Since you are s confident that lockdowns do t do anything, how about take a job in a warehouse, meatpacking plant and show us how safe it is to send people back to work.
Nice to see a concerted effort to find solutions to this problem, apart from Trump, WHO the fuck are you.
Tory party are the same swine they’ve always been, just with rebranding by behavioural wonks, you just know they’ll get their no deal brexit as the hedge funders and disaster capitalists will make a killing, both figuratively and literally.
Sneaky cows are using this pandemic to privatise more of the nhs and put in place a more intrusive surveillance state, under the guise of fighting the covid mugger, using the grab your ankles technique. Think I’m going to just get into tutorials for a bit, until my blood pressure goes back down, watched a really good molekular the other day, can see it being one of my goto creative fx now.
Trump be like (in his inner chimpanzee voice).... china's baaad, china tried to suppress data, Lie and suppress the truth about the virus... Trump administration goood, we can do it better, Trump Lie to fast for Americans to keep up
It is good that one, but it can be a bit overwhelming. Needs a lot of taming.
Yeah know what you mean about the political stuff - we seem to have no say over the disastrous path the Tory bastards are taking us on. I dip in and out, it’s good to have a break from it.
Thought I was editing the post above, never mind.
One thing that always frustrated me about molekular was thinking that the modules couldn’t be moved in the four slots, didn’t know you could grab the four circle icons in the routing section and move em about.
With politics atm, I feel like I’m in the invasion of the body snatchers, 70’s version or the stepford wives, makes my wonder if the tories have been replaced by a.i, especially in the daily briefings, who have they forced to take the podium today, seems to be someone different each time and will they malfunction on stage again.
It is striking (but not surprising) that the money behind the “lockdowns need to end” movements are from wealthy people whose money comes largely from investment and whose own jobs can be done while remaining socially distant.
None of the pundits telling us that we need to get back to work actually do jobs that need to be done in confined spaces with lots of other people or where people can’t skip work because they are sick or have someone sick at home.
They are insisting that OTHER people put themselves at risk.
Yes it seems to be converging towards a traditional left/right divide. Seems weird that the response to a pandemic should go this way, but it has.
People are already breaking. Dr. Lorna Breen, the medical director of the emergency department at New York’s Presbyterian Allen Hospital, committed suicide April 26. She’d seen everyone from toddlers to 80+ year old seniors die in horrific fashion, day in day out. She actually contracted the virus and stayed home sick for just a week and a half before returning to work because the need for physicians was that great. No history of mental illness, just old fashioned traumatic stress/shell shock and the inability to do another day of watching people drown in a hospital bed. She apparently broke down at the hospital and her family had her treated for a few days, thought she was OK, and then they wake up the next day to her dead.
Long before that ignorant dunce Mayor Carolyn Goodman embarrassed everyone in my home town of Las Vegas I’ve been very worried about the Strip & gaming/hospitality businesses reopening way too soon. I have friends and family working from home and they’re busier now than ever before because everyday the plans & protocols they drew up the previous day are shit canned and they start over from square one.
In the grand scheme of things those at the top may not be doing huge amounts of grunt work or seeing themselves in vulnerable positions; Generals aren’t firing every round but they’re essential to the battles and to the wars. We have been hobbled by a complete lack of ANY real leadership at the top. The Federal Govt. under Trump is madness, no one knows what, where, how & why and the ultimate consideration is pleasing the narcissistic sociopath.
I can’t fade social media for longer than 5 minutes sometimes because my blood pressure skyrockets from my incredulity. I gave up Facebook years ago but visit Twitter frequently. I cannot fathom how these Trump Cultists still can’t bring themselves to admit he has done ANYTHING wrong. You’ll look through their timeline and it’s pure insanity.
The entire world will be watching these briefings, we all hear the obnoxious ignorant drivel that he says, yet the next day when asked about his own quote he says “I never said that.” It’s an unprecedented insult to the intelligence of the American people and the entire world! The tape will be played or posted on these rubes timelines and the only response is “fake news”. Live TV is NOT fake news!! I mean is this where we’re at as we race towards 100,000 dead?! We are living through the death of truth.
