So the SugarBytes apps appear to be free, but with IAPs.

They're a little confusing though. When I open Aparillo, I get a popup that says buy full version Factory for $9.99. When I open Factory, I get a similar popup to buy Aparillo.

That’s just a mistake - the IAPs will of course be for the synth you buy them in. All SBs recent apps have used this free + IAP model. Aparillo and Factory are both great, a steal for 10 bucks!

I really dug the noises I heard from Aparillo from the wee bit of playing around i did in it. Will probably buy. Thanks!

  • Senode question - it’s on sale for $6.99, on the App Store and the second sentence in the App Description says - “Stay Tuned For A Bigger Feature Update in LATE 2020”

Does anyone know, or has anyone heard about this Senode Update? and what it will bring to the app? I’m really hoping it will be Auv3.

  • Jubal Flute and Shire Whistle by Embertone are both down to $4.99 from $9.99

I've had endless fun with both Jubal Flute and Sensual Sax (which, sadly, is not on sale).

  • Any listing on IAP's?

I think Looperator is a $2 discount, not sure what Aparillo's is...

Also, is there a search parameter for IAPs on any on the typical sites like Appsliced?

Would hate to miss out on a great IAP on an app I own and love but didn't check...

If anyone hears of a great one, let us know! It's why we are great!

Skiiid on sale! For all that missed the hypershort sale the last time :D

What is this app capable of? Hadn’t heard of it before, but it looks interesting.

  • Aparillo was invaluable to me for QUICKLY scoring podcasts on Shakespeare's tragedies: well worth the regular IAP price (US$18). Not a bread-and-butter synth, and not what I'd use for the comedies -- but if you need something dramatic or looming, Aparillo's presets will get you there fast.

If you have Drum Computer, I say no. You have a far more intuitive interface in DC and it is very pliable in comparison. Plus, Elastic just has some features that really bug me that haven't changed.

  • Elastic Drums is amazing, truly. Nothing else sounds like it, and the sample manipulation it allows is way ahead of anything on iOS, DrumComputer included. Two downsides: It's IAA, and I'm not sure if this will ever be ported to AU. The second...actually that's it.
For $5 I guarantee you'll get your money's worth of at least one track. Sequencing is outstanding, and there's a live play mode that is a blast.

It creates a rhythmically morphing noise drum track.
Kinda like Ruismaker Noir in result, but not the same workflow.

Agreed, mate. I've got a load of hardware but there are plenty of things I'm moving away from and parting company with thanks to finding better ways to do them within the iOS ecosystem. The latest example of this is a Beatstep Pro which I have never actually used thanks to being able to control everything far more intuitively using MIDI apps inside AUM.

I must admit I struggle with switching between the sequencer (LK, Atom or Xequence) and the synth apps/windows. For some reason this switching distracts me so much that it kills my creativity :( .
I think it would be better do the sequencing on a different device. I'm considering to get a Keystep pro for sequencing and use AUM only for the synths and the effects.
And once I put together something good I would migrate the whole project into cubasis for polishing.

  • Thanks, user guide is a good idea, going to check

Using LK has helped me a load in terms of keeping everything within AUM rather than switching between apps but I know what you mean. I'm going to map out controls within AUM and LK to a USB controller so that I can avoid window hopping as much as possible.

  • Just noticed Maze Rider and Bass Leveler are on sale $3.99 ($7.99).
There is a bundle, too, but be careful.
    Bundles be wack lately.

It heats up your device to keep you warm in winter.

  • The bundle there is correct because you must have got MazeRider for free like I did. It only gives you money off the amount you paid cash for the other apps not got them free :)

    Anybody have the Shire Whistle?
I like their other apps, but the reviews for this one indicate potential problems with sample volume levels. Looking for some advice, if you happen to have this.

I trust peeps around here way more than AppStore reviewers, so I put this question to the forum.

    It’s tempting... the only DAW I haven’t tried (and don’t have)... 🤔
Can soneone please talk me out of buying it? 😜

Listen to me, do what I say, take your iPad, enter the AppStore, then throw the iPad out of the window :p
    You are saved now o:)

    Lol.

Not trying to talk you out of it, but these are some of the things I try to keep in mind before I drown myself in apps. It doesn’t have to be a DAW, any Synth, Drum Machine, FX, etc...can apply. After many years of app gluttony, I TRY to ask myself these things. (I said I try, cue uncontrollable sobbing, pull yourself together man, lol) Ok, I admit I got a bit carried away putting this together, but Maybe it will help someone. In no specific order.

    AUv3? Midi in/out? General Connectivity?

What’s your main workflow? Does it fit in?

Do you really need another DAW/Synth/Drum Machine etc ? If so Why?

How much will you really use it? Does it fill a need?

Is there any features or abilities that this DAW/Synth/etc will give you, that you don’t already have?

What’s unique about it, does it have something you can’t get from other apps?

Have you done your research? YouTube, Reviews, etc... if so what’s the verdict?

Based of some research, What’s your instinct tell you? Maybe it just sounds great, or it’s a known great developer.

Size - both Storage & DSP/CPU? This is also relative to your iPad model, storage available. Will I be loading large samples/SF2/etc into the app making it much larger? SSD, other storage options?

Does developer have a good track record, with other music apps, whether iOS/Mac/PC?

Does developer update the app, on at least a somewhat regular basis? Doesn’t have to be frequently, but some version update history is always a welcome sight. It tells me the app will most likely continue to be improved/updated and isn’t going away anytime soon.

Is developer responsive to issues, bugs, features? Easy to contact?

Is there an LE or Lite version I can try for free? Maybe a 1 month subscription, or a cheaper priced version? preferably That can be upgraded to full version in case I want to go there.

Musically - does it fall into the music you are making or want to make? This one is tricky because it’s important to think outside the box, use different tools in different ways, and try new things when being creative.

Music Process - Will it help you learn, or be more creative/better/faster in any of the main music making steps creating/midi/audio/mixing/mastering/etc?

Price history? If I miss this sale, and realize it was a mistake later on, approximately how long is the wait until I might get this deal again? see appsliced.com for sale history to gauge when another sale might come around.

Time/ Learning Curve - how hard, or how long will it take to understand and use the app. Can I enjoy right out of the box, or Can I/Will I invest the time into something deeper and more complex? Some of the best apps are both easy to use but also deep.

Patches/Presets- does it have a good selection? are there free/paid ones online? What type of Files can I import? ie. SF2, exs24, syx, etc.

Randomizers - I love me a good Random Patch/Preset Creator, or even a Random sequencer?

IAP’s - How many and for what? Are they for Functionality or more Presets?

    Obviously... Price? Affordability? Value?
