Doesn't your DAW/beat looper/whatever send clock sync? After all, that's the app that knows the current song position...
I like to keep things clean and lean-I'm using an ipad2.
An app that makes beats, a synth (or even two) that syncs to those beats, and an effect if there's room left over.
My current song position is wherever I happen to be, baby!
Quite intuitive and logical. Easy to get things going and enough options to turn a simple pattern into an original sounding song. I like the export to AudioShare.
Late to the party... Downloading now and very excited about this one... Going to take @mgmg4871 suggestion and check out demo for tonight. Dig in more tomorrow. So glad this one is available!
Hmm, does not look like this will really be suitable for decidedly more electronic sounding music. Am I wrong here? Are there some audio examples for this?
Probably not. You can bring your own samples in but unless you are going for a human touch in your electronic drums this might not be what you are after.
Couldn't resist starting a beat from scratch.... This is great. In minutes able to build a viable drum part for a track that I've had trouble creating for a long time. The ability to quickly put in the core beat and add such tremendous level of control re. probability, velocity PER HIT, PER INSTRUMENT! WOW!!! Sorry for the yelling :-)
Anyone else who owns it, can you tell me how I can edit more than four beats at a time without a clock/sig hack? I feel dumb for not being able to figure it out.
That's the only way as far as I can tell. Just double the sig up for as many measures you want in the pattern. Patterns are completely independent of each other so you can increase BPM, change the beats, even change the kit if you decide you want tighter control.
Thanks @wayni. At least I feel less crazy now. Sleep now. Must have.
@OmnilimbO - please don't take this as directed at you because it's most definitely not.
I don't understand why we think certain apps should fit certain genres and etc... I used OmnilimbO's statement as a jumping off point; I don't believe it was said anywhere that this would be used for electronic music, why does it need to there are tons of other apps that can do that. I suppose the best example of this is Different Drummer, which I happen to own and like. It was said of DD "yea it can do these crazy abnormal rhythms, but can it do a 4-on-the-floor or a normal drum beat?" The answer is yes but not easily, which is not valid to my point....why does it have to, there are tons if other drum apps that can do that, is it because it's a drum app that it's a prerequisite to do those things. I guess my thing is why do we have to put everything in a genre/label instead of "Wow this is an awesome piece of software that's nothing like anything else out there right now!"
::end rant::
Again, not directed at anyone lol just felt the need to say that...
From the introduction on iTunes:
"DrumPerfect is a drum sequencer for IOS 7 that aims at creating extremely naturally sounding drum tracks for electronic music production."
Which actually got me worried the first time I read it because what I want is rock/pop/blues drums!
It's almost a contradiction. ;-)
Probably will try it out later today. It was released just as I was preparing to go to bed.
I've been waiting for this app and I'm not disappointed. The "electronic music production" bit threw me, at first but I knew it was designed for realistic drumming so ignored it. They should take that bit out as to avoid confusion. Great app, very deep. Hope for more kits in future.
I think it actually means electronic production of music.
@PaulB Of course, and after watching Doug's pre-release video that soon became obvious. But, without having seen that, and at a time when a lot of Electronic Music (as a style) apps are being released, that wording can be confusing. No big deal though.
I think it's easy to use this in electronic music. Caveat: you'll need to import your own genre-relevant samples.
Hoping full midi support will be added soon, which would greatly reduce the kit building work that is currently required.
@boone51, this is the first probability app where I'm willing to say that a 4-bar grid is enough. That being said, would love it if eventually expanded to 8 bars or user specified. :-). Must have limitations based on device resources, I imagine...
@dj8: thanks!
The current version allows to configure a single measure for up to 32 beats with a subdivision of 16 subbeats for each beat.
@Marinus, great re. ability to build up to 32 beats! And, thank you for this truly brilliant app!!!
How do we do that @Marinus?
Tap subdivision on main page and type in number.
Also: if there is one thing I might suggest/request it would be the ability to audition samples from the sample selection screen instead of from inside the kit/pattern as described in the manual. Also some way to organize the samples such as directories.
Excellent app @Marinus. Everything I had hoped for and then some!
@mgmg4871 That gets me subs per beat. How do I specify bests alone?

Since you only program one measure at a time that would be the top number of the time signature.
I have to say I'm not crazy about only being able to program one bar at a time, unless I've missed something
I've been adjusting the top and instead of understanding a pattern to be equal to a measure only I understand it to be a number of beats. This works pretty well although a touch confusing at times and I'm not certain the impact it might have in sending correct song pointer info.
Also - from the "Song" construction screen it might be nice to have an option to loop the song playback in the same way that patterns will loop.

Maybe this will help.
2.5 Time signature
For each pattern a time signature can be set as num/den where num is a integer number between 1 and 32 and den is an integer number from the set {1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32}.
2.6 Beat subdivision
Each beat is subdivided into a number of subbeats. The subdivision can be set per beat as an integer number between 1 and 16. The Subdiv parameter can be used to set the same beat subdivision for all beats.
2.7 Beat grid
The beat grid is shown as a series of bars, each of which represents a subbeat in the beat grid
Loving this app. Hats off to Marinus and his team on this!
@junjunkie Try this. Program a beat, and load a few chord samples in by audiopaste.
Ok, I want to program a 16 beat measure in 120 time. Can someone walk me through how to do that with the subdivision parameter? Pretend like I'm a second grader.