This virus will be a serious problem for months if not years to come. Burying heads in the sand and rushing to return to “normal” when the infection & death rates are still this high is utter lunacy. I don’t take any pride in saying it, nor am I some amateur Nostradamus. It doesn’t take a soothsayer to see the obvious. This crisis will worsen and kill thousands of additional people because 35% of the country are raving dumbfucks.
Yes people need money, yes people have families, yes people are stir crazy and want to return to their routines. But to use the @GOP’s favorite catch all, the remedy must not be worse than the problem. If we rush to placate peoples lack of patience and foresight, if we reduce the value of human life to a bargaining unit and if we rush back to where the virus has a huge buffet to snack on we will be fucked for not just this year, but next year and the year after that! We won’t even be able to go to the grocery or essential businesses because just GOING OUTSIDE may be enough to become infected.
Viruses mutate, we’ve known about & studied this virus for just a few MONTHS. Treatments & vaccines are 3-6 months away if we’re lucky. We don’t know what we don’t know. We don’t know how this virus could mutate.
Remember your history or be doomed to repeat it. Study the 1918 Pandemic, called the “Spanish Flu” because the media in Spain were the ONLY source of information on it for months as the countries in World War I censored and shut down communications about the virus to maintain morale, avoid panic and not disrupt the economy & military industrial production (sound familiar?).
In the US states like Colorado and other Midwest states rebuffed social distancing and measures to curb the infections spread. They paid for it with increased deaths and massive infection rate spikes. Don’t just trust Wikipedia, Google information from the Smithsonian, the National Archives, it’s all there...We are dooming ourselves by repeating the same mistakes from a century ago.
Trump meanwhile can’t get any of the facts straight and the lessons of the 1918 Pandemic are lost on him. Speaking at his propaganda arm Fox News virtual town hall meeting at the Lincoln Memorial, he said: 'So in 1917 we had a horrible flu, the Spanish flu. So much has been written about it...It killed between 50 to 100 million people and probably ended the First World War because all the soldiers were getting sick. It was the worst the world has ever seen, that we know of.'
Sigh...Christ. Be safe. Good luck. We need it.

Here in the UK, we have now officially the worst death toll in Europe, but don’t worry Brexit is still on track.
News from one sKweWy RaaBit, the Foreign Secretary.
@JRSIV, yes, I know about that doctot’s death. It is very likely she had cognitive deficits after her recovery and her struggle to be what she could no longer be as a highly functioning ER doc contributed to her reason for suicide. This is something not much discussed... the after effects of the disease. Definitely some evidence of loss of cognition, due perhaps to bring on a ventilator for long periods. Not sure about organ and immune system damage. Anyone with info on this subject?

An excellent article. The incidences of blood clots, kidney, heart, GI and brain complications are under reported, IMO. How anyone can still compare this to the flu is a tribute to the infinite ignorance humans are capable of. And, of course, many in the US believe the death stats are falsified.
If you can get people to share a future vision (often called up by referring to a golden past)
then they will filter reality throw a screen that fits into the vision. @Mark B has signed up for that campaign and firmly believes he's pushing truth for a better tomorrow. His goals are noble but the consequences of ignorance in power are dire outcomes.
Journeyman video has been scanning the US for any doctor pushing do less strategies with Sweden as their poster child.
Thankfully this is a case where most people will err on the side of personal safety and that works for the greater good to slow transmission rates and spread the time horizon over years.
How to protect logistics and economic systems has yet to be determined... maybe we'll achieve consensus on universal health care as the most cost effective approach.
To the extent that Sweden's approach is not proving as disastrous as say what happened in Lombardy or New York City, does not mean that it would translate well to other places. (And, just a reminder it is only working "well" in comparison to disaster -- it is not working anywhere near as well as what is happening in neighboring countries).
Their demographics and economics and geography all play into what is happening there. Sweden is an affluent country with excellent health care and particularly healthy population. The population density is low. Per capita income is much higher. They have a culture of social responsibility far different from that in U.S. They have voluntarily reduced their mobility quite a bit.
Those that think the U.S. should use the Swedish approach need to turn the U.S. into Sweden first -- and ironically, many of the people that say "Sweden doesn't need a lockdown" are violently opposed to the sort of medical infrastructure (ahem: socialized medicine) that they have or the sorts of labor laws they have.
