking forward to the ipad version and bm2 sync.

  • @thinds

Maybe I misunderstood your post but by the wording it seemed like you were wondering why it doesn't work in landscape mode now. Sorry if I misunderstood what you wrote

  • @thinds, @supadom
Yes, guys, I was talking about the planned landscape iPad version. Currently it is iPhone-only (and portrait-only).

    @OmnilimbO
My current intention is to make it universal, although I can't tell for sure until I actually start making it (there might be some programming-related issues with iPhone and iPad using different orientations, I don't know yet).

    .

  • It's really wonderful, thank you for the update. Changing songs on the fly is aces. Effects fade and everything. Really appreciate that attention!

I've tried syncing it to funkbox (xynthesizer as master) without luck. Anyone else able to do it?

Any plans for a pattern chaining/song mode on the road map?

  • How old is this thread? I immediately went to the App Store to get the update, but all I get is the 'Open' prompt, suggesting I already have the update... ???

  • @syrupcore, thank you!

I'll try it with Funkbox too.

No plans for this as of now. I suppose there already are apps better suited for this task, I don't know for sure though. :)