I'll bet the biggest difference is the way education is funded and prioritized. Idiots don't
become virus carriers in the name of personal freedom. Your freedom stops about 6 feet away from me and in NYC there might not be enough physical space for that to be feasible.
But Libertarians was very poor at considering time, space and reality. But they are good at visions and personal empowerment (which for me is just dedicated selfishness).
If showing alternate opinions based on real data coming in that questions the Governments decisions and the mainstream media agenda is by your definition ignorance and a reality filter, then fine. We shall see how this turns out. I am just one of the lone voices.
What is the "real" data to which you are exposing us? I am not being contentious, but I haven't seen any new reliable data that sheds a new light on anything.
Btw, I haven't been relying on data from governments, either. I've mostly been reading what epidemiologists, virologists and public folks have to say -- and comparing what they have to say with how reality then shapes up.
The speculation by those two doctors in California is not new reliable data if that is what you were referring to.
More data confirming recent independent studies.
German virologist: Covid-19 is less deadly than we thought
I don't have time to watch this now, I might try tomorrow though, however one thing is certain at this point in time, we don't know the truth yet, it will take many months to emerge, so I would say that anyone who claims to know the absolute truth now is not really seeking the truth, but pushing a narrative, which is not the same thing. 🤨
He clearly says we won’t know the truth until the epidemic is over. But it does no harm to re-evaluate if the measures we have taken are appropriate.
That's absolutely fair enough, and I agree with it in principle.
But of course until we know more then we are dealing with uncertainty, and in the face of uncertainty and asymmetric risk I believe we should always take a cautious approach.
I'm willing to change my mind once facts become known, but until then we should be cautious in case there are unforeseen negative consequences to our actions.
I saw that 1.3 million people tuned in live to watch David Icke on London Real the other day. Now, that scares me. Icke of course thinks the virus does not exist and this is being caused by 5G and a lot of people seem to believe him.
totally expected, don't be surprised if the president tells us there are very good people on both sides referring to the virus and the people dying from it.
Sometimes when you look around and no one is siding with you... it means your not interpreting reality correctly. But stick to your vision of this ain't really no thing and we are all deluded. It's easy to form cults around the detail of reality. Trump's followers are exhibiting classic cult loyalty to a "visionary leader". Nothing can dislodge the true believer.
Certainly not facts that run counter to the gut vision of the master.
"This will all be over soon." (Who doesn't want to believe that?)
Unfortunately, we have work to do to return to what was or build a new set of systems to give us a stable social order and functioning economy.
Some mainstream news from me for a change.
Coronavirus: Top government scientist Neil Ferguson resigns from SAGE after breaking lockdown rules.
It’s reported that he allowed his married lover to visit him..

Dissenting voices are a good thing, they can puncture groupthink and orthodoxy. And the debate is polite and well-mannered, I don't see a problem with it.
Also, it takes courage to be a lone dissenting voice, and face the resulting criticism. So again I don't see the problem.
It's unlikely that either Mark or any of us are going to change their mind (although you never know), but personally I actually like to hear and consider other points of view, and then try and filter the signal from the noise.
Lets cut to the chase, here's the thing..... we all know that Donald Trump does not have a bone in his body that is inclined to do the right thing, so what the people are really doing is waiting like guinea pigs on the president to see exactly what kind of wrong thing he does.
lol people are out here acting like there is an actual debate going on as to whether this man will do the right thing........ The last thing this man will do is the right thing, this man is predisposed to do the wrong thing, his very nature is based on doing the wrong thing, this mans definition of doing the right thing is to find the worse thing he can do and hope that there are enough people out there that support the wrong thing enough that it makes it right.
who would elect this sac of vomit to sit in the oval office, surely no one would do something like this, was this a suicide by vote attempt, were they the smartest people in their families making the smartest decisions they ever made in their lives, when they cast that vote for the total complete and utter mongrelism of even a modicum of political decency in the voting booth, was it during an Eureka moment!!....? This President made Paul Ryan question his own existence , Paul Ryans children were like daddy you want us to grow up and be like this
